  1. Very small if you must. If you want to eat big, you can find a few in dumpsters, ditches around the Hamilton and Toronto area because the big derby is on now. Let them big fish go, take picture, have fun. Release for someone else to have fun.
  2. I've had great luck with Chompers Garlic worms 4" Pumpkinseed, up north used on a single blade harness and split shot. Works great when small pan fish that rob you before Walleye get a chance. I'm a big fan of Live worms also, but sometime you have to brake down and use what works. But I tell you. they stink , some of my buds hate when I dig them out. I ordered mine from the states, Bass Pro carries them here.
  3. I just noticed, was that a charter you were on? Lots of times they want to get you a fish so you don't go back to shore empty. The bottom of Lake O is covered with them like Gobies in curtain spots. Draging a lure and ball on the bottom will produce big #'s. Still a nice fish to catch and have fun.
  4. If that L.Trout is from Lake O, I don't think the dump wants them because their contaminated waste. The only thing I'd eat from Lake O would be a "SMALL" Coho, Rainbow or Atlantic and then in moderation. A Lake Trout that big belongs back in the lake or if dead,Raccoon food. Fun to catch, nice fish. Keep the small ones, safer for you. Eat if you must, but I have a few friends that are Great Lakes Biologist's, and believe me, they wouldn't touch them.
  5. If their guns were registered, it's OK! Your right Cliff, give them all guns. Get it over quick. That's the only downside, innocent people get hurt.
  6. I talked to a few guys that cast at night around 1&2 am for Walleye. I went one night, but the waves were busting over the pier, so much for that. Take a lantern. My thought on that time, my head likes the pillow.
  7. Now that's a good one Fisherman. I wish I thought of that one.
  8. Bill, so does that mean you support my Hamilton Tiger Cats
  9. Man, that urks me also, They hope to embarrass you in-front of the line up of people. The other day at the LCBO they were asking if you care to donate to the united way, I had to control myself on that one I've got 8 grandkids, some are in hockey, dancing, swimming and I love donating to their legit fund raisers. I don't know how many times I came home from work with chocolat Almonds from guys kids fund raisers. But something shady I just walk by. It's a wonder the store didn't chase them away. You just gave me an idea to get my $35.00 Humminbird shipping back
  10. Dave, I think your right on. Maybe some models are made in a different country or quality control. I'm just hoping, like a few guys have said, their garbage. I hope mines not . To late now, keep my fingers crossed.
  11. That is why I call them Depth Finders, some may laugh, but thats basically what they are. What you see on the screen is what you want to think it is. What ever passes between your trans and bottom you may think it's a fish. Suspended leaves, weeds, stick, garbage bags, and you name it fish. Some even tell you what type of fish is on the screen, because that's what they hope they are. I'm guilty of doing the same, hoping all the marks I'm getting are the fish I'm targeting, when low and behold I've stayed on top of a school of Drum. . Just think of the species of fish on the lake your fishing, and tell yourself, I hope that's what I think it is. Because there is no rule to a fish that wants to eat, what Temp or fences under the water, meaning, fish will be were you least expect. I've caught fish Subzero,Hot days, Top or bottom or halfway. If I'm hungry, I'll eat any time. If I go to a Buffet and eat till I can't bend over, I don't want to see food for another week. Fish are the same. But I'd sooner eat my buffet indoors. I'm going Walleye fishing tomorrow on Erie, every mark on my screen is going to be a Walleye, I hope If you see me out there, don't follow me, because you may only catch Sheephead
  12. Switch to the advance setting, you can brighten the screen. I must have gotten one of the ones that they forgot to install the part. Service new about the problem. and fixed mine and others. I do like the machine, very user friendly. Plus I bought the FishNChip for it.
  13. Great report Mike thanks for sharing. The Little ones will never forget that trip. They'll be telling their kids one day about the trips that my dad took us on.
  14. Hoovers Marine Welcome to OFC August 6&7 is the Dofasco Bass Derby, Tickets are $10.00 this year. The weight scales are at Hoovers and Austin Park I have tickets
  15. Back then Roy, I carried lots of shear pins. If I ran out, a nail worked in a pinch. Can't remember how many times I filed and hammered the prop. The Skeg was another story But it was a 10HP, before they came out with the 9.9 rule registration.
  16. I forgot you were on here, smart Hope you got cold beer after the game. 4 of us going to the Cats game at 6:30 Watching the Cats beat Montreal makes men thirsty
  17. Fisherman, your tellin your age OH! The good old days. Funny though, we caught more fish when their was no such thing as a depth finder. First depth Finder I had was a anchor rope with knots at so many feet.
  18. I tried everything UB even a roll of tin-foil trick. My machines is 587ci combo. I even tried 2 different VHF radio's, one radio was a Humminbird. I guess some people would call us old Dave. Remember when the hotel had Ladies and escorts section. you had to stay on the mens side if you didn't have a lady with you. Thanks, I'm glad it's fixed, the noise was driving me and my buddy crazy. We had to turn the radio off. I've heard some of their units don't bother VHF radio's
  19. I forgot the price of the bottles, plus a couple bucks. Carling Light I was close fisherman, you know us fisherman (it was that big)
  20. That was easy to figure out. They wanted to make sure your boat can catch fish.
  21. I think the Bears are getting more nervy. My step-son has a cottage in Norland and he had a campfire for the grandkids to do the hot-dogs, marshmallow and pie-iron thing. That night the kids wanted to sleep-out in the pup tent. The next day the bears had tore up were the campfire was. That ended wanting to sleep out.
  22. You were right Lew, thay were fast. I couldn't belive it. But the Beer, Spiel and myself drink the cheap stuff 24 for 24, Spiegul taught me good. Your right Art, but I like US beer better than Ca. Now watch me get slammed
  23. OH, that's great, 2 years. Thanks for the heads-up fishnsled. Can you believe I like the unit, but now I wish I never read your reply I did notice their transducer cable goes in the other side, opposite from Lawrence Don't get me wrong, I do like the unit and 3 days I was impressed. But at least they should have reimbursed my $32.00 for my problem. (their problem) Hay, that's $32 bucks I could have spent on fishing Gas or. That will teach me Roy for jumping ship. I've had Lawrence for years. When I think about it, I bought the old Lawrence Green Box flasher back in the days. Plus that $32.00 would have been a good after noon for me and Spiel
  24. Just a little advise. If your buying a Humminbird Depth Finder GPS Combo and have a VHF Radio, the Humminbird will cause static on your VHF radio. Should have the warning on the box. I bought the unit thinking all was good but not so. After trying 100 different ways to stop the static with no results with some ideas from Humminbird and some electronics shops. 2 weeks later, pulling my hair out. Humminbird tells me to send it to their service depot in North Bay by Purolator because they know whats wrong. The service tech says he has the Part for unit, and when you get it back the static will be gone. So off to Purolator it goes, $32.00 it cost ME to ship. 3 days later I got my machine back. Great fast service, but why, in the first place. If they new what the problem was, why the run-around. Should be a call back on their machines. I called Humminbird to see if I get reimburse my shipping cost and they said sorry, they can't. Seems like, we the consumer, are tackle testers for there products at our expense. Would I buy another Humminbird? OH, and yes, no more static.
  25. This is what I've been using for years. Allot of charter boats us them because there cheap if you can find them. Last ones I bought were $2.50 Each, They work great. Tackle shop in Grimsby and Hamilton had them by the pail full. Good luck finding them. If you see them buy a few hand fulls.
