Billy - Curtiss Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 A buddy of mine and I are planning on taking his boat to Lake Katchewanooka later this week. Last night I heard that the algae blooms are currently quite bad and that most weed growth is coated in it. Can anyone confirm this and if so, is it so bad as to be virtually unfishable? Is this permeating the entire Trent system?
FloatnFly Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 There are reports of Blue/Green Algae along the shores so just be cautious
jimmer Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 The lower end of Pigeon has quite the bloom of algae going on. It's the kind that grows in huge balls and sticks to the weeds. It was actually floating over a portion of the lake, which made it unfishable in that spot.
sofabed Posted July 16, 2015 Report Posted July 16, 2015 I was told Cameron Lake was closed for swimming on the weekend because of the blue/green algae.
