  1. My other responce is in the expanded above. Technical issue called my brain. I have a guy that makes and sells his stuff at the club. Many rave about it but I have been spoiled by Dad's and my compare and his just don't compare. My brother makes great sausages and he dries them and they are great, just try and get him to make them for any price. There's just so many things I can trade, actually nothing more I can trade.
  2. Believe t or not I have one that I bought well over a month ago, Venitian Meats brand which I grew up on. We both must be off the salumeti's, usually lasts no more than 2 weeks. I didn't eat the stuff from Venetian when I was a kid because where they made and cured all the salumeti was across the street from the steelmills. I mean 60 feet away. They still do. edit: It was only about 5 years ago I drove my father to Venitian Meats back door regularly. They knew him by name and Tony never paid full retail for anything. Years ago he would try and make a deal at Metro or Canadian Tire.
  3. Yea one could read this this a few different ways Brian.
  4. The border crossings are closed to individuals crossing by vehicle or foot. You can fly in, boat in and I'm not sure about crossing in a commercial bus carrying people. So to say it's "closed" is not accurate. Welcome to OFC hsfan50plus.
  5. A freind of ours owns a very small, (12 slips) marina here on the lake we live on. It is not open to the public, mostly used to get his residence boats in and out. He does not charge to use the ramp. The call is out to the Ministry of Who knows What, if his freinds can use the ramp? So far we have gotten a no from a OPP beat cop and a few maybe yes from our MPP's office. In the mean time I am going to use it when we decide it's time to fish. Having said that I hear complaints not just here but in the general public how tough it is not to be able to take the kids fishing. Please, what a sacrifice it is to follow what the scientists recommend to try and kill this thing we all face. Got my 1st shot of Astra Zenica yesterday. In and out thank you m,9e. For those that are qeuzzy about getting poked, I didn't feel a thing, nothing, not even a Bee sting. I had to get a blood thinner shot in the thigh everyday for a week not long ago, that my dear freinds hurt like an SOAB. It was an 8 out of 10, 8 being if it lasted any longer you would go into shock, it hurt real bad but not the C-19 vaccine. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worse enemy.
  6. I was admitted to the ICU/Critical Care unit at the Brantford hospital a few weeks ago. It was full to the nuts with individuals parked in the hallway being cared for. There may be a time they are not full but according to staff in the Critical Care unit where I was 2 weeks ago they are full, having an open bed does hapen but 99% of the time they are full and at times overflowing.
  7. Thanks Geoff, better than OK, my wife says my additude is more positive than before. I actually noticed I am laughing more and taking my health and what I put in my body like I did before I was 40. . I am asking her if we can go for a walk, all year I made excuses not to go. I am up to 30 minutes walking every other day. Last week it was 5 minutes and I was gassed. Going to try 35 mins tonight. Spall chik no werk.
  8. Pretty well everyone I know is aware so I figured I might as well share my experience here with freinds that I haven't met, a few I have met, thankfully. A week ago Wednesday I almost died. I had some unknown infection that went septis and that's not a good thing. Apperently, as I have zero recollection, my wife came home from work around 6PM and found me on the kitchen floor and had a hard time to rouse me. Called 911 and they took me to the War Memorial Hospital in Hagersville On. I apparently was going on and on in some unknown language telling a freind to move his car so the ambulance can pull in, Joe was 60 miles away at the time. I remember nada. They transported me to the Brantford Hospital from there. The 1st thing I do remember is having CT scans then a woman talking to me. She was a surgeon that was called in to perform emerg. surgury as that thought I had obstructed or ruptured bowels. I remember clearly that she said " Sir you are a very ill man." I said I don't feel ill." she replyed "Your blood pressure is 80 over nothing, believe me if we can't get your BP up you are going to die on us." Not everyday someone tells you that. I had no reaction at all and she asked me if I understand what she said, I did but didn't freak like some might. OK Readers Digest version. They pumped me full of fluids and drugs and I am here to tell the story. 4 days in Intensive Care in the Brantford hospital, transfered back to a room in Hagersville for 4 more days. I am so impressed by the 4 Doc's that took care of me and especially the entire staff at both hospitals including the cleaning ladies, they work thier buns off, each and everyone. Not only do they have to do the work they are covered from head to toe in garb, masks, hats, face shields, yellow gowns from head to toe, the work they do is hard enough normally now they must be dressed like Aliens and Steelworkers to do it, a nurse told me that there are times they need to change thier scrubs twice in a 12 hr shift because they are soaked to the skin. It took me 3 days to have a normal bowl movement and get my legs and abdominal muscles strong enough to get in and out of bed. 99% of the pain was in my abbs and I looked 10 months pregnant with my gut so big and tight I thought I was going to explode. I did have to drink a gallon of what tastes like bay water from Hamilton next to Stelco, mmmm good. They actually weighed the result. It took up to just Sunday to be able to walk without a walker or cane. I hurt from head to toe. A small price to pay to stay alive. But I seriously thoght they were trying to kill me with what I was given to eat, what eat? I was on a liquid diet for 6 days., and I gained 5 pounds!!??? Everything tasted like hand sanitizer! A tricky part is to guess the time it takes to undo all 4 I.V. sites, remove blood pressure cuff, etc, etc. and get to the commode or toilet when the gut is rumbling as the enima is doing what it is meant to do and not make a mess for some poor soul to clean up. Oh my gosh. Many say I am full of it, in this case I agree. I used to call The Hagersville hospital a large Vet's clinic. I take it back,, I am truly sorry, together they helped save my life. I am penning a hand written thank you as soon as possible, I think they would appreciate that. Oh yea, I didn't see the white light but there were a few times in the past when we had Blast Furnace breakouts that I did see that light plus I saw an image of my Nani, (Grand Mother in Italian) standing in front of the light. Another story for another time. JD/out.
  9. Booked online for an apointment on April 5th through Hauwers Pharmacy in Dunnville where the pharmacy administers the shot. I got a call that week looking for me. I was in the ICU in Brantford, another story for another time. I checked emails today going back 2 plus weeks and saw a request from the pharmacy for me to book a appointment. I am schedued for a shot in the arm for this comng Monday at noon. I talked to my eldery aunt in Western NY today, she is in her early 80"s and has already recieved both shots required. She said many of my cousins have had both shots already. As young as early 50's.
  10. I can't even get an apointment out here, mass confusion. Haldimand On.
  11. I was having artistic license when I mentioned the Rockies. I only saw the Rockies when in BC once. I checked the weather for Red Deer and Edmonton and yep good chance there is ice in April. But there will be plenty of water to wet a line on the ride to Alberta, I hope. IThe last time I was in a shopping mall was in eastern England on another business trip 15 years ago, they said at the time it was bigger than the mall in Edmonton. The Bluewater Mall. It was big for sure, Not my cup of tea. Thanks for the reply nofish.
  12. I know. The harm this thing we are using to communicate with right now will do more damage to society than any weapon of mass distruction. The Internet is the weapon of mass distruction I strongly believe.
  13. It's not just his border to open. We have gotten off the ball here late, I agree, there are hundreds of countries across the world vying for the same vacines. We should have been setting up labs a year ago to produce vacines not beg for them.
  14. Twice, try uncounted times, they still replce it. Nice handle there 410001661. How'd ya come up with that one? Catchy.
  15. I will be in Alberta south of Edmonton mid mid April and asked here if anyone has fished there. It just hit me, there might not be any open water to fish mid April in Alberta. Duh.
  16. During normal years this would be considered advertising on the site and discouraged. With what our business people such as yourself are going through now, advertise away. Nice looking place you have there. I've never stayed at a lodge but if I ever was I picture a place like yours. Luxury for us was a picnic table and indoor plumbing. One cabin on the Ottawa we rented for years starting mid 80's for years and we actually eventually purchased on crown land for 5 grand was $100.00 a week including a 12' tinny, no motor though. Good luck.
  17. We have a Bell landline box 2 feet from the edge of the driveway for n26 years now. I have been asking them to move it for years, they won't. The killer is no one has a land line attached to that box. It just accidently gets run over and they continue to send 3 or more guys in 2 trucks to replace the box. Bell employees are the most miserable I have had the displeasure to meet. The last guy called out here for the Sat. dish was down right rude and the work was not critical so I told him to get off my property. That incident almost brought me out of retirement. The guy they sent next wasn't much better.
  18. It was on TV in case anyone wondered where I saw it. I hope it was CGI, I doubt it. Another thing that irks me in TV shows and movies, I'm not allowed to have a small fire on my 1 acre property because of air quality but they can blow anything up and film it.????? I know it's not all CGI because I have witnessed it being filmed out here.
  19. An easy conversion for meteric is 500 milograms is approximatley 1 pound. 1 kilogram a bit over 2 pounds, 2.2 lbs exactly. So 500 mg to a pound is close enough unless you are a drug dealer I guess. Her Brunswick stew looked like stew I'm sure it didn't have possum, raccon or squirel in it. Rabbit yes because I gave her one for it. I loved it. I do remember after it was served in a bowl a shot of Jack Daniels went on top of it, mmmmm. There was a golf hole tin Myrtle Beach where everyone recieved a small bowl of stew and if you parred it a shot of brandy went in it. You would never see anything so unique in Canada, ever.
  20. I just saw a newer Ferrari get smashed into the side of a parked car. Please tell me it's CGI. Oh my. There are children here and the USA, not just 3rd world countries where children are going to bed hungry. What a waste of money just to sell you stuff during the commercials. And we go out and buy the crap.
  21. Name me a good "corporation" Just 1. Corporations are the 6th Estate.
  22. Please do not mention the word Bell to me, (even though we kept Bell TV as there was no other choise for years, excuses). When we had dial up 20 years ago I got a Bell telephone long distance bill for $2500.00. It was due to something called a Demon Dialer scam. Our phone was high jacked to dial loing distance numbers to Sao Tome Africa. Try fighting a company like Bell, it aint easy folks, not easy at all. I got my 15 minutes of fame on local and later on national TV. Eventually there was a class action suit filed by many of us scammed and Bell setlled before going to court with each customer. They waived 80% of our bill. To continue with the lawyer was going to cost as much as the balance with no gaurentee we would have won in court. Plus Bell gave us free long distance anywhere in North America for 5 years, a big deal 20 years ago. Ooops I signed a non disclosure, go ahead sue me Ma. Make my day.
  23. It is encouraging to know that outfitters/lodge owners are getting bookings. Many have gone under in the last year. It was tough getting bookings and many never recovered from the last Super Recesion let alone losing an entire year of revenue due to Covid. The hydro, gas, telephone, property tax bill among others not mentioned doesn't care if you don't have business, "No money? Too bad pay me. You are sick and can't work a second or 3rd job, too bad, pay me. Wife lost her job? Too bad pay me. Kids moved back home, too bad pay me." To answer your 1st question, it may never be safe to travel by air in the future. We just do not know enough about covid-19 as well as the vacines for C-19 to answer that question for certain. What about novel virus covid-21. (The number behind the word covid is the year the virus is identified.) The second thing is that the borders are closed to non commercial vehicular traffic or persons walking across a border crossing for the purpose of vacationing i.e. snowbirds driving across the border to vacation south. It gets cloudy when someone outside the US owns property within the US rents it out and can prove that. Anyone can fly across the border, rent a car and be on their way for any reason including fishing in Saskatchewan. I have a close freind that has property in Florida and South Carolina he rents out. He made arrangements to ship his car to Florida, flew to Sarasota airport where his car was waiting for him and his wife and he will stay in the US for the next 6 months. Another couple had their car waiting for them on the NY side of the border, got in it and drove to a rental in Florida. Please do not take my word for it. The Canadian and US governments have a boat load of information stating what rules and regualtions are in place for crossing the US?Canada border. Regulations may vary for each country. DO NOT ASSUME anything, have paperwork, such as a tax roll for your US or Canadian property you may own in place and at your disposal to show US or Canada Customs. Not every Customs/Immigration official knows 100% of the regulations, it seems they change with regularity.
