  1. Another way to get a bit more bang for your buck is to mark your braided line in 10 foot increments and any casting reel becomes a double threat as a trolling reel that allows you to repeat settings on your trolls.
  2. Thinking that the zeros matter anywhere outside of the valley.
  3. Well my most recent musky was on a 1000 Stratic but I would not recommend that as a first choice. I have calcuttas, TEs and Bull. I also have a curado 300 dsv. And a big old 700 Abu. I've long been a shimano guy but I have tried, and will try, others as well. After what shimano did to the TEs and the curados I'm just afraid that they'll also wreck the Bull and that will be just about the end on the line.
  4. We've both likely been fishin' that crick longer then the net has been around.
  5. Ya my walleye jogging rod is a 6'6 crucial/1000 stratic with 15lb nanofil. T'was fun while it lasted.
  6. This year with the "new" boat has been great, and my son has loved every minute of it but it was time for the Rice brothers to some fishing. We didn't have a particular species in mind as long as it wasn't panfish. Started of with bass on topwaters. And crankbaits Then had some pike follows, but no takers. Then some eyes trolling. We tried jigging a spot and caught a little bit of everything. Smallmouth, white bass, eyes. At one point I set the hook on a fish that didn't appear to be very big but after taking a second run I thought that is was a nice fish after all. The next run had me completely baffled. There was a strong current in the area so I was wondering if I had hooked into some debris. Another run and I knew there was still a fish on and that it had some weight behind it. Drum? Catfish? A really big eye? Maybe a pike? Finally a glimpse of the tail as it turned for another run told me it was a nice musky. Now as I'm trying to work the fish in I'm replaying the hook set and first few seconds of the fight. Was the fish running towards me? Maybe it didn't know I had hooked it? The musky is now near the boat and the final piece of the puzzle falls into place. Sticking out of the side of the musky's jaws is the tail of whatever fish originally hit my jig. Now the musky's teeth are racking the scales off of this fish and they look like snow on Christmas. The only photographic evidence that any of this was true. When the musky was done with me and my fish, he opened his jaws and swam away. I reeled in what was left of my original fish. This was not the best day of this smallmouth's life. Smallmouth trolling home My brother picked up a pike on a zara spook and it was time to get back home for dinner.
  7. It's all about the wiggle.
  8. I guess some people don't like behind the play cheap shots (page #2 of dead things play book) from plugs in preseason.
  9. And that ^ is coming from a dead things fan. Page #1 of their play book.
  10. You think that is tippy, try an olympic type racing canoe. I didn't unclench my cheeks the entire time.
  11. Trout season ends soon and today was a great day….. to get the kids off for school/daycare and then go…... to work. I did have a little bit of time before I picked up the kids, so I hit the stream just down from our house. No monsters. No interesting tales, or tails for that matter, but a nice couple of hours splashing in some riffles. May get out for some grouse and trout this Friday. Looks fishy Caught another brownie same size as the photo and maybe 4 chub all on flatfishes.
  12. I put it on my andriod phone 2 years ago and I can't say one bad thing about it. I don't use it on the water too much because I do have the chip in my finders, but I do use it to pre-scout and those "I wonder" times.
  13. Free lure that catches fish and 80 feet of line out of the lake is a good day.
  14. Very nice. And nice redneck smores makers.
  15. Well when I was there 20 years ago I was able to catch them right from the start of school until after the Jays won the world series. So early November at least.
  16. Hodgson signs for 6 years at 4.5 per. More risk than Kadri's but in the long run might save Sabres some cash.
  17. Ultimately we set the market, along with the owners, their cap and complete control of RFA's. Some of us might not like it the amount of money, but this was a player with zero leverage so without question he would have got more per year and term on the open market.
  18. Net talk is Kadri is going to sign for 2 years for aprox 6 million total.
  19. Here is the link to the original post from just over 5 years ago. The Anthem: http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20250&hl=song&do=findComment&comment=210676
  20. ccmt put this together several years ago:
  21. Looks more mammal then fish but i don't know.
  22. I like the nanofil and firelines for thin walleye lines on my spinning reels. I have some neon yellow fireline that is easy to line watch and with a mono or flouro lead of 2 or so feet is my favourite. The white nanofill is fairly easy to watch as well.
  23. Some of those same things were said of the new fangled mono when it first came out on the market.
  24. 7:30 am Sunday heavy north wind made for some uncomfortable fishing for my son. 8:45 am Monday and the lake is like glass as I drive to work and he is on his first ever school bus ride. First trip on the school bus, second day of jk.
