  1. npt1 a similar product I have seen here http://www.emhart.com/products/helicoil/heliex/design.asp Just a question of getting the ez-out, out. Thanks guys! Got some ideas to think about now, having someone else mess with it sounds like fun to me.
  2. Brian, a couple of machine tool suppliers in the area, will try to get out and look tomorrow. I have a pretty good selection of stainless bolts, if not one of the guys I used to compete against in Bass tournaments runs one of the supply shops, a good dude. LOL diamonds on a wedding ring? Never enough! Them little rocks will buy a lot of tackle but wimmins just ain`t practical. LOL Whitespinnerbait, doors lift off the stove, easy to replace door. it might come to that, if they still have parts in stock for an old stove.
  3. LOL Glen certainly looks that way now! LOL Brian have to get the wife to take off the wedding ring and glue them rocks to a bit? Never had this much of a problem with a bolt, but I usually don`t let them sit in a fire for 19 years, heating and cooling in the wood burner may have drawn the temper out of them? Maybe just cheap bolts, when you start busting them off with a 1/4 inch rachet?
  4. Figured it wasn`t going to be an easy battle when I heard the snap Joe. Just using a 1/4 inch socket wrench on it, never had one break before, I am always real careful using them. Don`t think it was cold enough here to affect the metal. Bolt wasn`t bottomed out in the boss, I could feel when the drill reached the end of the bolt and put PB Blaster in the hole. Don`t put PB Blaster in a plastic cup it will eat it up! Can wouldn`t spray so I poked a hole in it and drained it in the cup, about 5 minutes and it fell apart. I do have some real small drills maybe I can drill around the ez-out but then? Wax may help?
  5. doug the bolts hold on a metal frame that holds the widows in place, the frames were falling apart so for safety I decided to replace them. Bolt is on a cast tapered boss on the door, 1/4 - 20 bolt and the boss in only about 1/2 inch square. A project for the summer I let go too long, but I have to work when I got an extra set of legs around to do the walking for me. Might have to look for a carbide end mill to clamp in the drill press to cut through thru the ez-out. Worst come to worst there is a welding shop on the circle here that might have a plan. Never broke one before so I am fishing for ideas. Bolt doesn`t go thru.
  6. LOL douG it`s only 19 years old! Cost a thousand bucks back then and the smaller ones are now 1800 and made in China? We forgot how to cast iron here?
  7. Tried to get a bolt out on the wood burner door(cast iron), bolt broke off in the door. Soaked it in PB Blaster penetrating lube for a couple days, drilled thru the bolt with the drill press, lubed again with penetrating oil. inserted ez-out and broke that rascal off in the bolt. Looking for a plan B, ez-out is from Mac tools and I am guessing a special temper or hardness? Never tried to drill thru one before. Any suggestions?
  8. Maureen, used to by and sell a lot of reels on e-bay years ago, that was one reason I stopped. Way to may phishing attempts.
  9. Poodle? The small one not the standard. Got two Boston Terriers ourselves, they shed but small short hair, great dogs though.
  10. A lot depends of the type of weeds and how thick they are. You can flip to the open holes in some with a jig and pig, or flip in a soft plastic bait rigged weedless Texas style. Some soft plastics will sink with just the weight of a good strong 4/0-5/0 hook, senko type lures. Some flats you get a gap between the weeds and the surface, a crankbait that runs just above the weeds can work well, even if you are catching the weed every once in a while just rip it free, looks like a bait fish darting from cover. Spinner bait can get through some of the Kelp looking weeds in some areas up there, you can develop a feel for the lure working through it. Unless there are open spots a conventional spinner bait might not be much use, but a short arm that you can let flutter down jig style can work Picture the weeds as a tree, bushy at the top and a stem at the bottom, you can punch through with a heavy jig to more open water below, generally need a 3/4 ounce or heavier jig to do it but it also can work. Caught bass in places you couldn`t see the water, too many weeds and or lilies on top, a scum frog or similar bait dragged across the top, the bass will blow thru the weeds to get it, wait till you feel the weight of the fish on to set the hook. If the weed aren`t just a mat on the surface one of my favorite ways is a 6 inch lizard rigged Texas style with just enough weight to allow it to settle slowly when stopped, I swim it across the surface of the weeds slowly and allow it to settle into any small pockets. All kinds of surface lures can work if the weeds aren`t too thick, just a matter of picking one to match the cover, obviously a buzzbait may come through some easier than a hard bait with a couple of trebles dangeling. Jig and pig in cover sort of goes from a forward progress lure to an up and down movement lure, shake and wait. Outside edges of weedbeds are places I don`t pass up, a million ambush points for bass and other species. Best results are with a lure you can keep in the water and weed free. I never move into the weeds with out fishing the edge first and there is no real telling where in the weeds there might be a bunch of bass. Quiet movement can get hits right next to the boat. I like to drift through them, used the electric motor if I had to, but tried to avoid it. You can`t catch fish in the weeds unless you make a serious attempt at it and see what works for you and be willing to experiment. Caught bass pitching a floating Rapala to open spots and twitching it, jigging a grub on a jig head in tiny openings. One of my favorite spots to lose big pike and skis on the same lures.
  11. A number of my friends have had them, though not those brands, small water here in Ohio except for Lake Erie. Like 90 percent of the lakes are under 3000 acres, great boats for small water that`s not rough, and if your on a tight budget do your really need more? What you do on the water is much more important than what your are doing it in as long as it`s safe.
  12. Just a spin off from pike slayers comment, I used to do some shore fishing here in Ohio. Ponds were closer than most lakes, and the time required to drive home and get the boat out meant launching in the dark. I used to carry a tackle box when shore fishing, a large one. I went to a back pack and narrowed down my gear in it. The things I may have needed in a tournament in a boat usually weren`t needed fishing from shore and I sure didn`t need to carry as much. Some lures work great in some lakes, some will work well in most, those are the ones to lug around if you fish different bodies of water. Keep a log if you can`t remember what lure has caught what, where. Colors can matter, never needed every one in a hard bait, chrome and black or blue= baitfish, green, firetiger, perch=panfish, crawfish pattern. Most of the basses food supply. Just guessing that 80% or so of my bass from shore came on soft plastics, even at night, plastic worms, lizards, tubes. Carried a few proven baits to strain the water column but not a bunch. Lot of baits in the bag can be impressive, but what is in the bag can be also.

  19. Congrats Dale! Nice job with the release! Too pretty of a fish to kill, but most are.
  20. Why did more Britons than Americans die on the Titanic? A: Because they wore inappropriate clothing for swimming B: Because they were more polite, queuing for the lifeboats C: Because they wanted to finish their supper and didn't get into the lifeboats in time The answer was B A behavioural economist says data suggests Britons in that era were more inclined to be "gentlemanly" while Americans were more "individualist". Read more: 'Polite' Britons died on Titanic "individualist".? maybe more concealed weapons?
