  1. They are a real small mouth bait of choice in the river. You are right though, they don't want to eat them, they just want to kill them.
  2. WOW!! Thats amazing! Time to go !
  3. These are both JC Dicks baits from West Virginia. The company was eventually bought by crane. The top one is actually a Crane bait under the other company name and the bottom one is an original JC Dicks which is about 30 years old. They were big time muskie catchers in the Little Kanawha River and Hughes Rivers in and around Parkersburg, WV from what I udnerstand. Here are some others from the same company... These have teeth marks in them... The rest are new from factory
  4. I collect these, don't actually fish with them, but am looking for some beaters to fish with... anyone seen any of these around here? I don't know they would have made it this far north, but I have found on in Canada. They haven't been manufactured for around 25 years though..
  5. People photoshope their photos so you don't see where they are carp fishing? Wow, I didn't realize it was such a secret society. I run into carp holes wading the Otonoabee and the Trent Canal system almost every time I am out... maybe I can sell this information... haha.
  6. Anyone have any of these and catch Muskie on them? Any idea if they are for sale in Ontario or are they mail order only?
  7. Im going to have to agree, I find that a little creepy as well. But I guess the fight and fun outweighs the 'creepiness'
  8. i was there opening night, but got there late, so finding a place to fish from was difficult. There were lots of people catching fish, mostly from the bridge though with their big hula hoops nets. Once guy had one that I would guess weighed in at around 10 lbs. We caught a few cats that night strangely enough, but not pickerel. Haven't been back since it opened though....
  9. Does it look like these?
  10. Wow, that is incredible. Anyone have any good suggestions for catching muskie in any rivers, lakes from shore for the opener?
  11. Ok, so the baits I mainly have a handle on then.. What about Rods - Length, stiffness? I assume the Shimano curado I have will work... How heavy should the line be? Is there a leader necessary? Thanks!
  12. This Saturday... Im going to venture out this year and try to catch some Musky (to pacify myself until I can legally fish for Bass) WHat kind of rigs are you using? Bait, rods, reels, ect? I have never done it before, so any help for this poor noob is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  13. I collect antique tackle... shoot me a pic and I can give you all the info on whatever you have...
  14. Depending on what email program you are using, you can just set rules to autmatically put those message in the trash.
  15. Looks like it exceeded bandwidth... if you upload it to youtube there are no restrictions...
  16. Ok, good call. Within an hour of Peterborough
  17. Looking to rent a boat for a day sometime in the near future. Where is a good place to rent a boat in the Kawarthas?
  18. check out f150online.com there is more info than you will ever need
  19. Im a lowly shore fisherman... maybe I'll head up and try Selwyn out
  20. Yeah, I'd like to get into some crappie... where are they catching them? Haven't caught any crappie since I moved north of the border...
  21. I agree, sounds like a good idea. I used to work for a Newspaper in WV, and people caught Paddelfish out of the Ohio, but they were not too common. They had a bunch die because of a draught and lack of oxygen. Strangely enough, I used to live in Louisville too at 22nd and Bank Streets, close to the river, just don't get caught fishing late at night in that area of town. Might not be safe, haha. I live in Ontario now though..
  22. Good links, thanks! I think my presentation is just screwed up. I need to change the angle Im fishing from and cast up stream instead of just letting the bait fall into the current and carry it away... does that sound right?
  23. Hey guys, been doing some fishing on the Otonobee in the Peterborough area, but havent' had much luck. Threw minnows and jigs all weekend and didnt come up with any pickerel. I grew up in the south, so bass fishing in my forte, but I would like to figure pickerel out. What are some tips to catch them? Will I catch them inthe river from the bank away from the locks/ dams or is that were they all are right now? What are the best rigs to use and where do the pickerel normally stay, in the fast water, where the fast water peters out, still water? Thanks for the info in advance! Wask
