Dario Posted November 30, 2020 Report Posted November 30, 2020 Hello Members, I am looking for feedback to find if anyone of you guys used Thomas&Thomas or Winston blank spey / switch to build custom float road. I currently have two float roads Sage 7130 13 ft custom rod and G.Loomis IMX 13 ft and I'm looking to build my 3rd " high end" float road. Bit shorter then 13 ft and lighter for spring steelhead fishing on medium to small rivers and creeks in GTA area. Was considering to use Winston Air TH Blank 6wt 11,6 ft or 12,6ft blank or Thomas&Thomas Blank - DNA 1266-4 12 ft 6 wt. I'm not even sure if these blanks will work to build the custom float rod. Hopefully someone is able to provide some feedback.
DRIFTER_016 Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 I built a pair of Sage 1 spey blanks up for a buddy in Alaska for their river trout (they get over 10#'s). Used the 5 wt blanks and they were perfect. I have a 7 wt Sage 1 build for big Western water that's a powerhouse. Here's the 5 wt in action.
