bassman Posted October 2, 2023 Report Posted October 2, 2023 Hey gang, I took a long break from the board but I see a lot of familiar names still here. I hope everyone has been well and catching lots of fishies. Does anyone have a line on any live leeches? I know it's late in the season but I'm hoping to get lucky. I've called dozens of bait shops with no luck. If you know of anyone in the Durham/York/GTA area, please let me know. Alternatively, if there's someone in the Peterborough area, I'll be fishing nearby in a couple of weeks. Thanks 1
CrowMan Posted October 2, 2023 Report Posted October 2, 2023 Difficult to find leeches after the end of September. Once the water temp is below 55f or so, they roll up into a little ball of snot and are not too active...not very enticing to fish. So not much demand for them, hence no one's selling them. 1
Rizzo Posted October 3, 2023 Report Posted October 3, 2023 this makes sense. Havent used leeches in years but we used to have a cottage near Parry Sound and leeches were amazing for smallmouth. Didn't even need to get in the boat. Part of our shoreline was deep water, just drop a leech straight down off the dock and you would have a 2 to 4 lb smallie almost instantly 1
