Mono is more forgiving when you are learning and cheaper to replace if you end up with the mother of all birds nests (I heard from a friend). Pound test is a little more tricky and has a lot to do with rod/lure/conditions and preferences. The general rule of thumb is 10lb test mono is as thin as you should go, so 12-14 might be good for the fishing you described. If you do go with braid then 30lb test is about as thin as you should go (again, general rule of thumb) and does work for most of our inland fishing unless you are way back in the slop for bass or you are targeting big pike/muskie. When fishing bass I don't bother with a leader except if I have braid and I'm looking for a little more stealth and tie on some flouro. If you run into pike while bass fishing then a beefier floor leader can help. I don't use wire leaders often but they can be handy if they don't dampen the action of your lure.

I'd be interested to see the cranks If we ever get down to our friends in Tillsonburg.

I’d been using Plano type boxes, but wanted a designated box for the lures and this was the option I went with. Three 10 foot vinyl downspouts and a Rubbermaid container. Ten inch jakes and believers are the longest I have and 11 inch sections fit in the box. Now to fill those other spots...

Local news talked about some ice rescues on the Innisfil side today. High winds not helping the ice either.

I'd be more likely to try wood glue with the cork saw dust. I think Outdoor Canada or Ontario out of Doors just had a cork handle touch-up tip.

Anyone have experience with fishingtacklestore ? You can send me a pm.

CP24 Headline: Man airlifted to hospital in critical condition after falling through ice on Lake Simcoe I can’t seem to share the link. ????

Maybe I haven't focused on the musky/mustache aspect as much as I should have. lol
-
Maybe I should have asked what worked best in your boat Rizzo.
-
No doubt. Depth, action, speed and size are more important, but once that's all been sorted there is only so much that can be debated in the boat. 'Cept Marry Ann/Ginger. lol

All my believers are natural colours (my bias). I do have a 8 inch silver with black. I've thought of painting one of them but can't bring myself to do it and the new ones come it some really nice colours that I can't bring myself to paint over either. How does that go? I don't have a tackle addiction. I have a storage problem.

I've been looking at getting some Double D's and Triples. I've held off because I've used salt water x-raps and others to fill that niche and my lure collection out of control already, but my will is weak.

I've got a couple (dozen) lures that haven't produced fish and that is what I've considered painting them. Jail bird stripes on one and skunk on another. Yellow/black is the other I've considered.
-
No right answers and almost limitless options and opinions but this is something I struggle with. For most of my fishing because of "clear" water I tend to favour natural patterns. That's my bias, but for musky I know lots go with patterns and colours that are anything but natural and I do as well, but I still have a strong desire to go natural. Anyway, it's January.

Ya, no trips to the states for a while for this guy. Florida in July was humidex of 44 celsius everyday and 35 at night. A/C worked everywhere we went is the only reason I'm still here. No fishing but I banked lots of points… or worked my way closer to net zero. lol

Ya, I don't know I want to look at photos of me from that long ago.😲

Those are some nice fish your son caught.

My understanding is that while there are some there they aren't in the numbers that other lakes have. Having said that, maybe there are good numbers of them but the guys are keeping quiet about them.

Kwik Fish lures, looking for,,,,,,,,,,,

Irish with some genuine Helin flatfishes. There was a long period of time in my youth where all I needed was a frog pattern flatfish to catch all the bass, walleye and pike on Nipissing. -

I’ve got one fire tiger but it’s 6 inches long. Would the Mag Lip from Yakima suit your needs? They have a lot of those Great Lakes salmon type colours. -
Nice. Did you catch any fish though?

Would you have to buy the whole housing instead?
