  1. Fishgreg.. I am sure these are the same maps I am talking about (just LOTW)... scale wise they must be approx 1:5000??? Thats just a guess but I they are accurate and detailed. As a side note you said you wanted them in a binder...I bought mine as a set (laminated) with 3 clip rings holding the series tougether. It was basically a binder. If 'bdox' can get you a set go that route. Like I said before you will not be dissapointed.
  2. Fishgreg, Not entirely sure if one exists but I can tell you when I lived out in Fort Frances there was an American outfit in International Falls that sold laminated maps (in sections) of Rainy Lake. I am sure that there are similar maps for LOTW. They were absolutely critical in my adventures out there for navigation, structure, and isolating locations. These maps were down to foot increments and broke up the lake into sections. If someone out that way can remember the name of the outfitters shop they can probably point you in the right direction. You will not be dissapointed with these maps...I am a cartographic freak and I loved these maps!! If need be I can call my buddies and find out.
  3. Yeah I actually wish I would have brought mine...would have saved a LOT of walking...when I left the Bruce on Friday I was talking to my buddy in Dwight (where we stayed) and he was not sure of the amount of snow down Dorset way in the bush, so we opted against it. The trail we walked in on was not open yet but there was easily enough to make it in without damage.
  4. We were up that way last weekend around Dorset. Managed one about 2 lbs. Had one other hit that I lost cause I forgot I was fishing in 3.5 ft of water...when you run out in a blinding panic to set the hook its not that condusive to slam the fish off the bottom of the ice Oh well it was awesome weather and worth the bush wacking to get in. Though I honestly think the low pressure Saturday had us beat as our success is usually much better in that lake. All in all it still tasted like Brookie!!!!
  5. Any locals got a confirmation??? To early for my liking but maybe next weekend???
  6. talked to a buddy..ice is fine on small lakes..caution as always first of the year...fishing = awesome. EATING GOOD TOMMORROW!!!!!
  7. Thats excellent news. Heading up that way this weekend for a wee brookie bonanza!!!! Anyone been out in the Highlands? I got bets on limits if anyone is willing to take the wager????
  8. 4 working days and counting!!!!!!!!!!!! Simon, I may just go to the brookie lake if you are reading this!!! Let me know.
  9. Brain is goin' 100 miles a minute. Got my first bull tag in the 22 odd years of hunting the magical swamp donkey! Its been a long wait and even longer (well not really) since I got back to the Fort. Southern Ontario has its attributes but holds nothing on the magesty of NWO. 9 working days and counting!!!! SEE YA!!!
  10. Working on the spring Algonquin trip and thinking about staying in one of the interior cabins. I think we are just getting lazier and want a shelter when we get there!!! Anyways we have been researching Birchcliff Lake and was wondering if anyone has been. Saying that we are getting lazy is not quite accurate as we are going to try to make it to camp in a day and from all I've read thats going to be REAL tough...hence the shelter when we get there. Anyways going to stay a week and hit up any small lakes in the area and do a wee bushwacking. If anyone has any insight or other cabin options let me know. thanks Dale
  11. ok watch this one...loads much better http://dailypicksandflicks.com/2011/08/25/jeb-corliss-grinding-the-crack-video/
  12. Not a tune...well it has music. This is absolutely amazing. Unreal. Insane.
  13. Well fellas...interesting topic??? I can tell you from first hand experience that I have gone through 2 RIDE programs with a near beer in the console, blatently visible and indicated to the officer. No real booze in the system, I have a long drive every day and I like beer, and they did not have a problem. If they had asked for a roadside test I would have been more than happy to oblige as I am actually quite curious as to the results. As far as the boat is concerned I am sure that if you had no 'real' booze in the boat there should be no problem. If there was a problem then don't worry about it cause I highly doubt a court of law would find you guilty of anything except wasting their time and our money. Just my 2 cents. Not a lawyer, doctor, scientist, or cop... but I think I am on the right track. Just don't drink 50 or your fishing partner is gonna be pissed, at your pissing. Have at' ER!!! She's all good.
  14. I'll try Solo, I'll try... Me the dog and the boat makes for poor philamatography...I know thats not phonetically correct...but BOO Ya, I'm into the bush!!!!! Wish me luck!!!!
  15. To all that are local and fellow OFC'ers.. If things work out heading up the GRR this weekend.. are they logging up there yet?? It's been 3 years since I was there and they were widening the road to make it a highway. Just need to know if I need a radio???... it'll be dawn when I am goin' in and I'm not much for loaded pulp trucks without warning. Any heads up would be appreciated. p.s. If anyone is gonna be up let me know, the bugs are gonna be bad, the heat and no wind is gonna suck, but I'm gonna be camped and fishin'!!!!!! Walter you don't stand a chance!!! Dale
  16. Was just doing a search on these motors and found this thread....most of whats talked about are the smaller horsepower motors. Can anyone add any input about the 60+ hp motors??? I have been looking now for over a year (all companies) and found a some pretty good deals on these motors. This makes me a little wary though? Any thoughts? Dale
  17. Heading in on Thurs...should be interesting to say the least. Will report when I get back...
  18. I did...actually a buddy did...not a Saurer to be found!
  19. I do not yet..that may be available tommorrow
  20. Yeah Dave I saw that as well...definaetly no ingraving on the one I am looking at... after 2 days of searching I could find very limited sites with any info. I realize this is a rare firearm and even rarer in North America but I have come to learn that there is great knowledge base on this forum so hopefully someone can provide some info. Yes I intend too, the seller has stated that the bore is 'clean and shiny'.
  21. Hello to all other fellow shooting sport enthusists!!! I came across a rifle that I may purchase but am finding limited accurate info on the net. The rifle is a German made ..Sauer and Sohn 'Model 80' bolt, chambered 30'06. Optics are 'Zeiss Diavari-Z 2.5x10x52. From what I have seen this rifle is in 'immaculate' condition. Bear in mind I have only seen pics and have yet to handle and inspect it (this will be happening shortly). Now here is the kicker... this is a used gun from the early 70's imported direct from Germany while coming across the pond. I can find info on current model (by the way model # has changed since then the 80' is no longer made) price but limited info on what this gun is actually worth????? Anyone out there have any insight?? Or any good sites for info?? It would be appreciated. Thanks: Brkygetr
  22. gonna put the 12 ft in tommorrow and jig me some fishies. Anyone else had a float yet this year???? I will try real hard to take pics and post!!!!
  23. Just got back from the river...it sucked...rain, snow, wind garbage!!! But I went, as my grandfather once told me 'you ain't gonna catch fish thinkin' about it' Now it's snowing and nasty out so all I can see to do is sit with my buddy's Carling L. and Napoleon and watch the day go by.. Cheers to all on a nasty March day!!!!
