  1. Got me "Hook line and sinker" if you'll excuse the pun
  2. So thats where I left my chair! Sounds like a fun, if cold, way to go into the break. April is going to be very long I think. I gotta figure out what to fish for this month
  3. Great pics of some beauty fish. Looks like a great day, congrats
  4. Nice fish there Cliff. You just know the 'weirdo' nickname is gonna stick now
  5. Actually spear fishing in the st. lawrence is legal. There's some restrictions (salmon, muskie, trout sturgeon) but none pertaining to walleye so I don't see how this is any more wrong than hunting (ie fish can't be released as oppose to regular fishing). http://www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/english/publica...ing-methods.asp
  6. Yeah that certainly looks like a better way to spend the winter than my choice of holing up in the basement and praying for the snow to stop. Hopefully the skeeter survives the trip back up with less excitement then the way down.
  7. Outstanding fish, amazing pictures and even better writing to go with it. Your reports never fail to impress!
  8. Great story Anton. Well except for the rod tip bit but glad to see you kept your sense of humour about that too- the poodle remark is priceless . I'll second Capt. Bruce's about the follow comment - certainly worth going back there and try mixing it up both in lure and presentation (leaving a jerk bait like an x-rap just hanging there without moving so long you go nuts then give it a few pulls worked a lot for me last spring).
  9. Another great mix. That carp with a with a lure in its mouth is pretty bizarre but they way your month has been going I'm not surprised.
  10. You mean She's your sister Snag? Sorry but I just had to! Thank god for this thread - making a lousy day much better.
  11. GTA Pike reports from Snag can only mean one thing - spring is here!!!!
  12. Hehe hoping to do more this year than run from the birds? <a href=" title="Run its a goose! by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/205/501450681_0bb5d215dc.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Run its a goose!" /></a> Good points about the tools as well - even though its a lure thread. Definitely bring some decent pliers and some clippers capable of cutting the trebles because it really ruins your day on the island when one of those snot rockets decides to freek out at the wrong time and you've end up with this <a href=" title="Lesson learned by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/203/485480676_f53bb04ba6.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Lesson learned" /></a>
  13. About time we started to see the harbour pike reports. This winter has been going on long enough. Nice fat girl you got there.
  14. I'll add my votes Perch pattern x-rap and johnson silver minnows. Perchie caught me most of my TO harbour pike early last year (around this time) then the spoons when the weeds got a bit much for the jerk baits later on.
  15. Wonderful report. At least you got a good 'one that got away' story of the Cuda and still have a goal for the next trip. Thanks for the great write up and photos.
  16. Very easy to get lost on Lac (and yep its lake of one thousand lakes) if you're not there a lot (I never have a clue where I am). Wonderful lake though thats easy to access (can launch right off the highway up on the north east corner for example) yet like Tom said can take years to cover. <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=48.866522,-90.452499&spn=0.633259,1.2854&t=h&z=10&output=embed&s=AARTsJqzARj-Z8VnW5pkPMLMmZbqrJcYpw"></iframe><br /><small><a href="http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=48.866522,-90.452499&spn=0.633259,1.2854&t=h&z=10&source=embed" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small>
  17. Bluegills? What the h e double hockey sticks is that about? Sheesh - pretty soon we'll be be digging cat fish and those mutant 20lb largies out of all those logging road shield lakes.
  18. Sheesh first smallies now burbot, changing times I guess. Guess I should find some burbot recipes before we head up for this years trip.
  19. That was great. Good dog video day I guess as I also saw this one for the lazier dog and owner today <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value=" name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
  20. Well Lac des Milles Lac is what about 20 mintues from the easter/central timezone line so that might account for them not knowing when to properly start the bite . Nice fish there TJ, I had no idea there were Burbot in Lac, go figure (I've fished there on and off since I was a kid but never more than a couple days a year).
  21. Beautiful fish, congrats.
  22. Nice stuff Eric. What a great mix of fish, those browns are beauties.
  23. Great tip Al, I printed mine online and even at 10:30 am the line up was huge. Saved me a load of time with that tip. I went back outside around noon to drop the first load in the car and the lineups at the parking lots and ticket booths were just plain stupid. Sooo glad I got there early - at 10:30 am the free lot was full but the other ontario place lot was nearly empty and at $5 was much better than the exibition place lots and just as close (plus easier to get out of judging by the honking and screaming I heard when I left at 2). I agree with Dan that there weren't necessarily GREAT deals but the no tax at most stuff easily added up. I have to give props to the St. Croix guy working the Grimsby booth - really spent a lot of time with everyone (including me) and yest wasn't pushing the high end stuff too much. Heck he spent a while talking gulp and erie smallies with another guy while I browsed the rods and then spent a long time with me discussing what I wanted vs what I needed. I ended up with a 6'8 avid medium extra fast spinning rod that I'm DYING to get out and use. Amazing how much difference a good sales guy can make though - I was at some other spots where all I got were glares or else totally ignored so I didn't even shop around for price - good service trumps price (within reason of course - I'm not made of money) Anyhow, also picked up a bunch of new muskie baits and assorted odds and ends - bring on the soft water!
  24. Nice fish Cliff, I think Bernie's right though
  25. Great stuff Bill. I saw all that open water when I left the short show and almost went back to buy a cheap rig just so I could toss something. Drove with the sunroof open the whole way, what a nice day.
