Silver...I meant to say that I was told to peel back ~ 10" of braid from the lead and then tie 4 knots to the lead, and then pull the braid back over the lead to cover the knots????...does this sound right??

....so what knots do you recommennd?...I've had a friend tell me to "peel" the braid from the lead core and tie to the lead with 4 knots of my backing or leader:whistling:

Silver....I take it that you use a few wounds of mono on the reel first before the braid backing so that the line doesn't slip on the reel...correct???....what type of knots do you guys recommend for joining each section...mono--> backing braid-->lead core-->fluoro leader????? Thanks, Steve

Just picked up a new PENN 320 GT2 reel and 27lb leadcore line....Does anyone use backing line with this setup or just the leadcore with a 50 - 60' fluoro leader?? The reel can handle 320yrds of 20lb/0.45mm mono... Thanks............

Muskie is my 1st choice due to the fact that I hunt them almost every night during the season from my backyard!!....from now until the opening day in June though, I'm chasing Lakers, Speckies and Bows in small remote lakes

What a great few days we've had...I really enjoyed that SW wind on Wednesday which ended up taking the entire ice that was in the Bay out to the main channel of the Ottawa River and went bye-bye along with 4 different docks and 2 half sunk boats throughout the day!! Here's a few pics of the ice headin' out... This is a pic of the river on Monday.... Wednesday around 1:30PM ... One of the docks goin for a ride with a boat..... This is a shot taken 45min after the 1:30PM pic just to show you guys how quick the ice started moving.... after supper.... Yesterday morning..... FINALLY......OPEN WATER SEASON HAS ARRIVED

I own a CTC Nautilus Deep Cycle Battery, 750 mca, Amp Hour Capacity: 103 , for 4 yrs now and it hasn't let me down yet..at a price of $120 you can't go wrong..It's mainly used when I get up to the remote back lakes for trout to power my 40lb Minn Kota Maxxum motor on my 12' tinny....I've gone 3 days (trolling) without having to change the battery....the only negative feedback I have is:......MAN, IS IT HEAVY to lug around...either that, or I'm gettin older and it just seems like it's heavier

I guess I can't really comment too much as I've only ever seen an hour of WFN while visiting my son and it was enough to last me a long time!!!!..Don't really have time to watch TV at home as all my spare time is used to go fishin' instead of sittin' and watchin someone else catch fish

What a great thread!! Here's a pic of my best friend Spanky!!....he died a few years back at the age of only 5yrs old from kidney failure....he was the smartest dog I ever owned and he never missed a day of goin out in the boat with me...He would actually bark to tell me I had a fish on while we were trolling and I wasn't paying attention to my rod!! My wife was devastated, so I took her out for a drive and we picked these 2 brothers up at the Humane Society...they were the only ones left from a litter of 8 and we couldn't find it in our hearts to seperate them... Here they are today....

Duber...I just ordered a few things from Cabela's (close to $100) and they charged me $3 for brokerage fees and $12 for shipping via U.S. Postal service...one of the items is a trailer receiver hitch for my ATV and is fairly heavy.... Steve
