  1. So as i said before ive been home from school this past week, because of reading week. And who wants to study on reading week right? lol. Ive made it out fishing 5 days this past week off of Inisfill Beach fishing for whitefish and hoping to hook into a laker, but that never happend. Me and my Buddy Kyle or KBC as he is now known on here haha, went out to his hut agian and got setup. As we were driving out we noticed there was a car "parked" 20 feet from his hut, and we were wondering if someone was fishing in his hut . Apparently its happend a few times before. So as we pull up we can see that these two guys have got their car buried in a snow drift! We offer the guys a shovel, and we set some tip-ups, Then go over to help the guys. I dig out the front tires and clear the snow away from the back of the car. Kyle hooks the car up to his truck and with a little coaxing the car started to back up. The guys were very thankful and headed on there way. While we were busy we had some fish strip our minnows on us! a good sign lol. We rebated with one tip up each and one jigging rod and waited...10 minutes! kyle got the first one which was about 3 lbs, and he got the next, and the next lol. Finally my tipup gets slamed down and i have my own on lol, i was getting worried for a bit lol. Once i set the hook i knew it was a bigger fish! It took all the line on my stick and it still wanted more lol, i finally started to gain some line and we were swaring it was a laker because of the line it was pulling and the big headshakes... i turned out to be my PB whitefish at 24 1/4"! i was pretty excited about this fish lol. This fish was good enough to get me 3rd place in the whitefish category! Those were the only 2 pictures i took all day lol but we iced 9 whitefish and lost 5 more! Almost all were clones of eachother, each one weighing a little over 3lbs but it was still a ton of fun! I was amazed at the turn out! lots of familiar faces, and met plenty of new nice people! Thanks alot everyone that helped put together such a great event! for a great cause!
  2. HAHAHA ya i cant stand fishin like that! o well its the only way to do it up there it seems!
  3. Ya it was nice running into you too Tony! Good on you two for getting into some fish! We didn't even have a sniff the rest of the day... Lots of fish swimin around tho. I'm goin out agian tomarrow afternoon for a few hours, gunna try to get a few more! Man those simcoe whiteys are tasty! Lol
  4. Just come up and fish northern Huron or Superior tribs... never crowded! lol but in truth all u need to remember is use your common sense, dont do anything you wouldnt want to happen to you! and like others have said, it never hurts to ask...
  5. Forsure man! I can't fish without it! Thanks guy's!!!
  6. haha so plan was, since im home from school for reading week, Tinbanger and i would get out fishin a few times! After all who acctually reads on reading week . So my friend Kyle (who is a member but dosent post much) said we could use his hut whenever we felt like it! The hut is out off Innisfil Beach, away from the citys of huts! We were ready to go bright and early... or i mean 11:00am lol. We drove out to the hut in the van, which is way better then walking lol. We got set up with one tip up and one jigging rod each. No hits for the first hour but like on Sunday lots of activity on the flasher! it was just a matter of time. Man was it windy out there today! We didnt fish outside of the hut all day lol. So Tinbanger had to make a phone call at 1:00, as he was on the phone my tipup starts to move... i set the hook and miss it! dang! As im setting mine agian i look at his and watch it fall back! He's busy on the phone so i set the hook! Ya i got em that time! after a nice fight outa 90 feet of water, Tinbangers trying to net it! While still on the phone haha. well the first one is on the ice! a nice 4.5+ lbser Then it seemed we had a bunch of small fish, probably Ciscoes and Smelt stealing our minnows and not getting hooked up. 20 minutes later i get a hit on a BaddBoyz jig but i riped the lips off it lol i gota settle down with those hooksets lol. We laugh and then watch as both our tip ups go down at the same time! Tinbanger sets the hook and hes got nothin, i set my hook and i feel some weight! NICE! Here are my two! About the same size! So it seemed that that same fish swam through both our lines and set them both off lol heres a few more pices of the day Thanks for lettin me use ur hut bud! lol and Tinbanger hard at work lol Anyways it was a great day to be on the water with my DAD! lol
  7. well it seems some ones figured them out! we had a slow day out there on sunday with only one whitey on the ice! a few missed hits. but so many fish came into look at our jigs and spoons it was insane! Congrats!
  8. didnt get a hit in the hut today untill after 9....
  9. Wow those carvings are amazing! and good for him he got bronze too!
  10. Ya what a game! GO HABS GO!
  11. Think i should blur the background on this picture?? Come on lake of the woods isnt that big! haha
  12. Ya they sure keep you busy! but i know theres some hogs in there!
  13. Nice Fish! Good going Tyler! i really need to find some like that, im tired of the Snot Rockets in Ottertail lol
  14. Yep i always have some spruce, ceder or balsam over top of my snare. i also think it might make them feel more comfortable going through it.
  15. Thanks Guys! i just got it skined and cleaned and the hide looks amazing im going to tan it tomarrow i think!
  16. this is how a snare set looks... the one i got mine in was built way bigger and had alot more branche obviously
  17. ok well BillM, heres how a snare works those busted branches were broke by ME! when u snare rabbits u look for a well used trail and follow it untill u come to a natural funel, like two trees close togeather, then u take a bunch of sticks and branches and jam them into the snow to create an even tighter funel which narrows down to about 4 inches... and this is where you put your snare! its acctually kinda cool how it works. and like i siad before all those broken branches were busted by ME lol.
  18. Well i have had zero luck when it came to snareing snowshoes. but with the help of many members, and through trial and error i finally snared my first hare! i got to say to was pretty cool to see, i walked up to my first snare and noticed my rope was all over the place and my "funnel" was trashed, but as i got closer i realized that white blob of "snow" was acctually my first hare! so i snaped a few quick pics out in the field! and it worked just as it should of! the snare was right around the neck and it didnt look like it put up to much of a fight. Thanks agian guys for all the help i recived!
  19. wow i sure would of loved to find that! it would be a shed hunters holy grail!
  20. so ive moved the snares around since last week. i set the new ones up yesterday in some fairly young growth conifers, on some well used trails. i get down here this morning and check the first few. a couple of them fell/ knocked over, so i fixed them up. got to my last set and on the last one i was checking i noticeed i couldnt see my snare, then as i got closer it was tightend way more then i had set it. then i realized.... there was blood and fur everywhere!! and what was all around my snare? coyote tracks! stupid dogs lol... o well at least im getting closer to getting one! i was amazed that the dogs got to one so quick! i mean it was set yesterday evening!
  21. Good job Dr! i really need to hit up the park sometime this winter! let me know if u ever have room!
  22. rapids eh... white and pink ... those jigs look great! im sure they will fool some steel!!
  23. So i just got back in from checking the first sets...NOTHING lol... . Although i did have a set of tracks go AROUND one of my snares lol. so i beefed them up alot, with piles of spruce, and balsam fir. i also made the snares smaller less then 4 inches now probably 3.5 inches. Thanks for all that info Dabluz! it is really appreicated! i never would of thought to make the loop on a tree, such a good idea! im going to go set 5 more tomarrow sometime and if i have any luck ill be sure to post the results!
  24. regular mono or floro would work fine. you rarely get bit off by walleye.
