And u guys gripe about costs down south
OhioFisherman replied to mr blizzard's topic in General Discussion
One of the local grocery stores had a sale on whole boneless ribeyes for 4.99 a pound right before grilling season started here. I bought 3 and we cut them into steaks and vacuum packed them. Now that summer is here they are around 9 bucks a pound, more than I would pay. -
Brian, I watched a couple of hours of the live feed, the two guys they were focused on were definitely smallie fishing. A lot of follows but not many bites between 12:00 and 2PM or so. I think both were a long way from the ramp, an hour or so? No clue, that would sort of be an entirely new deal for me fishing in that type of constant current, I think someone mentioned it was 5mph? Lake Erie and most lakes here can get a bit windy, but we don't have anything with a constant current like that. Even one of our area rivers wasn't bad unless there was a heavy rain, but it is nothing like that river. I have seen the Niagara from Ft.Erie to the Falls, I can picture that being challenging also to fish.

I am not sure how your system works up there, so things may be different. I fought two tickets here in Ohio where the officer was clearly wrong, neither were for speed. You go to court and plead not guilty? The officer is not there, they schedule you to come back another day for a hearing, and the officer is there. I drove an 18 wheeler for a living, keeping unjust points off of my driver's license was important to me. In both cases my tickets were thrown out, I ate the ones I deserved. In both cases I had pictures that proved the officer was wrong, but he got paid to show up in court, and I didn't.

" possessing non-baitfish species " That was a concern for me when I bought bait in Ontario, I don't recall ever getting a receipt for a bait fish purchase, but once you have them in your boat? A species that isn't a bait fish in on you? Is a moon eye a bait fish? I had never seen one until I bought bait in Ontario, and it didn't look right, so I didn't take it. I knew smallies and trout weren't bait fish. Perhaps some confusion could be avoided by allowing non residents to catch bait from the water they are fishing?

N/F another possible Lake Erie water issue?

While I don't doubt that tourism may play a part? I found it odd that it was mentioned and not farming? -
N/F another possible Lake Erie water issue?
OhioFisherman replied to OhioFisherman's topic in General Discussion
Old, once again the rains started here shortly after planting in my area. I imagine Toledo, a good distance west of me experienced the same thing? A lot of the problems seem to be from runoff from farmers fields. " Lake Erie BloomsA record outbreak of blooming microcystis occurred in Lake Erie 2011, in part related to the wettest spring on record, and expanded lake bottom dead zones, reduced fish populations, fouled beaches, and the local tourism industry that generates more than $10 billion in revenue annually. " Funny that they didn't directly mention farming activity? -

Kids worm business shut down by city
OhioFisherman replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
I wonder if the bait dealers pushed for that too though, I can recall a few times going to a bait store in Ontario for minnows and getting little smallmouth and trout mixed in with them. -

Didn't Ontario ban non residents that paid for a fishing license from catching their own bait? -
I am guessing a real worm would require a lot less movement than a plastic one? It does have a natural scent and look to it?
