Looked out the back door this morning and saw a dead deer that was ripped apart right beside my garage last night.  I back onto woods and often hear the coyotes but last night never heard a sound. Couple years back they killed a fawn 100' from my back door.

I'll drag the carcass back into the woods later today.

I lost (thru my own stupidity) my beloved Persian Cat, Rafa to a 'Yote, while living in Guelph in 2020. Nice neighborhood, with lots of dogs being walked, mislead me into thinking the coyotes would be too afraid to be anywhere near.
Wrong.
Im positive he got ambushed and became an easy meal.  He had a beautiful back yard to enjoy, but unbeknownst to me, he was venturing off, following a neighbors' cat, where a nearby park bordering a river, must of enticed him to investigate.

My cat is only allowed outside in her big cat cage when I'm there. Even during the day, we have the odd coon wandering around and it would be more than a sad day if she became lunch to a damn trash panda.

I would think she could easily outrun and climb from a coon. No?

When I got her from the SPCA as an abandoned cat, 10 years old roughly, she was declawed in the front, so not quite ideal for climbing. She probably could out run a coon.

For anyone interested, I dragged the deer into the woods behind my property on Wednesday and checked on it today and it appears the coyotes are having a fest on it. About the only parts recognizable now are the head & legs.

Speaking of wildlife, noticed many flocks of geese and a few swans heading north,  a few turkey vultures circling around looking for dead stuff, cardinals, chickadee's and finally a group of robins showed up.

I was going to say earlier if you knew any hunters they would have been happy to sit over the carcass, hides are in prime shape.
