  1. Funny, I think I was the only one in the water after that.
  2. I think the most important thing is to fish moving water and just like fresh water, structure. The particular spot I was in was a corner where the gulf connects to a pass. The other shore side was shallow so I figued any shark passing through with the tide is going to be close enough to smell it. Also the further your bait out the better, even though I didn't cast that bait particularly far for that shark. Other than that just maker sure you have big enough tackle. It might not look it in the video but my reel is huge. It has 500 yards of line on it.
  3. I usually come to Florida once or twice a year and this year I decided I was going to try and get into shark fishing. After spending a fortune picking up the required gear I hit the beaches for the past 7 days worth long hours with no luck. Finally today my reel started screaming. An hour and a half later a very big sandbar shark was landed!
  4. They fight very similar to small mouth bass IMO
  5. I reel both but do prefer lefty. The rod I was using isn't mine. Completely agree though.
  6. Brought my boat down to Florida to do some fishing. I've been trying for sharks off the beach for the past few days but today we went to do some backwater fishing. Caught next to nothing for 3 hours, then suggested we try fishing under a bridge, and we catch one basically every single cast! Just shows that you have to find the fish. Shark bait for the rest of my time here!
  7. Makes a lot of sense when you compare it to Lake St Clair. Pike present, bigger fish, and a lot of the best musky fishing is in the deeper parts.
  8. Heading to Florida in a week to chase some sharks, never been spooled but it's definitely a concern for me in the near future haha
  9. I don't usually troll I cast or jig. Either method can be slowed right down though.
  10. Heading out Sunday morning, hoping the warmer weather gets the bite going
  11. I know, we did have a net but it was just chaos once the reel broke to land the fish. If you look at any of my other videos we always use a net and unhook the fish in the water. Just a crazy situation. We normally use the Frabill Big Kahuna.
  12. I contacted Abu and they said they'd fix it for $30... Not bad to keep it as a spare but I am already in love with the Calcutta haha
  13. Gotta do what Ya gotta do to get the fish in and released safely!
  14. It's a 13 foot Boston Whaler with snow on it.
  15. It was the weld that snapped, so maybe weak spot weld.
  16. That's hilarious... I bought the Shimano Calcutta B later that day!
  17. Hopefully the water warms up, bite was non existent on Sunday. Not one fish caught all day.
  18. Good news! In case anyone saw the video a couple of months back, charges have been filed against the musky killer by the MNR!
  19. Lol everyone tells me that I just don't like how it feels palming it with my rod. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
  20. No not Dane I am the guy he was about to go fishing with after he met you. And we did get soaked haha!
