  1. Someone's SUV when through a pressure crack last weekend at Gilford..can see the video on the blue ice report...personally, I would never take my car onto the ice anytime..skdds
  2. Welcome, ..I've gone to Point au Baril (2.5 hours from GTA) at that time for walleye (&pike) and so far had success. Like others..need a boat though!
  3. Thanks for the info i'll check each of these out...going to be hauling it out onto the ice mostly cooks and kemptfelt most likely.. skdds
  4. Hi guys, I'm considering adding a 2-3 man portable ice hut to my hard water gear this year. I was looking at the Rapalas..seems like a reasonable option for the price as I really don't want to spend more than about $350. Any recommendations/brands to consider? Ease of set up, weight and durability are probably the most important factors..but I realize I might get what I pay for.. Thanks skdds
  5. Lake O...yep, caught a steelhead from shore two weeks ago at Erindale.. The only part of Otonabee I've been on was at the mouth of Rice lake..Any other good sections with a boat ramp? It goes from Peterborough to Rice correct?
  6. Hi guys, Looking to take the kayak out one more time this year, maybe Sunday..hoping to go to a relatively calm lake nearish to T.O. I am not a seasoned fall angler. I was thinking Scugog, anyone fish it recently?- I don't care too much what is on the end of the line this time around!-probably drop shot, troll some minnows....other lake suggestions welcome from those fishing recently, Thanks, Skdds
  7. 1. There is a boat launch ($) at White Falls Marina. 2.In the spring/summer/early fall you can park and launch at big chute on the severn river for free and take the "marine railroad" (photo looking toward GP) down into GP. Lock fees depend on boat size ( I'm in a kayak..was $9)..
  8. Fished GP a number of times. Mostly summer-early fall, SM/LM-topwater, drop shot 15-25ft and senkos. Not sure about the presentations for this time of year. Small-medium pike are common along weeds/weedlines-used white spinnerbaits last summer. Once caught a good sized musky- by accident though! I mostly fish the east side- good structure and current there. Apparently there are walleye too but I've yet to catch them..skdds
  9. Guess I'll be going to the supermarket for my fish dinner...
  10. Thanks for the info, may look to barrie instead for the perch bite..
  11. This does not sound good...how are water temps? Do these lake turn-over or are they too shallow? ..Maybe I should head to Barrie for some perch?
  12. Hi Guys, Hoping to get the Yak out Monday for a quick day trip...can't go too far from T.O. so was thinking Scugog or Rice lake for whatever has been biting. I have not fished this late in the season before either. Anyone been out there recently? Any suggestions? Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks, Skdds
  13. I too have an auto-inflate..but, just hope it actually *works* if ever needed. I don't think you can test these things..
  14. Great report! I was in the Muskoka's last week, weather was brutal, but fishing great!
  15. Thanks! I'll check these out and see what happens.
  16. Regarding the spinnerbaits....how heavy a spinnerbait should I aim for?-skdds
  17. Hi Guys, General question: How would you approach this structure/weeds to target pike? What type of lures would you try first and how would you fish them? Almost all pike I have caught on most trips were incidental but I would like to better target them. The water in the photo is about 10 feet deep and pretty typical of most lakes I fish-muskokas, GB etc. I took it yesterday at the south end of Cooks bay where I was bass fishing and tried for some pike. It looks like great pike water and apparently does produce- though probably better in the spring /fall when water temps come down. I may head back there in the future to re-try. Please school me! Thanks! Skdds
  18. 15-20lb fluoro and store on a cut pool noodle..
  19. Thanks for the info..I was thinking of the south end in the hope it would be weedy, calmer and fewer powerboats. I want to work on some topwaters as I'm not too experienced with those techniques and it looks like a good place to go. But... bass opener and long weekend is a bad combo when looking for calm water near T.O!
  20. Hi Guys, Looking to head out this weekend not too far from T.O. Thinking about the south end of Cooks Bay for bass, pike?? if still there. Two questions-where would be the best/closest launch/parking and, since I'm going in a kayak, is that part of the lake rough..I've had some nasty run ins with a tinny further north on the bay..! thanks skdds
  21. We've gone to Severn lodge (full resort-pool, programing etc) as well as rented a cottage from logpointe. Not inexpensive, however. Both on Gloucester pool-near T.O and short access to all kinds of fishing structure for multispecies. I've posted a report or two from there. Good Luck! Skdds
  22. Miss that Shawanaga river ! ..I've had better luck with eyes mid-late june..but that is a nice fish you caught!
  23. Thanks Don, will note!-skdds
  24. Very good, thanks guys!-skdds
