  1. This is a problem that goes beyond political boundaries, scope and office term. The simple fact is this is a 20 year (at least) problem in the making and needs a 20 year (at least) solution and that is beyond what any political party can, or is willing, to do Much of the Canadian fishing tourism is made up of Americans. The American economy has been in a down turn and our dollar has been on par for 4-5 years. Those are two huge factors for some of our American friends. Couple that with what we have all read here, and elsewhere, some very negative reports form anglers that have had limited success on Nipissing the last number of years as well. That also has an effect on people spending hard earned dollars for a vacation. No doubt the reduced limit will have some looking elsewhere, but how often will people keep coming back to a place that doesn't produce the number of fish desired in the first place regardless of limits?
  2. It wasn't enough that my twitter feed was full of these photos, now I have to see them here as well? Nice fish. Winter lasts too long anyway, might as well fish when you can.
  3. Political Bull from another politician.
  4. The price tag might be a shot to the solar plexus though. I really wanted a diesel touareg but the price went quickly north of 60k and I couldn't justify that for a second vehicle.
  5. Buck 15.4 here in Barrie. I paid a dollar 10.4/litre with a 2 car wash purchase.
  6. Well, if I remember correctly excuse number 37 for price gouging from the oil companies is: Competition between stations causes the price to go up. Seriously.
  7. So almost none of yours… And about half of yours….
  8. I know what you were getting at but slower speed doesn't mean better fuel economy. For most vehicles the best use of fuel versus distance is usually 80-100 kph depending on gearing and vehicle size. Idling in the drive thru is always zero miles per gallon.
  9. They all lie, I just hope they all lie about the same amount when I'm comparing numbers.
  10. 2014 and it's not even 2013 yet. Forget Christmas, vehicle models are starting earlier and earlier.
  11. "Do I know what to do?" Sure, let the biggest guy go first. In all seriousness though we all have to much going for us to take unnecessary risks to get out on the ice for a few fish. Have fun.
  12. Yep. I think they said there was 41 dams/locks that they would have had to have passed to make into Simcoe.
  13. In a Blackhawk's jersey no less. I love the old goalie masks.
  14. Local tv news just had a bit on an American eel that has been netted in Simcoe. Rare but not unheard of and the numbers have been increasing. No catch or possession. MNR says that it is a good sign of improved water conditions and let the them know if you catch one.
  15. http://www.bergerbytes.ca/2012/12/my-original-hockey-photos/ Howard Berger is a sports reporter that some here might know already. In the 70's he was still a kid but his family had season tickets at Maple Leaf Gardens. This blog post of his has photos that he took.
  16. @Nipfisher I find that they tend to tangle more when aggressively jigging them.

  17. If swivel visibility is a concern I would just make my lead longer, although the saltwater corrosion is an aspect I don't have to worry about. There are a few brands of tieable wire line out there.
  18. But the corn was cheap before they started putting it in gasoline?
  19. Works down here too. It's just not every week that it's that cold.
  20. Looks great. If I come across a deal, I'll be sure to send it to you for a tuneup.
  21. Seems some people didn't get the message: CP24 reports at 7:45pm- TRAFFIC ALERT: Hwy. 400 southbound is being shut down at King Rd. because of numerous collisions caused by icy conditions, OPP say.
  22. The difference between winters and all seasons is huge. The costs are mitigated a bit by extending the life of tires by not having them on your vehicle for 3-4 months a year. In the end what is your and your families safety really worth? Eight hundred to twelve hundred over 4-5 winters is cheap peace of mind. I'll take a front wheel drive car with winter tires over an all wheel drive with all seasons.
  23. What do the owners want?
  24. It's hard to say if we are even discussing facts but agreeing to term does not mean agreeing to a deal. The term is only one small aspect of this negotiation. Remember the 43% and 24% rollback offered in the summer?
  25. The PA has 700 odd members. Of course they are not going to agree on every individual issue. A ten year role playing vet has a different agenda then a second year potential star etc.
