Ive done alot of business in the Bermuda. Its a very expensive place to live. I was offered a position there and turned it down for this reason and the fact that Ontario rocks and dispite being taxed to death I still like it here more. There is a reason they have trouble attracting skilled workers. Still very much a colonial system with the wealth in the hands of very few.
Make a point to travel across Labrador. Awesome fishing to be had right beside the highway and amazing scenery. License is dirt cheap and brookies, landlocked salmon, pike ,whitefish and lakers all available.
IN line pinners like mepps work great there for smallies and eyes. If im out in the canoe myself I will bottom bounce a bucktail jig tipped with a leach or worm along bottom. Has always worked well for the eyes there.
Never underestimate kids and their fishing abilities. My son caught his first fish all by himself flyfishing at age 2.
Here he is with a couple of really good smallies that he caught all by himself when he was 5 and 6 respectively
Here he is wet wading for smallies by himself at age 5
Notice that he doesnt wear a lifejacket. Thats because he started swimming lessons at 3 months of age and by the time of this photo could swim better than most adults.
Prob;em is he got so good at fishing that it was to boring for him for his early teen years but hes back to loving it again and cant wait to get time off from baseball so he can head out with me some more.
We're going camping and fishing for the long weekend and I cant wait probably the last summer we get to do it together for a few years as hes headed off to school in the US in fall of 2010
Im one of those who beleive we place the boundaries on what kids can accomplish. Dont impose bounderies of what they can accomplish and they will shock you with what they can achieve
If your up to some wet wading go to were the creek flows out of Cyprus Lake. There is an extensive shoal there wade out as far as you can and cast to the drop off both smallies and eyes like that spot.
Dude that is not camping. But here is one that is great for familys

Good fishing, indoor and outdoor swimming, kids activities.
If you can take the canoes out of the park then go over to Friday Lake on Roosevelt Rd you can launch right from the road. Great smallmouth fishing. But then again so is Timagami.
Never had a problem with Shimano. Take it back to were you bought it. Have them ship it to Shimano It might take a bit of time but ive Never seen anything not replaced or repaired. As for the tackle shop they are not responsible for warrantying product even if you bought it there. But they should take the product in for you and ship it off for warranty replaced at a small shipping charge. If you bought the rod from online or US I can only say tough crap then. You saved a few bucks to lose a whole lot more. Local tackle shops need our support. Small shops provide customer service and that cost overhead. Thats why their prices are higher. But when you have a problem Ive never known a local shop to not stand behind their customer when it comes to battling the manufacturer. And they have way more buying power and clout than you do.
Yeah I know a GB trib that holds steelhead snakes right through the summer they get over this huge logjam in the spring freshet and cant get back down again tiill the fall. They are very eel like by early august.
If one more person says to me "hey arent you Babe Winkelman?Im going to jam thid flippin stick right up their back side.
But on a serous note I use to teach and guide flyfishing. Fun became work it was no longer fun.
