Bassaholic, thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for and I encourage every one to read the article if you have any curados in your line up or are thinking of purchasing one! D

I tyhink I am going to try and go back to my roots ( grew up in Belleville) and get back that jig feel, wether it's a hair jig for sallies, or a big jig and plastic for largemouths or a delicate jig and minnow for eyes. I used to be master with a jig and after many years of power fishing I dont have the feel or the patince as i used too. What is the tecnique your going to spend a little more time on this year. Edgar ( i think it was him ) got his nose busted with a running knee, gruesome. Lots of action from what I saw. Of course this is the one I ddint watch.

I am watching the Bassmaster Classic War room coverage and Dave is doing some interviews. He looks like he has lost a ton of weight. Good for him! Just hope its a good weight loss! Good for him!

Ok , Im looking at another combo this year and I was wondering whay peoiple think of the Curado E and G ( and what happened to F ) I have heard from previous posts that people are not as happy with the new E and G's as the previous models. All of my baitcasters are the silver version and I have never had a problem. I have been surfing Ebay for a new one or a lightly used one and wonder if I grab a E or G or stay with older silver model previous models and skip it all togethher for a Core. I asked about the Core and got the usual great response here, but I CANNOT find a deal on a Core anywhere. Thanks Darren

I am sneaking KVD on too my team shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
-
I can#t go against KVD again this year , maybe Evers. Water is still colder then normal so I have a feeling it will play out alot like last yeaars classic with guys trying to stay on a spot all day where active fish move by. Crankbaits to get the larger fish to bite. Its all aboout fishing first not second! That is my strategy, I wonder if I will be close!!LOL Darren

Finally put my apprehentions away and got a wire set up for dipseys, been flirting with the idea. The guy from tightlines was really helpful ...thats what i appreciated more then the price. It was shaun at the Advanced setup. I was hoping it was going to be James because I always deal with James for some reason. I wanted tyo ask if he had scored my whitetail yet. Oh well have to wait!

I missed the talk about Quinte Muskie today and was wondering who on the board gives Quinte a shot for muskies? When I was young muskies in the bay were not at a fishable level but I guess with the changing water quality it was become fishable. Wondering if there were any typical patterns for them there now. Is it a trollers bite or a casters bite? I remeber a picture from the twenties of a stringer of 10 muskies from the bay. The old bridge used to be a hot spot for muskies. Darren

Only got the last 30 minutes in. Sure wish I had been there when they discussed Quinte muskie. Grew up there my whole life and only saw a handfull of skies. The waters were murkier back then and not as condusive. Show was good and the silent auction very good but i ddint get any I bid for. Really wanted the big Beckman net. The rest of the show was ok , got to compare Lund models side by side which is nice. Got a steel dipsey set up, not a deal but the guy was full of info that made it worth it. No deals on any high end equipement other then some no tax on St Croixs. Darren

Any Opinions On Toyota Highlander Hybrid Vehicles?
bucktail replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Hey Mike Its a little light on the towing cxapacity if that is a concern for you. I was at the dealer 2 weeks ago and noticed it didnt have the same towig capacity as my FJ. And I feel for you with everything going wrong, no idea why things do that all at once but they do it and it can suck! Darren -
The top 3 guides not including tip top all started poping out at the foot. I was able to reinsert the feet of the guide and re glue them, strange thing is it happened all in a period of 2 weeks last year. Its a cbr med heavy model, you think the GL2 would be a step down?

Boombap. I love my combo its slower action allows me to NOT pull the bait away from fish. For a cheaper rod you might want to check out the KVD crankbait rods. If he can win everything under the sun throwing a crankbait with that rod who am Ito second guess him!!LOL

Merc.... I have my 300 on a Shimano Crucial medium heavy 7 footer. I use it as a flipper and a frogger for real heavy stuff. Works nice. I also put it on a Fenwick telescoping heavy fliupping stick for burning smaller buctails muskie and pike fishing. Darren

The fishing show is this weekend and if your anything like me youll be suffering from cabin fever and looking for an upgrade to your equipement to hopefully make you a little more effective this year. Saying all of that what is your favorite rod and reel combo and why? This might help out someone else that is looking for a set up for certain conditions. My personal fav is a Loomis crankbait casting rod with a Shimano Curado and 15 pound floro. Help a brother out!!! Darren

Too be honest I thought the MGFV with its higher speed would be just right as I thought the spool was smaller. The crucial is a synthetic handle isnt it. Call me old fashioned but I love cork. I have used my present Loomis Crankbiat rod so much the guides are wearing out. Its an 845 so I was thinking of getting the lighter version so tthe Core was an idea to keep it light. Thats still a whack of cash tho. It is going to be a smallie crankbait and small pike rod. Thanks for the info guys and please keep it coming. I am going to start a new thread asking what is everyones favorite rod/reel combo is.

I am planning to buy a Shimano Core and a Loomis Crankbait GL2 this spring and was wondering if the Core was worth the extra money or should I stay with a Curado 100 on the combo? Wondering how they last and stand up, when you get ultra light on things they usually break down easier. Darren
