Ever seen a lift lock at work?

I was fishing Balsam Lake over the long weekend (report to follow w/a video) and on my way back a few buddies of mine told me to check out Kirkfiield lake, which was an accidental man-made lake with clean turquoise waters and monster bass.

 

On my way there I stumbled upon this impressive lift lock, and what's even more amazing is that it was built over a 100 years ago.
