  1. Bad Luck to change the name of a boat..
  2. Yes Roy in spots you can't even get through with the auger ..we take a paddle with us just to push some of the shove ice outa the way so we can get the lines down the hole ..
  3. Never measured any fish but a few were into the 13 to 15 "range..and just got finished eating them YUMMY ...ice is 6 to 12" and 3 to 4 ft thick in 90% of the area we were in its all shove ice that washes to the East end of Lake Erie pretty much every year ..Me & Fishlips spend alote of time on the ice during the winter months and don't fear to much ..guess once you have went through the ice a few times the fear kinda leaves your soul ...
  4. Yesterday Lefty, Fishlips and I hit Lake Erie for a little perch fishing. The ride out was rough to say the least. Took 45 min to get to our first spot. We dropped our buckshots tipped with minnows we were onto fish. Deadsticking worked as well wit standout hooks . Spent the entire day out there. It was so beautiful we were sitting there in our sweat shirts. Came back with 60 perch all a good size. Fished 47 feet of water in the morning and the fishing was slow, we moved out to deeper water later in the day 54feet and we were marking non stop all day. It was hard to get the fish to bite. A few smelt around and the fish were hitting really light.

  6. Our Fifth Annual Walleye Ice Fishing Tournament was a great success. Thank You to all the companies below who sponsored our event with prizes. Candian Tire Dunnville, Dunnville Post Office Depot/Sears, Fishergirl, Standout Hooks, Koppers Baits, Fishing World, Okuma, Hamilton Art Gallery, Lloyds Value Tire, Turkstra Lumber, McGill Motors, Fishmasters Bait and Tackle, Scotty Downriggers, Coldwell Banker Amalfi Realty, Fish TV, RedWing Tackle, HT Enterprise, Big N Floats. The day began bright and early with a shotgun start at 7:00 am. Everyone left the mouth of the marina and headed to their spots. At 2:00pm we gathered on the ice to do our draw for prizes and award the following people for their catches. First Place of $735.00 dollars went to George Schmidt weighing 7.85 lbs Second Place of $550.00 dollars went to Nick Katalinich weighing 6.60 lbs Third Place of $185.00 dollars went to Court Rose weighing 4.11 lbs There was one catfish caught which weighed 2.87 lbs for $185.00 and was caught by Scott Smallwood There were no Crappie caught during this event so the Prize of $185.00 was awarded by raffle draw. In total 203 people attended. The weather was perfect, many eater size walleye were caught. Two lip tags were seen on fish released today and all fish appeared heathy. It was awesome to see how much fun was being had out on the ice, from so many prizes going out to watching the young man ice skating while his dad fished. With so many people out, the current, and number of lures down there the walleye were certainly co operative. Raffle Tickets were sold on two items, a Yukon Clam Ice Hut, won by Santo Amalfi and a Framed Print of the Dunnville Dam, won by Tim Battenberg. Again thank you to EVERYONE who attended… It is the people that show up to these events that make them a success.
  7. ( Clampet -12 right now with a wind chill of -22 It doesn't take much to make more ice with those temps ..) Rich there are a lot of fish being released that you do not see. The river has a good run of walleye this winter from all over, including Weatly and the the US side. We are only getting to fish a 1 mile stretch of river ...how many walleye are on the other 100red miles of RIVER.…The lower Grand is connected to Lake Erie and fish come and go as they like. Resident fish, non resident fish ..I work with the MNR and alllways do my best to help others do their part in C&R. However people have the right to keep whats is Legal in the Regs. You are seeing fish because it is ice fishing. When we fish on open water you don't see what people bring into their boats. I saw you out fishing once this winter on the ice, and really how many fish did you see coming off the ice? In the past I have watched many people catching dinks at the dam which is worse because when you bring a fish up from 22 to 30 fow they usally don't live to see another day... WE have a good fishery here, and there is nothing wrong with people keeping a couple of fish for the table. This is just my 2 cents
  8. Just think Gerrit the cow you eat and the chickens and pigs you eat all drink the same water ..you drinking your city water is worse then eating any walleye ...if you listen to every thing your here you mise well give up liven and not eat or drink or fish for that matter ..seems all the post i do you get Cranky ..

  23. I do everything i can to try and tell people to C&R ..but its there right to keep fish if they want ...until there is a slot on lake erie there will never be one on the Lower Grand Rich ..and 90% of the time them 8 to 12 lb females are useless for spawning ..its your 3 to 7 lb fish that are good spawners ..ill be back on the hard water doing ice checks 1st light -18 outside right now ...
