Terry Posted April 19, 2018 Report Posted April 19, 2018 Most phones lock onto 3 satellites and use data or WiFi to beef up the location fix handhelds lock on up to 12 satellites so more accurate and have many more functions then an app on a phone. Batteries last days not hours so no need to bring a bunch of battery booster. A hand full of AA batteries and you are good for a couple of weeks in the bush From my experiences, hands down. GPS handhelds are what I use
BillM Posted April 19, 2018 Report Posted April 19, 2018 I would not trust a phone of any kind out in the bush. Get a GPS unit which was designed for that type of thing (I run a GPSMap 62s, works every time)
