  2. I have seen that picture a number of times. And as BillM has noted, those pike are nowhere near that size. The picture has been making the rounds for years, with various waterbodies claimed as the location, including lakes in Europe.
  3. Yep, I was out on Loughborough Lake a number of years ago, fishing in front of a multi-millionaire's "cottage". Spring of the year and we found a good number of big bluegills, so we were not moving any time soon. They apparently believed that they owned the water in front of their cottage!!! First they played loud music at us. I sang louder than their music - my version of The House of the Rising Sun, if memory serves me. They turned off the music and some young man came down to the dock, lit up a jetski, and started buzzing close to us. So each time he went past, I cast directly at him. And to make sure they got the point, when we needed to relieve ourselves, we did so in their direction. Two can play that game........... Doug
  4. and they can VOTE.............
  5. I have not fished the Ganny since the 80s, and it was a zoo back then. Fishing shoulder to shoulder with other anglers , with the odd dickweed chucking a spoon upstream was not my idea of a good time.
  6. CrowMan beat me to the punch on this one. That would be my first plan of attack. Doug
  7. and the BASS you can catch on lures as long as your arm!!!!!😉 Doug
  8. Yeah! I have not run the rotisserie this year, I am overdue...........great idea for another hot day. Doug
  9. 😁 Shhh! Don't tell people!!! 😉
  10. Looks awesome! I had the same idea about not wanting heat in the kitchen, so I cooked one of our meat chickens (that we raised) in the slow cooker. I had never done that before, and it turned out very tasty - and of course, tender and juicy. I don't like crispy skin anyways, so this was a perfectly acceptable way to cook a whole chicken. Doug
  11. what happened to the original 中国领先的磷酸铁锂电池供应商,提供全套电源解决方案。LiFePO4-电池 .. from our new troller?
  12. If you have eaten rabbit, squirrel tastes pretty much the same, has the same bone structure, etc. If you get down Kingston way some time, I would be pleased to share some if I have any at that point. I do hunt them every fall. 🙂
  13. Thanks Einrich! Yes, a 40 hp Yamaha 4 stroke, and I will take a look next time I pull the boat out of the garage. My half-inch of wiggle room doesn't allow for a cowl removal until the boat is pulled out. Doug
  14. Are you willing to tell us who that outfitter might be? Doug
  15. When I had a bigger boat and a much bigger motor, and onboard fuel tank, I had a fuel/water separator. But not since I have owned 40 hp outboards. Wondering if this filter is able to be installed in-line on a portable fuel tank hose? Doug
  16. So my wife is away for a few days, leaving me without adult supervision.........and so I went rooting around in one of the freezers looking for a package of elk steaks. I was SURE I had one left, but maybe not. Anyways, I did find a squirrel I shot last fall, and a cottontail, and one of the rabbits we raised last year. I like to try to shoot 3 or 4 squirrels to make squirrel pot pie, but last fall recovering from shoulder surgery I did not do much hunting. So anyways I put the 3 critters in the slow cooker with a container of that Campbell's chicken broth with white wine (first time I tried it, and I like it!) Last night I feasted on squirrel and rabbit meat, some of it with red pepper jelly. And I had just enough squirrel meat left over for a sandwich (and the rabbit is going into pot pies this afternoon!) I am going way out on a limb here, but I am guessing there was nobody else on here who had a squirrel sandwich for lunch. Delicious! Doug
  17. Canada Day supper here was leftovers. Oh yes, and two raw carrots. Guess I should have taken a picture....😁
  18. Sounds pretty spectacular! Happy Canada Day! Doug
  19. Yes I did look up the spelling before I posted that, to confirm in my own mind how I used to spell it. Mr Google says both spellings are correct. I did hear the tornado and violent storm warnings for your area yesterday on my way home from the hunt camp. It completely missed Kingston. Doug
  20. Looks awesome! I used to make gravlox (I spell it with an o, like lox) with brown trout fillets, but it has been a very long time since I caught a brown. Or a brookie, for that matter... Headed to Loughborough today for a week, yeehaw! When we are not bass fishing or playing cards, the 4 amigos eat like kings. I am introducing them to smoked sprats, thanks to you! Doug
  21. Hey Rick! This is a cooking thread, I was looking forward to your muskie recipe! 😲 Doug
  22. Somebody here is a foodie! I thought they were maybe garlic cloves..........😉
  23. Looks like a fallfish to me. A fellow I knew in a private fishing club a very long time ago, born in Britain and served in WW II, used to catch these in a lake in the Ottawa Valley. He had his man servant gut them, chunk them up, and boil them. He claimed they were delicious, but nobody else in the club ever tried any, as far as I know. People eat practically every species of fish, and I am sure these are edible. Doug
