  1. I amout of the loop on this one....is this the same Sportsman show that was always during March break? And then the Spring fishing show started. One time in the 80s I helped out at the Sportsman show and we had a fairly large booth, I asked the owner of the store I was working with how much the booth cost for the 10 days and you could have knocked me over with a feather.....$22000 dollars. Its no wonder that they stopped going in the costs are unbelievable.
  2. Down is supposed to be "stuffed" that way it does not get any empty insulation parts in folds or creases...of course as mentioned make sure it is dry before you put it away.
  3. Most guys would love to support the smaller independent if they have them....problem is fishermen are wicked cheap for the most part. We have a good Canadian Tire here in Kingston ran by a good guy, and they are good corporate citizen ...always helping out the local fishing clubs etc. If I can get it local I will and pay the price but we all know someone who will drive to the states to save $10 and then ask CT to sponsor their kids hockey team!!!!!
  4. I think I might have a chance catching a fish there....then again
  5. Well why not also look at prevention....they crack because they are dried out so you need to wear gloves. Like everyone else hear at one time I got them but started to put hand cream on numerous times aday (Okeefes is greasy) if they get real bad put vaselene on before bed and were some cotton gloves, keep at it and wear gloves.
  6. It seems like a fair price and both have warranty, the Gen 2 HDS 8 are available for $1000 so for a little bit more you may be able to get new stuff with full warranty....
  7. Big J have been around for 40 years or more....at one time they were windshield wiper motors and they are durable, The electronic units (Cannon Scotty ) had a few more features with out adding things (like auto stop) never trust the counters on any of my riggers I use the finder. If you get them cheap enough they will be good.
  8. As a kid growing up in Oshawa we had a neighbor that complained about us missing the net and hitting his garage with pucks, he was always flooding it for us and it wasnt on his property. If he was around I would thank him. This world is pretty messed up in our values
  9. Years ago fishing on Scugog with a buddy in my 12 foot boat and his 9.9. Fishing near the causeway and decided to move up near the Nonquon. Well as you can imagine with a 9.9 it was pretty slow and the motor was howling and lugging the whole way. As we get there we start fishing and after 20 minutes I said...its pretty windy eh? And he replied that it was, so I asked him why we were not drifting and he looked at me and said did you throw out the anchor to which I replied ....throw it out....I didnt pick it up 5 miles ago. We hauled it in and it had enough weeds in it so it was the size of a VW Bug. Had a chuckle about that one and the motor ran fine after that.
