  1. Been catching them good in the area so see you there.
  2. I've been part of that scene for 2 decades in the spring and its a tonne of fun. I generally fish with a slip float and single eggs or bags witha 13 foot float rod targeting "silvers" but do have some great days on the Whitefish also. I also do the double-anchored jigging deal out of a boat and that produces more Whitefish for us with short rods as you mentioned. Never tried any sort of high-vis line as this is strictly a feel thing for me. Chumming does help the bite for sure.
  3. Intersting poll for sure. My take is that if you chose to pursue tournament fishing, being in shape can help maintain stamina and elevate performance, thereby giving you a competitive edge. There is on on going study right now of some Bassmaster Elite anglers. Read the article here
  4. Here is the schedule for AL LINDNER Friday 5pm Saturday 11:30am fishandboatshow
  5. On behalf of the organizer whom I'm lucky to call a friend, here is the schedule for AL LINDNER: Friday 5pm Saturday 11:30am
  6. I believe its random chance but Cooks is one of the 3 areas on Simcoe I have caught or seen caught a true 2lb perch (ice or not) on a "regular" basis. That being said, you have to do everything in your powers to stack the deck in your favour (its really the definition of angling). I personally have 1 goal ever time I hit that lake for "rings", its to get one that weighs 2.26 lbs or better verified, weighed, documented & released. There are certainly less 10-12 inch Perch then I recall even a decade ago but I've seen the sport and efficiency of ice anglers grow quicker in that period to, probably more then any other fishing niche.
  7. Ive been using them for Bass for about 4 years after fishing a few California Lakes. They do select for bigger fish but they are tools that need a particular committment and mindset to really see the benefits of. I would highly recommend BBZ to really get into it large. Basstrix Minnow (Hollow bodied swimbait) is now all the rage- Berkley will have a version out after Bassmaster Classic. I throw a few by Huddlestone, 3:16 and California Swimbabes. Some of the Storm lures that suspend are good if you can find them (SLAB CRAPPIE). I'm onto a mind set of 2-3 bites per day which are usually photo worthy fish (5 lbs+). My log book for Toronto Harbour reveals for 2007, 13 Swimbait Largemouth of 4lbs or better over 32 "trips". I caught an equal number on jig and Senko respectivly but now do catch fish from "different water" then I used to fish so I guess thats a plus.
  8. I received an update that they corrected a problem on their mail server. Those that registered should receive confirmations. Write them if you experience issues.
  9. Sent to your email. Im writing the site mentioning recent registration problems.
  10. Have some patience and MAYBE this weekend. It is starting to firm up again. All operators have pulled off and are off as of today.
  11. Ive done the place 3 times (back 10 years now) and I've never had anyone go further then Bill for his visitors. ( I hope its still under his guidance) He would actually launch our bassboats with his 4 wheeler for us. Our traditional weekend for that trip was first week of June and we found Crappie still near shallow wood cover in muck covered bays, Pike in emerging cabbage beds. The Walleye fishing was great once we figured out what was happening and where. Its easy to get disorientated with the amount of islands so GPS is pretty important, and pretty easy to ding a prop if your not 100% devoted to what you are doing.
  12. Anglers Atlas Some of the old MNR hydrographic charts have been liscensed to this site. A great deal of smaller lakes are available for FREE!!
  13. I cant wait to try that jerkbait on some green and brown fish. Try to find a big spool of phone cable to tie it with. BTw.. joined the Nascar Pool
  14. Well I wish this thaw would last a little longer because the local ditch around my place is just loaded with Chrome! Snuck out for 2 hours this morning and is was bonkers from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. All fish on green roe sacs under float. Then it was time to wash up and get to moms for pig out and watch some football. The cake was great but getting on in years isn't. My mom has a keen interest in my fishing addiction and really likes me to stay dry and also catch big ones. Thanks Mom for the new Gore-tex and Husky Jerk!! All in all a great birthday!!
  15. Thanks for the read. I was touched so much that I wrote to contact the writer to offer a day fishing at the Islands this spring.
  16. Hard to narrow the shots down but here we go. Simcoe Perch Toronto Harbour Largemouth Fall Simcoe Perch Toronto Harbour Largemouth Lake Simcoe Northern Lake Simcoe Smallies
  17. Seeing how key spots hold big fish of all species together. On Rice Lake, I have found a rock pile in the middle of the lake that holds bass, crappie, 'eyes, gills & 'skis most of the time. They look like happy neigbours swimming around together but I'm sure hell does break loose down there from time to time. The 'eyes always bash the camera lens when it is raised above the rocks. In Owen Sound, watching the whitefish & trout feeding on my clump of chummed roe is a blast in 50-70 feet of water. On Erie, seeing the bottom littered with gobies and how current affects everything down there. My original Agua_VU with Infra red, although bulky is celebrating its 10th birthday and has made me a better angler.
  18. Goliath Grouper????? Its a Lake Simcoe Smallmouth...the new Dale Hollow......
  19. Pick a weekend in summer, get there about 2pm ( you see both lauch & load @ that time). Bring a camera.
  20. Agreed, even if just around the town launch to eat the guys launching and loading boats with their waders on.
  21. ill be there in the blue CLAM. come by and say hi!!
  22. Thanks. Caught more Smallmouth today then the day we were out.
  23. Wow..... stiff and sore but all if GREAT when you have a real good day on the ice. Fished east side of Simcoe today on about 8 inches of ice in 16 FOW and had non stop action all day long. Seen hundreds of perch swim under hole today with some real monsters. All fish caught sight fishing with jiggin rap WC3 in silver. SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW hovering, not jigging key. Released 2 dozen at 13 inches and kept count of 11 inches. Landed well over 150 today. Best bite 9-11am. Slippery, bring cleats.
