Can I convert old propane bbq to a smoker?

just curious have a old 4 burner sitting around wondering if i can use it as a smoker?

You could if you can figure out a way to seal most of it off. Most BBQ's are open at the rear and underneath for airflow for the propane burner, that's where your heat and smoke would escape.
