    Tiger

Beauty fish! I'm sure people are asking why they are a bad thing...here is why: Tiger Musky apparently have evolved to avoid head-on competition with northern pike. If northern pike find their way into muskie water, they seem to proliferate at the expense of muskies. Why does the northern pike compete better? The earlier-hatching northern pike prey on newly hatched muskie if the two species use the same spawning areas. Pike fry are present about 2 weeks earlier than Musky fry...
  4. Try off the pier, but if you use minnows, watch out for those diving ducks! Tony
  5. I did some reading and thought this was interesting... It looks like they over-winter in the Great Lakes...their home range is way WAY up north Tony
  6. Thanks Ron! I thought it was that, but the photo's I saw for that type had a really long pin-like tail. That photo you posted is a direct match. Tony
  7. Unfortunately, one of them decided to eat the minnow that was on my hook and I caught it...(released of course) There were about a dozen of them that were diving and catching baitfish with ease. They were diving in the inner-harbour and I was fishing on the lake side at Bronte, so I thought I was safe, but the one I caught must have swam a relatively long distance underwater as I was keeping an eye out for them on the surface where I was fishing... Anyone know what type of Duck these are? The one that I hooked was the black and white looking one on the right...I think they are the same species though male/female? Tony
  8. I use 6lb in the fall...the fish are rarely over 10lbs.
  9. Those are some great wild Steelhead!
  10. Very nice...I've had success with the bigger 5" worms in dirty water. I will rig them up with a bead & small treble hook though, there is too much rubber to get in the way with just a single hook. Tony
  11. That is some beautiful scenery to be fishing in, you lucky dog Great fish! Were you using the Berkley 3" Pink worms? Tony
  12. Tremendous inflammation huh? I got 25lb Channel Catfish from the Moon River... Nice fish!
  13. I agree Kory...I've fished for them for 15 years and still wouldn't consider myself an expert...there is always something to learn! And marriage shouldn't be a downfall to us fisherman...choose wisely Tony
  14. You won't regret it Zib
  15. Some solid fish there!! It's good to put a face to the name too! Thanks again for the help at the clean-up. Things should heat up be next weekend, fishing-wise.
  16. I've been there and done that...unless you can't wear contact lenses, I would recommend getting contacts and then getting a pair of fishing polarized sunglasses. The wrap-around style of the fishing sunglasses reduces the amount of light entering in behind your lenses (between your eyes and the lenses) reducing the glare further and allowing better polarized views. Tony
  17. Eveyone's a self-professed expert Steelheader Solo, didn't you know? They're not really that hard to catch, especially drifting Roe...
  18. I'll be in that position very soon...knowing what Lunds cost, I'm sure Irishfield will be voting yes on this thread as well
  19. Excellent photos!!! it's great to capture a trip of a lifetime like that with great photos to remember it by. Were you getting the Sturgs on roe still? or worms? Tony
  20. Finally temps are out of the double-digits! It always sends the majority of anglers running for their slippers and blankies...leaving more fish for the rest of us who fish in the miserable weather All we need now is some serious rainfall. Tony
  21. I absolutely LOVE my Avid 9' Steelhead rod for tossing hardware! The model is ASLG90LM2 and more information can be found on the St. Croix Rods website - http://stcroixrods.com/rods/default2.asp?r...mp;section=spin Here is a picture of the handle in the foreground... The reel I have is the St Croix Avid 200 I think, but they are actually made by Daiwa. The parent reel being the Team Daiwa Advantage 2000 I believe... Don't cheap out on the rod, there is nothing more exhilirating than a Steelhead smashing your lure, and you want to feel that angry fish through a nice rod. Tony
  22. I saw that in the lates OOD magazine...yeah I'll drive for an hour on a Sunday night at 7pm to go shopping for overpriced tackle
  23. I've ordered 3 times from them this year and it has taken 6-8 business days each time, excellent service!
  24. Thanks a million! to those who showed up today to help out with the clean-up. It made the 2 hours we alotted fly by and the results were excellent! Here are some shots from the day...(beautiful weather I might add!) Showing the younger generation, it's never to early or late to start making a difference, and that every 'little' bit helps Helping out with the clean-up shows that there is no grey area when it comes to who is responsible for the future of our resources... It's pretty clear and in.... & OK...maybe some people showed up to look for some unique OUTDOOR apparel for their wardrobe We were pleased to have the hard working bowshep out to put his solid dent in the war against trash This just goes to show how bad the water situation is, the fish must run a long shallow stretch or somehow navigate through this mess!! Thanks again to everyone, you know who you are! The junkyard dogs... Here's to wishing everyone good fishing, and please don't litter when you are out enjoying the outdoors. Tony
