  1. Thanks guys for all the suggestions, I'm making a list of these places and will look them up and see what fits! wish I could get up there tomorrow! I'll review some of the archived posts as well, would also like to know how things are this year too..skdds
  2. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check out those lodges more closely, I've read that the French is not prop friendly..skdds
  3. Hi guys, I 'm considering, rather hoping..to fish the French River in June, residing at one of the lodges. Any suggestions? Is it better to head to the Upper French region or Lower French/Delta region? Looking for Eyes and Pike... Thanks! skdds
  4. ..was there last year in June, did well with the worm harnesses for walleye..check out the Shawaniga river..short boat ride from Rock Pine, also along the main channel, seen a few nice walleye in there too. Good Luck post a few photos!-skdds
  5. me too..just back from lake of bays..very tough bite. I was marking fish at 35-60 feet...and often would hit at nothing.-skdds
  6. will do. Thanks, that seems to be what most of the posts are saying as well.-skdds
  7. Hi Guys, Has anyone fished LOB this summer? Dwight area? Bass/Pike? Thanks! skdds
  8. Did just that on Pigeon last weekend with family..didn't land any muskies despite all the great advice I got here, ..but still managed a few bass and lots of panfish with my kids. Egan provided a good map with depth and contours which was helpful. Houseboats-lots of space to cast/troll, but very poor to maintain position...and they are verrry slow and I found them difficult to maneuver. I'd say plan to have fun with the party and if you catch a ski thats a good bonus. They move at a decent clip for trolling. I'd love to go back to pigeon in a more efficient boat and try again sometime. Lots of good spots there. Enjoy the party and lakes-skdds
  9. Nice! better than my luck on Pigeon!-skdds
  10. LOL..going to take more than this!
  11. Got it. Will add to the list.-skdds
  12. That looks nasty!! Thanks for all the advice for me (and hopefully others who may be interested in this thread). Any more suggestions always welcome. -skdds
  13. I got thick skin to comments...I Agree with you 100%..(..but I also don't want to get hurt!) I'm not targeting trophy fish either for a first go-keeping the lures on the shorter side, but know I must be prepared for whatever bites... and so, I am asking the questions here to be better prepared for me and the fish. I am also a conservation minded individual...skdds
  14. Thanks guys, very good advise much appreciated..I am busy going through all the info I can get will up some of my tackle too..just in case.. handled some good size pike before, but this sounds different, and I don't want to get hooked by a musky lure. I'd be a little shocked if I hook a good size fish my first time out....Suggestions for rod and line: I was thinking 50lb test braid and Heavy action rod. I already have 50lb fluro leader used for pike..I have a good set of pliers and cutters.
  15. Thanks for the tip. Seems like Black and orange is a popular colour combo...I've also read a few posts here talking about "Jake" and "Believer" lures. Never heard of these. Are/how are they used this time of year or not?-skdds
  16. Hi Guys, Heading to Pigeon Lake in about two weeks. Anybody been there recently? Hows the bite, lure suggestions for Muskie and Walleye? Thanks skdds
  17. Thanks Guys, ..this is my third trip there..could fish POB for a whole life and never hit all the potential spots. May come back for the next trip in the fall, also always wanted to try the French a little farther up the road..skdds
  18. Back to POB this year, weather awful ( as usual...was supposed to be 3 days of sun when I booked-became three days of cold and rain once I got there) In search for eyes...did not disappoint! Had to work hard to get em, and managed to land about 6 in the 19-25" range as well as a couple eaters. Most productive in the Shawanaga River. Tough weekend, but better than working as the saying goes and I will still have a fish fry when I get home. Enjoy the pic, did not take too many photos unfortunately.-skdds
  19. Thanks for the info, I can understand that point very well! Still better than not trying though!-skdds
  20. ...Heard these too, I was hoping it was bad Joke!..So what do you do this East/North wind conditions??
  21. ..Hi guys, Does wind direction play a big part in how fish respond?. I'm hopefully heading to GB area next week and was told that the fishing has been hard (walleye mostly) because of many days of Easterly winds. I think the forcast shows south winds early this week changing to light NE winds next weekend..is this important? Suggestions to improve the odds? don't want to drive there to get skunked!..thanks skdds
  22. thanks, will check it out- skdds
  23. Thanks for the invite!..not sure if the date will work though, I was thinking a week or two ealier
  24. Hi Guys, Hope to plan a June fishing trip-Walleye/Pike, I was thinking about the French River. Anyone been there in recent years? Lower Delta? Main or North Channel? Any suggestions for lodges? Thanks! Skdds
  25. Was there at Rock Pine last year for opener..no walleye for me, but a number of good pike in the sheltered bays.. used a few different jerkbaits...many, many bays to hit. I enlisted the help of a guide ...name was Jeremy, great guy and knows the area really well and worked really hard to put me onto fish...check out my post from last year..fishing was tough last year for opener but still a really nice place to go..dress for everything..last year was warm, windy, rain and snow all in three days. I froze my ^&% a few times...but you are there with your girlfriend so you should be OK . Good Luck and post a report when you get back.-skdds
