September perch on lake erie

Hello everyone, have never fished perch on lake erie in the fall, any suggestions on depth and general areas where they would be.

I was out last Wednesday and only caught 3 in 55ft of water. Need more cool nights to bring in the bait (Lake Erie Emerald Shiners). Trying again tomorrow but my hopes are not high. However, I am bored catching walleyes on Erie. Depending on waves, tomorrow I would like to try 70 - 80 ft.

Are you not concerned with barotrauma fishing that deep, specially with smaller ones you would want to release?
