  1. " The fishing, for me, was only consistent between 8-9 pm. For whatever reason I got skunked at all other times of the day no matter the lure, for any species other than rock bass! Why? I don't know but always open to suggestions from you guys.?? " I have seen some areas on lakes shut down pretty good once the boat traffic started, on others they seemed to stay shallow to take advantage of the waves created by boat traffic scattering baitfish and crawfish to feed. Hard to say, some lakes here seem to have no night bite at all, on others that is the time to be there. Years on going north, and only 1 northern pike after dark, was it me or the water?
  2. I don't have a particular favorite, but kudos to all of them, even the ones not fishing today. Most of the lakes I fished in tournaments were 2000 acres or less, and being able to find fish consistently and get them to bite could be difficult. I can't imagine trying to do the same in a 100 or so mile long area. LOL, there has to be a million spots that look good? Modern electronics has sure made their jobs easier? The hot lure for Muskie on the St. Lawrence next week might be a struggling smallmouth finish?
  3. As near as I can tell from this ike has 3 for 10# it's early, he will need more. http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/basstrakk
  4. I saw a couple of the tournaments you guys had there, 7 pound smallies with this crew could also get interesting? Seems like a great group of people to hang out with.
  5. It would be interesting to see them hold an event on Lake Simcoe?
  6. I am just guessing that most of those largemouth came from back bays and areas sheltered from the current, they aren't dumb enough to fight that current full time. LOL
  7. Ike with a 5.11 smallie, that's more like it.
  8. One of the local grocery stores had a sale on whole boneless ribeyes for 4.99 a pound right before grilling season started here. I bought 3 and we cut them into steaks and vacuum packed them. Now that summer is here they are around 9 bucks a pound, more than I would pay.
  9. Brian, I watched a couple of hours of the live feed, the two guys they were focused on were definitely smallie fishing. A lot of follows but not many bites between 12:00 and 2PM or so. I think both were a long way from the ramp, an hour or so? No clue, that would sort of be an entirely new deal for me fishing in that type of constant current, I think someone mentioned it was 5mph? Lake Erie and most lakes here can get a bit windy, but we don't have anything with a constant current like that. Even one of our area rivers wasn't bad unless there was a heavy rain, but it is nothing like that river. I have seen the Niagara from Ft.Erie to the Falls, I can picture that being challenging also to fish.
  10. Looks like 20# bags will be in short supply again today. Some of the guys I watched were fishing a lot shallower than I would have expected.
  11. I am not sure how your system works up there, so things may be different. I fought two tickets here in Ohio where the officer was clearly wrong, neither were for speed. You go to court and plead not guilty? The officer is not there, they schedule you to come back another day for a hearing, and the officer is there. I drove an 18 wheeler for a living, keeping unjust points off of my driver's license was important to me. In both cases my tickets were thrown out, I ate the ones I deserved. In both cases I had pictures that proved the officer was wrong, but he got paid to show up in court, and I didn't.

  13. LOL Brian, I have been to the deep south once in my life, the Tampa Florida area in August, that was a mistake, way too hot and muggy for me, I thought I was in a jungle. I am sure it's probably a lot better in the winter though compared to here. Give me a Canadian summer any day!
  14. All the southern gentlemen that love the weather? That might change if they spent a winter there? LOL
  15. Didn't see pictures of the water, but wind and the current have been an issue both days. Seems like some guys have been feeding smallies to musky? LOL
  16. http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/basstrakk A lot of zeros in the fish count today, yesterday that didn't seem an issue? Never been there, I can imagine that wind and current could change a pattern in a hurry?
  17. Hmmm... A 6.3 largemouth is big fish so far today.
  18. " possessing non-baitfish species " That was a concern for me when I bought bait in Ontario, I don't recall ever getting a receipt for a bait fish purchase, but once you have them in your boat? A species that isn't a bait fish in on you? Is a moon eye a bait fish? I had never seen one until I bought bait in Ontario, and it didn't look right, so I didn't take it. I knew smallies and trout weren't bait fish. Perhaps some confusion could be avoided by allowing non residents to catch bait from the water they are fishing?

  24. While I don't doubt that tourism may play a part? I found it odd that it was mentioned and not farming?
