Should have just left the Kawarthas for us fisherman. EVerything will spread through the system because of the boat traffic and canals. Just like Pike will be into everything in here soon enough - invasive foreign species will wreak havoc even faster. They can't even figure it out.

recommendation for good low-profile baitcaster reel?
hydro replied to setomonkey's topic in General Discussion
In this order: 1) Daiwa or 2) Quantum 3) Shimano Don't get the bps jm series. Hope this helps. -
The fish sure were lure spitters this weekend!
-
That bass is huge. Did you weight it? Looks like it might be aound 8 - where were you fishing?
-
Was out fishing kawarthas last year and my friend hooked, fought and landed a metal twin bed frame! I'll post the pics later.
-
Great fish! What do you figure on the weight of that one?
-
IF your not concerned about the difference in ratio than line ratio would be nothing in comparison. Just compare a 5.1 to 6.3. Theres no way the speed in difference in line could be more.
-
I think the question may boil down to resistance. With smaller diameter there would be less resistance and you could reel faster. There is also the stretch factor with mono that may mean you'd have to reel in a little more if the line was stretched on that cast because of a hook set or snag or whatever. The reel has a ratio that will retrieve the same amount of line per full rotation. Because the braids don't stretch as much it should be more consistent. I'm not sure why any of this matters. The differences I would think would be minute. Where are the scientists?

I'm from newmarket! You'd be fine going to newmarket coming from the north or the south. Only the south bound lanes are closed. Just cut across at bradford.

Hey man thats a great first ski! Gotta love the colors. Youre hooked now - man that green is beaut!
-
Looks like lots of 3's, 4's and 5's. That last one might go a bit bigger. Nice job. What body of water?

Floro always has castability problems. Sounds like some of you have had lots of experience with differents floros and I use the vanish. I only use it as a leader and really this is all you need it for. For a main line its almost always best to go with a braid. They last long and have way more advantages. You'll never have issues with floro as a leader in terms of castability. The short falls in the castability of floro is well documented. Hyd

I dont know about ever but pretty neat. The only thing is I wish they followed that calf around after to see how long it lived. =) I betcha it got picked off within a few days. -
Those are nice! Good job I have to get into some bigger pike waters this year. Wasting my time right now. =P

That pike is not over 10 lbs. Here is one we got but I think she's around 8-9. Asides from her like I said their mostly 2-3 with occasional 4's and 5's.

Bay of Quinte Report(MTP and GlennK)9more pics in add reply

Hey those are some nice 'eyes! Great job....that is a Northern not a hybrid. I agree its a white perch - there are no lines running the lentgh of the body. Nice fish! -
There are some in Canal mostly around 2-3 lbs but up to 8lb er's are possible. More likely you will catch the 2-3 lb'ers. Simcoe has better populations with Couch. Anything north of there would be Muskoka. Mitchell and Balsam would have some Pike as well.

Building casting deck for 16' Tracker utility boat
hydro replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
Is that a 14' or a 16'? Maybe your motor isn't rated for the boat? A 30 4 stroke would be too big for a 14 wouldn't it? -
I think the actual key here is that the RRSP is held within a Life Insurance policy. I'm not %100 sure either that they could survive the bankruptcy. In bankruptcies cash value of policies are taken into considerations as assets - I just can't remember if they can be touched as RSPs. And your right RSP's arent for everyone. If you have not earned income in years or carry forward, or am comfortable living on just cpp, oas/gis and gains-a (in Ontario) or some combo then thats your life style and thats ok. Everyone should have some insurance though. Why leave it to the municipality to bury you or family.
