  1. You guys can keep your snow & ice, but I've got a brand new boat & motor sitting on a trailer that needs SOFT water to work properly
  2. Something else to think of too Roy, is the powder in the extinguisher can become packed down after time and may not expel properly when needed, so every once in awhile give the extinguisher a couple knocks against the floor and shake it a few times just to keep the powder loose. I wonder how many folks have an extinguisher in the car, home or boat and have absolutely no idea how to operate it when the time actually comes. Just take a few seconds folks and read the label and understand how to operate it, cause when you've got flames licking up your leg, it's too late to try and figure it out.
  3. 1st thing my wife said when she saw what I was doing was that we'll probably get hit with a blizzard next week, but I figure we hafta think positive Those little yellow buds are forming on the trees as we speak Glen
  4. This has to be the best day we've had so far with sunny skies & warms temps Been cleaning up out side in shorts & T-shirt, did some work on my truck, then figured it was sooooooo nice, I put the snow shovels in the shed along with a bag of salt I had left over and even put the snowbrush in the basement. Gonna take the winter tires off this week and put on the summer rubber & chrome wheels. Even heard some robins in the woods this morning. Gotta love the 1st signs of spring !!!!
  5. John, my brother was also a volunteer fireman for many years and they were called out one night about midnight when someone reported hearing cries for help far out on the ice. My brother and 3 other firemen put on PFD's & took a ladder and some ropes & made there way out to the 2 men but the ice was so thin they were cracking it as they went. They eventually got to them where they broke thru the ice, but one man was already dead and the other was in critical condition. They were able to get them out and back to shore where the 2nd man eventually recovered. Some folks never seem to learn to stay away from dangerous ice, but it would be good if they'd give some thought to those that have to put their own lives in jeopardy when they need to be rescued. Far too many good people have died trying to help those that don't put enough thought into what their doing themselves. After that rescue/body recovery they petitioned the township to provide them with an inflatable boat to drag with them when they needed to ever go on dangerous ice again.
  6. Heard on the radio just now about a mother and son who were riding an ATV on the ice in Muskoka yesterday and went through the ice and apparently both died. Said the father was on another machine and saw them go through but couldnt do anything to help. Lotsa sad things happening on the ice this year.
  7. If your involved in it Ron, it must be something worthwhile. Thanks for taking the time.
  8. I've sold my Crestliner but need to change an OEM item before it goes to the new owner, so I went on Google and came up with Proctor Marine in Simcoe. I called him at 3:00 yesterday and luckily he had the exact item in stock and said he'd get it on the courier truck ASAP and sure enough, it arrived at my door in Toronto at 1:00 today. Pretty good service I'd say with only 22 hours from the time I called him till I had it in my hand. I'm heading north on Saturday to do the work and he even told me to call him if I have any problems and he'd walk me thru the installation. Not too many box stores offer that kinda customer service. Anyways, he's a nice guy and I just thought I'd give him a bit of free SPAM and let everyone know that if your lookin for anything for your boat, maybe give him a try and you may be as happy with the service as I am. It's nice to deal with nice people http://www.proctormarine.com/index.asp
  9. Absolutey wonderful news Limey & congratulations to the entire family. It's been 42 years since my 1st child was born but it's a feeling you'll never forget. Take LOTS of pictures !!
  10. TJ, is it possible to put the Christmas skin back up ??
  11. I've always found the Club & Christmas skins were easiest on my old eyes and with the Christmas skin I only had to click the back button once. The other ones are just too hard to see. Now that the Christmas skin has been removed for whatever reason, I'm back to the Club skin but have to double click every time. The Christmas skin was easy to read, only required one click, and kept me in the holiday spirit all year long without having to buy anybody a present
  12. I agree with lookinforwalleye and for only an $800 trailer I don't think the dealer can afford to throw in too much more without cutting too far into his own profit . Just my 5¢
  13. They had alot of problems with circuit boards in the foot pedal of the older model PD units. I bought a new one in '99 and it burned out after the 1st season. Aikmens fixed it for me under warranty but said I could expect to have it go again before too long. I dumped it and bought a cable steer.
  14. Don't forget the insane prices for warm pop and cold hotdogs when the kids get hungry either. And they wonder why attendance is down at the Sportsman Show.......
  15. Larry, thanks for that link, it made for some interesting reading. I spose with any new model of any product there's gonna be a few problems but if it's consistant I'm sure they'll do something about it. MinnKota has an excellent reputation and I'm confident this motor will be as good as everything else they produce........hopefully. And Blake, thanks for your reply too and it seems the majority of folks are more than happy with it.
  16. Ron, that trip to LOTW sounds great and hopefully you'll tie into a couple monsters up there. I was talkin to Angelo at the Fishing Show and he was telling me how your gonna have a couple meetings on the water and that sounds like an excellent idea. I won't have puter access at the lake all summer but I talk with Mike all the time and I'll get the info I need from him.
  17. I'm lookin forward to it Tom and it'll be good to see you & your brother again, and maybe we'll finally be able to hook up and do a bit of fishing together. I used to be a member of MCI but things just didn't work out, but this new chapter looks excellent and I think I already know most of the members
  18. For anyone with an interest in musky fishing, this is an excellent show and a great way to spend a day. Alot of tackle and fishin gear from around Ontario is available and there's always some excellent speakers putting on seminars every year. Myself, I'm looking forward to hearing Bob Mehsikomer, he's got an excellent TV show and his seminar should be good too. A bunch of us usually meet up for breakfast at 7:00 just down the road from the hotel then head over and spend the entire day. Always guaranteed to be a great show !!
  19. Pete (squid) and I will be spending a couple days on the Ottawa sometime this coming season and I'll let you guys know when and maybe we can set something up We'll probably be staying in the usual place, Motel Du Champlain in Plantagenet, and will be fishing the area between Wendover & Hawksbury
  20. Thanks for that link ADB, it looks like LeB's has the best price around for the on-board charger I'm getting, infact your price is at least $50 cheaper than anywhere else I've seen.
  21. Thanks Dax, that's appreciated .
  22. Pretty sure LeBarons has a mail order too.
  23. Great to hear things are working out well for the new chapter Ron. I'll be staying at the trailer the entire summer, from the beginning of May until Thanksgiving, so I'll definetely be signing up.
  24. I'll agree with the others John, the Compre is an excellent rod and it won't come close to breaking the bank either. When your fishing for big pike or muskies you don't need the sensitivity of the higher end rods.
  25. I've been reading some reviews on this motor today and so far everone seems more than happy with it and it looks like MinnKota has come up with another winner. Tony, thanks for your opinion on it too and your's seems to be the same as everyone else.
