  1. HI Guys, Likely heading up to Pointe au Baril next week..walleye and pike. Anybody fished there at this time of year? Any suggestions tackle wise. I've been there before, but in June, and had success with crawler harnesses, no pike though... Thanks skdds
  2. Great I'm sure it will be nice and quiet on the long weekend!
  3. Hi guys, I may be heading up to Go Home Lake. Any suggestions for this lake-pike, bass, eyes? thanks skdds
  4. Saw your report before I left to go up last week...gave me hope (lol) very nice catch!
  5. Did fish up at white's falls..nothing other than rock bass! even tried a spot called Pickeral Point nearby....nothing! BTW did see a nice Musky one morning...swam out from under the dock while I was loading the boat. Go figure I spend hours on the lake and a nice musky was in two feet of water at the dock...
  6. Thanks guys, did look for some weeds...got lots of snaggs and sunfish...bass became too much fun!...still want to get into the walleye though...
  7. Well, back from Gloucester Pool, was in the north half of the lake last week..great weather except for one day-all rain. Was fishing solo so spent most of my time trolling worm harnesses with various spinnerbait outfits. No eyes to be found however, try as I did and I did fish hard! Happy to say however that the smallmouth fishing was great. The SM hit the worm harnesses hard and predictably and gave great fights. I spent most of my time at the mouth of the Gloucester Passage, a navigation channel that leads to the Big Chute...marked clouds of (I think) baitfish on the sonar and where there were baitfish there were lots smallies just waiting for a meal. All fish were caught 30-50 feet deep and also at some great drop offs in the area. Anything shallower snagged sunfish and rockbass. Also fished near the hydro dam and nearby Marie Island and had good success too. I tried fishing white falls area...little sucess for anything... Apparently the pike fishing was good too but I didn't hook into any. Why I am not sure. Any thoughts on where the Walleye were? I hope to fish GP again soon! Here are a few pics.. skdds
  8. thanks for the suggestion..I'm not too far from there and will check it out-skdds
  9. Hi guys, Heading up to Gloucester pool next week...hope to land some walleye..any pointers for that body of water? Promise to file a report if successful! Thanks Skdds
  10. Thanks for the tips...I'll be renting the boat from the marina..where is the bowling ally?..skdds
  11. Hi guys, I am planning on fishing Simcoe/Couch, next week...probably around the narrows area near Blue Beacon Marina. Anyone been there lately? Not asking for honey holes but would like to know what presentation has been working for bass/pike and any other tips. I'm due for a new report...Thanks! skdds
  12. ...worm harness and bottom bouncer as described was how I fished last week and back in June. Worked really well. I've become a fan of the Northland holographic spinners and harness rig. It has a small float to help keep bait up in the strike zone (or so the package says). You can get them for a few bucks at Canadian Tire. Hope this helps-skdds
  13. Thanks! fish looks better each time I see the pic...wish I could say the same for myself...
  14. Hey snag, Sorry! no pike zing here...worms do work well too however. Could you post (or pm me) the link to the photo if you can, I'm curious where it ended up.. weird eh. Thanks!
  15. sorry that was a crankbait...not a crackbait...but that might also work..LOL-sk
  16. Ya that's Me! that pic is from june 2008. The Pike was caught in the T.O islands by Alan Slocombe of "Al's Adventures". guiding. I went out with him to learn about...catching pike. Had a great time. He snagged the pike on a crackbait or stickbait of sorts, I believe, and I got to get it to the boat. Really nice fish, and made for some nice pics. Where did you find the photo?-sk
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome..I'll throw up a few more reports soon...the pike was about 2-3 feet but kinda skinny
  18. Hi guys, longtime reader, now ready for my first post. Spent last week up in Port Severn on Six Mile Lake. Weather was hit and miss with rain/sun and thunder. Fortunately, I did not get hit by any lightening thanks to the good advise found here! Fishing was off to a slow start until I learned the layout of the part of the lake I was on and what lures were working. After much effort I found some good rocks and drop offs and got down to business. I found my greatest success trolling in 20-30 feet of water with Northland Spinners and worms (harness) rigged to a bottom bouncer as well as drop shotting with powerbait or a live crawler. With those approaches I/we nailed some nice smallies, sunfish, rockbass and a respectable pike. Hope the pics are good. Thanks! Steve K
