  2. you know what ...I haven't been around as much lately but I really miss (Brian ) the Friday night tunes... Here's a recent find from a dude I met a while back... Check out the tune called 'Erie Paddle' This man can tell a tale! http://www.myspace.com/brockstonefish/music
  3. Firecat has the right idea... Unless I am wrong these folks are Blastrac Canada...they have what you want (but you have to buy it). I do this for living (Epoxy flooring/concrete refinishing specialist). You want to rent a diamond grinder from someone (possibly United??? Not sure if they have any)and a small vac. It can be ground out level in a very short time. It will create dust...a VERY small amount though for what you are accomplishing. Biggest thing is that you have to CONSTANTLY keep the grinder moving..you can dig holes quick! Use a small circular motion(twice the head of the shroud) and let the grinder do the work, do not push, and keep the grinder handle LEVEL. This will eradicate your bump quickly. 15 min work.
  4. well said Brian, but I couldn't...went there saying I would so i had to...the boys wanted to move so I did
  5. Anyone heading out this weekend that wants a tag along. Went with 2 buddies last weekend after perch but all I wanted to do was head to deeper water and sit STILL and jig!!!!!! Couldn't do it as the boys were after perch and I was the taxi....if anyone is going out this weekend I am coming up with the sled and am willing to go anywhere with fish that hang out deep....oh and I WILL be riding alone this weekend!!! Send a pm if not into full frontal postings. I will be there and would be great to meet up with someone with patience...even if no fish at least we will be fishing for the right ones! Cheers all...
  6. good call Rick...You work at a GREAT business out there...you saved them money (and possibly your integrity and a wee shame)...No doubt. I'm no business man but I smell somthin' fishy, pardon the pun. Once again good call.
  7. didn't read past the first page of posts... but... its illegal unless you got a bed and a crapper. Drink water or near beer.
  8. Plan is to clear the pack and get deep...and no doubt the perch grounds were packed...I am kind of dreading it on Friday but we can't spend a weekend without getting into a mess of eagle food (that one is for you Simon)... all I need is one trout to get my jig-on...so to speak!
  9. Well I guess I am just going to find out for myself...anyone have any ice reports north of Georgina? I hear huts are starting to gather but no actual ice conditions???? Plan is for a perch bonanza on Friday and then a Saturday of 50 holes, reluctant fish and possible sled problems!!!(Sound typical ) Anyways any recent deep water ice conditions would be appreciated. cheers all Dale
  10. Anyone been to this place to stay...buddy and myself are booking for the weekend...hopefully it works out..
  11. SIMON!!!!!! ...Come on man...show me the fishies!!!! By the way, it sucks here..only -2 and no chance of ice for quite a while...
  12. Excellent info Fisherman...thats what I needed..the side cutters plan is invaluable..I have allready sunk a boat /truck and it sucked. No need to do it again...goin out in the am. will let ya know what happens... Later Dale
  13. So as the subject says I have no clue about down-rigg'in. Gonna get into it as I have relocated to the great lakes (specifically Huron around Lions Head) and I need to fish. Got a rigger for the boat and gonna go hell or high water to get me some salmon. Anyone at all fish the bay or the east shore of the penninsula? I have tried the past 2 weeks driftin and jiggin while everyone around me is riggin. They must think I am crazy. I missed one, prob a laker as I was using a 2 oz. bucktail just off bottom. 40-200 ft of water in a matter of yards. So anywho, anyone got a few suggestions..was just checking out Tony-b's post about Lake O. and noticed the green fly/jig thing...what is that? I'm not that good at postin lately or pics but if it works I will show you's the proof. Thanks ladies and gents... Dale
  14. Ah Simon..you have not lost your touch...good on ya buddy. Wish I was still there to do the same...well I guess I can live vicariously through you... Keep it up cause I am fish deprived here!!!
  15. very nice...very very nice. Keep it up...lakes like that are hard as heck to find and even harder to keep secret, especially if they are naturals. Awesome read and pics, i'm envious.
  16. I have driven too and from Fort 5 times over the past 3 years to southern Ontario...I have never even thought of going through the states as it can be a hassel as far as I am concerned...taking the northern route through Longlac I found to be an easier drive though going through the Soo is a much more scenic drive as long as you travel that part in the daylight...straight through at approx 110 km/h takes about 21 hours, with typical food and gas stops. If you are driving a full size truck look at 300-350 for gas one way. An option this time of year to reduce miles on the vehicle (but not cost or time) is to take the ferry across at Tobermory to Manitoulin..and if you take this route it only makes sense to go through the Soo. Hope this helps.
  17. Everyone does my fellow Bruceian, everyone!!!!!! And yes i checked them out.
  18. I tell ya what Steve, when I see a report by ya I read it. Always a good quick read and your pics tell the tale. Keep up the good work.
  19. total of 14 or 15 hours (2 outings) and nothin but a pile of perch on one go....crappy for sure but better than time on the couch. Next year I guess.
  20. keep the opinions coming folks...as a side note anyone have a particular Yammy shop they deal with in southern Ontario??? Not in Toronto, prefer to deal with a little guy?????
  21. Yeah i got a buddy that has a 50 with the same system and I fished with him last fall and it rocked.... I loved the tiller control...trim/tilt and troll down at the flick of a hand...we could troll at .9 mph..it is a consideration for sure.
  22. G..you have a same class motor???? reason I ask is I hear a-lot about the higher hp motors but little about the lower hp Etec's. (mayhaps thats cause no one has any problems with them????)
  23. The reality of the situation is it is not that easy in todays society to introduce youth to the bounty of nature. It takes time and patience to enjoy and understand either fishing or hunting and the gratification it can provide...Unless you live or are raised in an area of the province that is still rooted by trees and rock. I really wish i could show my nephews what it means to 'get away' but unfortunaetly they just want instant action and results.....both of which are easily attained via a game console. 2 days in a boat and tent would just be too trying. It is sad and painfull but I beleive that is truely the case. As far as addiction is concerned I beleive we all know the answer to that.
  24. Ok I have searched, searched, talked and called enough. If you had to put a new tiller on your 17.5' Crestliner Fishhawk what would it be? I am really leaning towards a Suzuki or a Yammy 4...but the Etec is also calling to me (and the dealer is local). Do I flip a coin or what? Not really a Merc guy but have never owned one either. And I am talking 75-90 hp, preferably on the high end. Any help folks? Dale
  25. Just a quick note to all that I made it out today to my favorite trout spot with a perfect morning, water, and wind conditions. Notta a'gosh darn thing Oh well seeing as how I have not thrown a line for a bow in 5 years it was just nice to get out. I did however see a nice hen plucked out so they are comin!!! By next weekend things are gonna heat up and I will have pics !!!! Oh god I am addicted again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
