  1. Everyone with a fishing rod must have a licence to use it. (There may be age exemptions I am un sure of) Non residents can buy a non resident licence.
  2. Damn, I only have 5 1/2 years left to catch that 15+ lb walleye. I wouldn't mind breaking that new Rainbow trout record too. That looks like fun. xrap. do us all a favour and tell your teacher he/she is a quack.
  3. Some real gems here Beans "You would be bad luck to a good hunting dog" That is an instant classic Largemouth "always marry a girl with small hands" That is seriously funny.
  4. I think the only reason their vehicle was not taken was because they were fishing in a creek. So the only thing they lost was rods, tackle, waders, glasses. The vehicle wasn't used to pull a watercraft of any kind. This is only what I think is the case. I don't know for sure. Zib, unfortunatly you are probably right. I have heard of a few repeat offenders. Second time they were hit hard. I believe boats and vehicles were taken the second time. A big court battle ensued, and they lost. This happens lost at the Border crossing as well. A friend wife is a customs agent. I call her up and put in my order and she 'takes' it..haha kidding She says there are numerious vehicle/boat seisures every summer. It is much more of a pain for the Americans because they have to catch the bus home and then find their way back to Canada to attend court in hopes of getting their stuff back. Some nice boats go up for auction every year.
  5. I forgot to mention they lost their fishing privilleges for 1 year. I agree, they got off easy. $3000 is not enough. Minimum $5000 and 10 years no fishing. Tarred and feathered, then paraded down the city street with a big sign reading. "I steal from everyone"
  6. A small blurb from yesturdays paper... Too many fish costly for Nipigon pair "Two Nipigon men were fined $3000 after pleading guilty to possessing 12 rainbow trout more than the legal limit."... "Their fishing equipment and fish were forfeited to the crown."... I can't believe this is still going on. When are people going to learn? I guess it is better for them and myself that they were caught by the MNR and not me. Holy smokes this makes my blood boil. I just don't understand how some people can be so greedy. I am lucky when I keep more than 1 male steelhead in a season. (I am pretty picky when it come to taking steelhead for the table)
  7. It takes time to break in a new hat. You have to endure a few bad trips and put alittle 'stink' on it before it starts to work it's magic. Here is the proper breakin procedure for a new potential fishing hat. 1. Crumple it into a ball 2. Put it under you pillow the night before first fishing trip 3. remeber to grab it from under your pillow the next morning 4. Sacrifice 1 virgin [optional] and NEVER wash it. haha event if it crawls away. You stomp on it 2 or 3 times and slap it on your head.
  8. 4 and 5 are classics. So many more lines I could whip off from the movie. But I would probably need a censor. Here is one of my favs... "Icing appen when da puck come down, Bang!, before da odder guy you know. Nobody dere, My are go comes up, de play stop den start up" As far as contributing to this thread... "Failure is only an opportunity to a more intelligent beginning" I believe it was Henry Ford who said that. Always stuck with me. Applies to so much.
  9. I have a few weird superstitions... Never trash talk before a fishing trip. Especially if the other person is going fishing in the same area. Sure as heck, the other guy is going to catch more and bigger fish. If I keep quiet, then it is usually a different outcome. While driving to the lake, if I see a moose then I better hold onto my rod with both hands because fishing is going to be insane. This is no Bull. Last Saturday I saw a moose run down the road 20 feet in front of my truck, for about 500 metres. We caught 14 walleye in 2 hours. To prove the other theory my partner was trash talkin as well. I caught 11 he caught 3, plus he caught the only pike, which is a bad thing when you targeting walleye. Never wash your fishing hat. The only washing mine gets is when it blows off my head into the lake. going on 14 years, no soap. My wife cringes every time I put it on. When I think about it, it is kinda disgusting. Who am I to mess with the rules?
  10. Stanley Cup = Carolina Hurricanes Super Bowl = Who friggen cares World Series = Baseball is for girls NBA = Is basketball still on TV?
  11. I think it is the same thing that is going on in Alberta. You like one team and hate the other. Here in Ontario, I believe there is more of a Leaf following than the sens. Here in TBay is the same story. Lots of people rooting for the Ducks. Same response everytime...More Canadaian content on the ducks as well as no Alferdson. I was stuck on who to root for this year. As much as I want to see the cup on this side of the border, there is more Canadian content on the ducks. I have made up my mind and I am rooting for the team that looks like they are going to lose. Sens. You can't win hockey games when you only show up for 1 period. And what the hell was Alfy thinkin when he shot the puck at Niedermyer. He pretty much guaranteed the Ducks would come out for the third, guns blazing and cylnders firing. I digress...
  12. My former boss gave me his boat a number of years ago. He owned the boat for about 20 years. He never bothered to register it in his name. So I figured it would be a real pain in the bass to register. I brought in a reciept. the boat HIN and the reg numbers that were on the boat. There was no problem. I still don't understand how it was so easy. Customs just issued me the registration.
  13. It is much easier to beg for forgivness then it is to beg for permission..haha Buy it all now. I was just married last Aug. so I haven't really have much experience but I haven't noticed my fishing days reduce. Actually, this spring I fished steelhead more then in any previous year. Been out walleye and lake trout fishing 4 or 5 times since the seasons open up here in NWO. I guess it is all a matter of priorities I guess. I make sure I do all my home renovations during the week, after work.
  14. Imagine catching that in the face flying down the 401 on a motor bike. OUCH!
  15. I am stuck, I am a fan of most Canadian teams. Flames and Habs are not on that list. I would like to see the cup go to a team North of the border. You know, Canadian pride thing. BUT that would mean Alfredson gets to hoist that cup. After last nights performance, it appears he and the rest of the foriegners are back to their old ways of playing for a pay cheque and not for the love of the game. Funny thing is, they don't get a pay cheque in the playoffs, or am I wrong? So now I think I would rather root for the ducks. 'Salami' put in his time in the league playing a good stand up game. I think I would feel better about seeing him hoist lord Stanleys Holy Grail. + as mentioned before, more canadian content on the ducks. I just may say screw it and just watch the game and root for no one. I can only hope that 2 teams show up to play hockey for the remainder of this series. Last night was a totally one sided affair.
  16. hmmmm a though just came to mind. This is how I can protect my secret spots without being labled a basshole for not giving up information. Just tell 2 people a different spot and let the internet do the rest.. hahaha The people who caught those monsters are fricken genious.
  17. Both, the pike and the sturgeon were caught in Rainy Lake. But judgeing on how many different place this fish has been claimed to have been caught, I may also be wrong. I recieve both of those photos in email. the pike about 2 years ago. I think it was a friends, cousin who caught it. Or a cousins friend, who really knows. And the sturgeon I recieved last year. Same story. So now the question is... WHERE? hmmm
  18. If it were my boat and fish and I was the one to catch the guy, he would have a size 12 poop chute! Not too mention he would be swimming after my fish to get them back..haha If I were illegle then call the MNR, stay off my boat or there is trouble. Let the real cops do their job. Up here, they are quit good at it.
  19. Apperently I need 1 of 2 things, a new monitor or another eye exam. Sorry man. I had that pdf zoomed to 140% and it still looked like a 21 not 20. But alas, after zooming in more it does in fact say Div 20. Hope your weekend was productful. Mine was flippin cold. snow accumulation on Sat. Cold front put the walleye off so fishing was slow. Still boated 30 but normally we should have boated 100.
  20. I don't have a hard copy of the regs with me at the moment but the pdf link I posted says 22/22A is the same as 21 which is not open until 4th saturday in May. If the hard copy is different, then the hard copy is the law in the eyes of the CO. However it works out. Good luck, be safe, and have fun.
  21. No float, I was fly fishing. My tippet was long enough so the trout most likly did not see my shooting line. But it is likly that it did see my shot, what little shot I was using. Like I mentioned, could have been other factors not just the line. All I know is I won't use it again. Redline seem to do the trick for me.
  22. I am heading out today. Hopfully I can find some big pike to play with tonight and tomorrow. BTW, Rickster I am not sure if you have dates confused or just planning on C&R with the lake trout but it is not open until 26th up here in Div 22/21. Hate to see you make a potentially very costly mistake. Div 32 however is open so if thats where you'll be, then I am slightly jellious. Hey, at least the snow forecast for Atikokan area is down graded to only rain now. Things are looking up. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/fishing/...ap_E_fr2005.pdf
  23. This spring I bought a spool of Seagar florocarbon and a spool of Cajun Red Line to use as leaders for steelhead fishing. I can say with confidence that the Cajun Redline fooled the steelhead and the florocarbon did not. I literally watch the steelhead move out of the way of my in coming drift when using the florocarbon but they smacked it when I was using the the Red Line. I admit there may be other factors at play there but I had it happen numerous times on different days. I have never had a real full of either until now. All my walleye rigs are spooled with the 8lb RedLine. We'll see how it performs this weekend. I am heading out at noon today. Have to get there either to get the good camp spot. Everything is on fire up here so there are very few lakes to go to, that are not under Area Order by the MNR. It is going to be a busy weekend. Crap! If I have any bad news about the red line as a full spool line then I will make another post after this weekend. Up to now I have only used either as leader material. I also tried the Vanish a few years back. I didn't like it and promptly switch back to mono.
  24. Since man made structures count as a wonder then Canada's longest foot suspension bridge at Eagle Canyon should have made the list. Nanabijou received my vote.
  25. I tie my own worm harness with #6 steelhead hook with a trailer of the same size. I can't remember the brand. Dia???? I use a dark green berkley power bait worm with a dribble of Dr. juice scent and I killem every time. Of coarse the colour of the spinner blade will remain a secret..hahaha But as you know colour changes from day to day anyway. This again is in the rusty coloured water fo the Thunder Bay region. This is what works for me. I also use these same harnesses with large sucker minnows. In case they take it ass first I can still get a hook into them without waiting for them to take it deep and run the risk of injuring a larger fish.
