I also have a sonora I think its a great reel as well. I have various sonora, stradic, symetre, sahara, curados, abu's etc... just looking for a new reel to match up with an all purpose rod, skipping docks, etc... So I thought I would try something else.

I got zapped for 4k a few years back. It got tracked down to a sunoco station in toronto. They made the withdrawls in montreal 6 hours after I went to the gas station. I got my money back but it took a week.

Funny thing is I remember going to a gas station to pump up my bicycle tire once and the gas attendant came out and told be to stop wasting his electricity its for paying customers.

Its funny how the whole thing works, a friend of mine just got his, RCMP called me and asked me if I knew him and thats was it. Another guy I know they never even called his wife. Some people get the 20 questions. There is no way to catch everyone. When I got mine about 6 or 7 years ago they never called a single reference of mine. Yep it is federal its across canada. Dito on getting the restricted if you can, you might as well. Its known as RPal to the gun enthusiasts.

Wow this topic sure got crazy fast. Back on topic though, a 22 250 is a great cartridge as well...and btw I love my 30-06, if it were legal I would use the AR15 for deer hunting though. I think this year I'll be bringing a mini into the bush. last year was some fun with the speed pump, but i think its back to the rifle for me this year.

If you aren't taking the hunting portion just go to the library, buy the book and challenge the exam. Its not that hard. The difficult part will be the hands on portion if you have never handled a gun before. However I think unless you have a farm you will need to get a small game sticker and hence you will need to take the hunting course. As for your choice of shells. I would take a look into the Varmint Grenade round from Barnes. It is by far the best ammo for varmints. If you are bored jut go onto you tube and do a search for varmint grenade. Its awesome. It will dispatch of varmints quickly and humainly. After seeing the video you will see why they call it varmint grenade. They come in 20 cal, 22 hornet, 22 cal, 223 and 6mm. I would opt for a .223 it will offer you the best range of the three and 6mm is a bit of an awkward round to find a cheap gun for. If you are lookingt for a place to buy a cheap decent used gun try ellwood epps, they always have a good selection of used guns. There are all kinds of good guns that shoot .223 ammo. A .223 is also known as 5.56 mm. Its a Nato round use by the Canadian forces as well. If you are looking for a fun gun to shoot go for a semi like a ruger mini 14. They are so cool and fun to shoot and non restricted. If you are looking for acuracy, a nice bolt action remington 700, sako or a savage with an accutrigger will serve you well for many years and you will be able to hit a garter snake at 200 yards. Stay away from the single shots as you will quickly get bored of it. Removable magazine is also a great feature to have. JMHO

Any rod builders? I am gonna try to replace the guides
jedimaster replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the info, I'll give her a whirl tonight, I'll try and remember to take a few picture along the way too. I was just going to use some 15 pound power pro for the thread wrapping will that do? or should I usesomething else? -
I have a rod that I like the action of and I am thinking about replacing the guides on it as they suck. I wanted to put on the micro guides as its a baitcaster and I wanted to try the micro guides out. How hard is it to remove the old guides and replace them? I have watched a few videos and it looks fairly straight forward. I don't mind so much if I screw up the rod as its useless to me with the crap guides that are on it now. If you have any tips on removing the guides and epoxy it would be appreciated.

I am looking to book a cottage and guide service on quinte this year for a weekend has anyone used one in the past? Or maybe we will just get a hotel and use a guide if we can't find a good cottage thing. I saw one that said 80 per day for Cottage, Heated hut and minnows, has anyone used Sunset Cabins? Normally i would just go myself and wander around and be happy with a skunker here and there, but since I will be taking the GF for her first quinte experience I want to try and make sure we get on some fish.

I'll put this on a good site to get the responses she needs. She will be number 1 by the end of the week.

Not looking to move to find a job, jobs find me then I move to them. I hate RIM and wouldn't want to work for them and once you oust RIM as an employer 90 percent of the IT jobs in KW are out the window. I woul dlike to try and stay close to some decent fishing so London is kind a out as well.

I had one of those homemade ones you posted and it was fine. but it was a carp you pull out through the snow. Honestly for the cost of the plywood and a sheet or tarp, your better off spending like 50 more bucks and getting a cube. I have one now and will never go back. I also had a Guide and I much prefer the cube. It sets up fast and is way lighter than anything home made.

alot of cameras won't take pictures of stuff thats running, you will barely get a hoof or a arse check in the picture. If you go cheap on a camera likely its gonna be cheap. The Wildlife extreme series have a good trigger speed and are among the cheapers ones, often had for around the 100 - 150 mark. The bushnell trophy ones are ok as well but they don't take pictures very far away.

Cleared with that particular CO. I would be very leary. but JMHO. I have often called many CO's and asked the same question and many gave very different answers. Remember the whole issue a few years back about putting a reg number on the portable ice huts? Some said yes some said no, some said they have no idea. The conservation laws are specifically vague to make most everything a judgement call for the CO, then it gets sorted out in court. Don't forget if you get a CO in a bad mood, he is gonna run you through every loop hole in the book, and check every little thing. Make sure you got your ducks in a row. It doesn't seem worth the hastle to me.

I am in IT, so if it doesn't work out there I'll just move back to gta. Seems like they are expanding and growing where as like you said many places are getting swallowed up. Yah, lots of really cheap houses in Windsor.
-
Anyone know anything about a company called Concours Mold, or Denkin Tooling?
-
Yah I was wodnering about the pollution. I'll have to see if i can find the episode. Do you recall what station it was on?

The law ays that your not allowed to hunt with or participate in the hunt. You need to get written clarification of when the hunt starts and when it ends. What if your just getting out of the truck walking into the bush with your buddy with all your hunting gear. Say you guys walk 15 minutes with eachother than seperate. for the 15 minutes your with eachother you could be construde as hunting with eachother. Sounds like a very dicey situation let alone tranporting it.

Thanks, whats it like living in windsor? I have only ever driven through a few times on my way to detroit. Housing sure seems cheap, but maybe that area spcific.

Thanks, how far north do you need to go before you get into decent ice fishing?
