  1. $7.99 each not bad will be at the Mississauga CTC at lunch looking for some more
  2. did you get the pm. seems to be some problem on my end still can't send Just under $500 but they did go up last fall a bit
  3. Mine is much higher maintenance than Malcolms. It's all in the personality. When I went to pick mine out, he opened the pen and this guy shot out almost knocked me over and then dove into a garbage can of food. I just couldn't say no. Rays has a very good mix of tricolors but if he has any check out his red/brown mixes They are very nice. I originally wanted a red but changed my mind when I got up there. Good luck and if you go to Rays don't howl at the dogs. He has an outside pen where the adults run around and they'll start at once. Drives his neighbour nuts!! Malcolm did it once. It was hilarious! I wish I could post a picture right now. He's laying beside me on the couch dreaming. Feet are going and he's barking in his sleep. Must be catching rabbits!!
  4. I know there's a few Lake Ontario hounds out there. DWC/GMAN haven't heard any posts yet guys ???? Was cruising through CTC tonight looking for scotchbrite pads and aluminum cleaner to fix up my pedastal bases when in the fishing section way down at the bottom I was suprised to see small 4" Pro Troll flashers with the Echips. If any of you salmon guys watched the US websites last year you know that the Echip flashers were absolutely deadly. I managed to give 1 a shot last year and did hook into some fish. On a US site from Eastern Ontario I found some information from several captains who were using the small 4" ProTroll Echip with a coho sized fly as a cheater line last year for bows. There success was very impressive. Just a quick FYI for anyone looking to add to the arsenal. They had at the Oakville strore, and I do mean HAD 2 colors to choose from. Silver/Silver tape and Silver/Watermelon
  5. Rays Beagles 13 inch size 781 Regional Road 21 2.5 km west of Manchester (just West on Borck RD and 7 - Port Perry) 905 985 9939 used to be able to find some contact info on the web but now he's more word of mouth. He sells pure hunting dogs Malcolm (on this board) and I bought last year. Great dogs but defintely higher maintenance than a regular house pet. Very reasonably priced compared to some of the other breeders I looked at last year. Mines on the left - male with big lungs. Hasn't shut up but who doesn't love the sound of a beagle!! Malcolm hunted his last year for deer and it did fantastic. This year mine goes too. close up of my buddy. Tricolor with nice head markings. Malcolms is a female all black and white with 1 blue eye. If he didn't pick her I would have
  6. Thanks Wayne always can count on the OFNers for help For now I do have a line on some local supply of equivalent products. If I come up empty I'll take you up on the offer.
  7. Thanks Wayne. That sure explains it. Couldn't figure out the reason and was stumped on not wanting to go done the grounding issue. I did check everything on the weekend and main board and connections all look good and then I remembered hey the battery wasn't even connected over the winter. I know takes me a while but I usually get there. The build up on the base was definitely heaviest around the screws. Any thoughts about where I might get the alodine in the city.
  8. Pulled the tarp off the boat this weekend and got a bit of a suprise. All around the edge of the 3 pedastal bases on the floor of the boat (not on the decks) was a white powdery deposit. I took 1 of the bases out and found that the aluminum is starting to pit or corrode away and this deposit seems to be aluminum rust(?). I'll try and post a picture later but any other Lund, Crestliner, Princecraft,..... owners out there ever run across this. More important is there anything I can do to salvage the bases. I took a wire brush to one base and it cleaned up but I want to know how to keep it from continuing. The bases are Attwood 2 3/4" straight stem which are now very hard to find.
  9. Pooch I run a 1750 Crestliner and a 115 HP Mers 2 stroke and have compared my performasnce tro alot of similar boats (Lund, Princecraft,...) and I get a few more MPH top speed than any four stroke. Gas consumption is pretty much similar and depends so much more on how you drive the boat that any statistics on paper. Trophy Muskie said it best. If you plan to troll most of the time then go 4 stroke. If your gonna run and gun and spend more time of the trolling motor go Optimax. If it was me I'd go Optimax and spend the extra $1000 and pick up a used 6HP four stroke and use it as a kicker. Better on the 115 HP down the road to keep the hours down. I troll salmon with my 115 2 stroke and by GPS I can hit 0.9 MPH slow troll.
  10. Start hitting the rivermouths around the great lakes. Bring a long handled dip net and when the alewife start coming in you can pick up the dying ones along the breakwalls. Freeze em. For cats take a 1-2" slice across the mid section. You can usually get 2 cuts from 1 alewife. Best cat bait I've ever come across. Stinky, oily and stay on the hok pretty good. Keeps the gobies and small fish away too!
  11. Bronte is also open. No docks though as yet. 16 mile is also open but yacht club is storing boats out into the public parking lot so this launch will not be usable till they drop sailboats back in the water later in April.
  12. the style sold me as soon as i picked it up - At first glance you think it was put together wrong. High gloss finish too. Spent today playing it. Think It could use a new set of strings. I'm just a strummer working on a bunch of camp fire stuff. Just finished playing Dyer Maker - love that tune Bowie The Band Green Day even some Prince and Shaggy get a ton off Chordie site - best around for tabs Wayne, first week in July there will be several evening campfires on diamond lake annoying the tree huggers with camp songs. Last week in July I'll be on the hub, Try the veal I'll be there all week back and forth playing nightly in Shining Wood at Cooleys place.
  13. Got a nice message this week from where my kids take music lesson. Sunday liquidation sale open only to families that have someone taking lessons. Opened at noon and it was packed I know theres a few guitar players out there. They had great deals 30%-75% off on Alverez, Garrison and lots of Vinatge electrics. Almost bought a big red hollow body. My daughter picked up an 20" Sabian ride cymbal and stand for 75% off. Not to be left out I picked up and Alverez electric acoustic and Crate amp. All 40% off Not as full sound as the Martin but boy is it fun to plug in and get loud!! The music room in the basement is getting packed. Now all we need is to learn how to play a song together.
  14. just an FYI as I get advance notice on ACC concerts through a program at my work The tickets I have access to are $238 each. Yikes!!!
  15. Sounds like a plan. My 8 year old son should be tagging along also. That's unless he gets an invite to a B-day party or something.
  16. Gerritt defintiely interested in an outing this weekend. Always like to fish with other OFNers pm me with any hook up details. I'm self sufficient for ice fishing. just need to know when and where to meet.
  17. Without naming names I'm pretty sure I know who ya mean. and to think we had to guide these guys on Lake Temagami so they could film a smallie show. I'd be peeved to have those way points come up on any of their stuff.
  18. Yep Wayne, Talked to Rick a couple of days ago. He's put the boats back in the water before Xmas and has been running them since. Good thing is he's getting more work done on the island that normally can't be done with all the snow and cold weather. they had a couple inches last week but rain and wind blew all ice out in less than a day. He's missing out on a lot of business in his back lake (Diamond). Already had to cancel a few trips. This is gonna be hard on the operators. Looks like cold weather s coming next week -19C high on the 17th Go Ice Go
  19. Lets put a jam night together. I'm too cheap to go for guitar lesson but I've been strumming G-C-D for about a year. Did anyone else notice that Gman's plastic carpet covers were hung up on the back wall behind the band. Wow!! dual purpose keeps fish guts off the carpet and the neighbours from calling the cops about the noise. Next trip should be a shore fish/camp fire/guitar jam
  20. If your doing anything with planer board, dipsey or lead core set up you really should have a line counter set up. For entry level price go with the Okuma. I have 4 different Okuma's and can confirm I have had less than perfect performance from the Magda line. The Convector though has been very good. The 30 size in the Okuma has enough capacity to do almost everything. Next step up would be the Diawa. Very good performance and releiable. I have a 17 (little guy) that I use for lakers, walleye and spring salmon. If you don't need the line counter look at the Shimano Tritons. For plain downrigging these reels are indestructable. I've had one for over 15 years and used and abused far beyond what would be recommended. Other than cleaning never had anything else that needed work on this reel.
  21. Well I got surprised this year. I ordered 2 reels from BPS for myself and thinking I had done this in enough time to have them under the tree, was a little disappointed when nothing showed up at the door before xmas. To my suprise I opened a gift from the wife and kids and found 2 BPS Extreme baitcasters. I didn't know whether it was the reels I ordered or if my wife found the subtle hints in the BPS catalogue. She finally told me that she was home when they got delivered and thought it would be funny to wrap them up.
  22. For years my wife has refused to buy any Xmas gifts related to fishing or hunting. I'm usually quite open giving her the UPC code, aisle location, even offering to map the item location in the store on my GPS unit So every year I'm forced to put a couple of "To Me - From Me!!" items under the tree. I even look suprised when I open them in front of everyone. So who else out there does this. Am I alone??? This years To Me - From Me BPS Extreme EXT10 Left Hand 3 Yozuri deep cranks for next years trip to BOQ anything i might find at Fishing world on saturday.
  23. I think I might launch the boat at Port Perry on the 1st and drift in front of Goreskis.
  24. defintely 8 hp minimum. I've had a few diff HP motors on my 1750 crestliner 8 hp is almost perfect size, weight and power for my rig
  25. After a few hard years due to a mange outbreak the coyotes are starting to come back in S Ont.. I live in Oakville and have been seeing a lot more driving the 403 into Mississauga. Amazed at the number this fall. Saw a real dark one last week - pretty nice saw standing in the ditch right at Dundas and 403. Must have been chewin on some road kill. Nice to see as they control the dreaded yappy dog and stray cat population. When I first moved to Oakville we had them walk across the parking lot behind our house pretty regularily. maybe now I can get that fur coat my wife's been looking for.
