  1. Isn't the imperial weights and measure system great.
  2. Confidence, real or imagined, has a strong influence on colour as well as lure selection.
  3. Great day! I thought that picture of Cody and his stuff was a prize table.
  4. how do you test batteries? It used to be with my little brother's tongue.
  5. The line guide should spin, so there shouldn't be much friction/wear.
  6. I find all braided lines noisier than mono and I hate the sound. I've never had the same pound test of different brands on the same outfit so I can't accurately compare different brand's "noise" factor. Quality guides are usually not much of a problem, just make sure to check them a little more often. On most reels some sort of backing needs to be used to prevent slipping and some knots don't work as well as others. Braid in not mono, if you treat braid the same way as mono you will have problems. Good luck. Tight lines.
  7. Thanks for the useful information. Catch a big 'un.
  8. The regs are a bite of a pain for that area, and I don't want to mislead you. On most of my spinners (big and small) I've switched the trebles for single hooks. It helps to keep me legal in different areas, doesn't get snagged as much, gets better hook sets and it's easier to un-hook fish.
  9. No big deal for a small boat. Lots of channels and protected bays, with some bigger water near by. I'd be more worried about leaving a trail of bread crumbs to find my way home. Lots of great spots for my canoe. Hope this link works, it should be a map of the area to give you an idea. http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/maps...nodata_ntdb_50k
  10. Hey Lew my dad used to own a corvair, he said it would go like stink... but couldn't stop for snot. Apparently most of his cars from the 60's shared those characteristics.
  11. Are the Dave Mercer bobble heads more suited to castin' or trollin'?
  12. What's the big idea of goofing off during the first two casts??? Solid fish, she/he probably rules Grenadier.
  13. This is clearly a non-fishing tread, why is it not marked as such? The collective it strong.
  14. I have only used the 8lb test/ 3lb diameter crystal. I've used other firelines before and this spool was on sale. I use a mono or floro leader with it. It's on a 1000 stratic med/light set-up that I use for light jigs for walleye. No issues for me, but I don't know if there is much difference from the other firelines.
  15. IMHO. I don't think those first two are tigers, or Terry's. But I wouldn't stake much in two photos for a positive id.
  16. Glad you had the pool near by in case of an emergency. lol Kids big and small eh?
  17. Here are a few shots from Barrie's lake front. http://picasaweb.google.ca/robrice72/Canad...244002237231346 http://picasaweb.google.ca/robrice72/Canad...244191686995778 http://picasaweb.google.ca/robrice72/Canad...244192666055282 http://picasaweb.google.ca/robrice72/Canad...244215835434194
  18. I go out for a quick paddle on Canada Day and this happens??? It's only been 5 hours and I feel like I almost missed out. September in Canada, I make sure my auger is sharp. I think Dawg really does like us.
  19. Link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/socialstudies Globe and Mail: A DAILY MISCELLANY OF INFORMATION BY MICHAEL KESTERTON MICHAEL KESTERTON; [email protected] July 1, 2008 A great idea From The Globe's editorial for July 1, 1867: "The Union of the provinces of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, takes effect today. We heartily congratulate our readers on the event, and fervently pray that all the blessings anticipated from the measure, by its promoters, may be fully realized. As far as the people of Upper Canada are concerned, the inauguration of the new constitution may well be heavily rejoiced over as the brightest day in their calendar. The Constitution of 1867 will be famous in the historical annals of Upper Canada, not only because it brought two flourishing Maritime states into alliance with the Canadas, and opened up new markets for our products, and a direct railway route to the Atlantic through British territory, but because it relieved the inhabitants of Western Canada from a system of injustice and demoralization under which they had suffered for a long series of years." Some didn't think so On Confederation Day the Halifax Chronicle carried the following announcement: "Died! Last night at 12 o'clock, the freed and enlightened province of Nova Scotia."
