Just returned from another skunking on the Grand. I put-puted from the dam to Erie, marked all kinds of fish, but not a single hit or anything! I was running a deep-diving walle-diver, my son was running a deep diving Rapala, and the only fish we took home was a pickerel that someone gave to me at the dock. I am trying to get my son into fishing so he has something other than video games. BTW it is now 5 trips that I have not caught any pickerel, and I am frustrated. I was running the same pattern that Garry 2r's showed me and nothing! Thanks

IMHO the bow mount should do what you want it to do. That being said, I was told my those more knowledgeable than me that one uses a bow mount for positioning during a drift. I, on the other hand, do troll with my bow mount. There is something about QUIETLY going through the water that is so relaxing...

Well, I just looked over the motor, and yes the plugs are new, the fuel lines appear to be sound, however I am missing the lean rich adjustment knob at the center of the motor. Could it be that the motor is running too rich or too lean??

My best all-round knife is a simple boning knife I can carve a turkey with it, bone a ham, and fillet a fish.

The other benefit of the what are the regs??????questions is that the answers do educate us on what are the rules. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked. Plugs are brand new, (dealer has indicated that the motor was just tuned up, with new points and condenser and he says the coil is good) Gas is 50 - 1 approximately 2 months old with stabilizer in it. My fuel line is max one year old, looks brand new.

I agree, it took me a year before I finally pulled the trigger on a deal there, and Clarence seems like a decent fellow. I asked him prior to the purchase if the motor had been serviced, listened to it run, and felt confident walking out the door. I will talk to him on Monday.

It was just bought from Bay city marine, and they indicated that the motor was fully serviced and tuned up. My boat is a 14' fiberglass.

Well, I put the 20 hp on Lure Laundry, and on GPS I am doing 20 MPH at wide open throttle. Not too bad I think! However............when I try to go 1/2 throttle the motor will not run very smoothly, and when I try to troll it stalls out all the time. Any ideas as to why this is? This was done with me on the tiller, and my 175 pound son in the front. The rate of speed was the same when positions were reversed. The motor is a 81 (?) Johnson seahorse.

That does sound like the impeller is going (gone) for a dump. If the motor is not peeing, do not run it for long as it is not being cooled. An impeller is not too hard to change, as I understand it. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the advice guys! Keep your eyes open if your looking for a excellent running evinrude 7.5 out board. I think one is going to show up in the classifieds soon...... Ask Garry 2rs if you want an honest assesment.

I have a chance to get a 20 hp for "Lure Laundry" at a reasonable cost. The hull is rated for a 25. Will the 5 less hp make much of a difference? I am currently running a whoppin' 7.5 and get FANTASTIC fuel economy, but 7 mph at WOT. I have had it out for close to 12 hours and still have 1/2 tank of gas left.
