How early is TOO early for ice out lakers?

Never tried ice out lakers in the Haliburton area but thinking of giving it a try this weekend.

 

Is it too early or doesn't matter since the lakers love really cold water?

I was casting to the edge of the ice sheet a couple weeks ago...no such thing as too early Good luck!!!!!

Im also going up this weekend to the bancroft area. As long as there's open water ur good.

Be sure to check your regulations book depending on the lake. The number of exception to the general rules in zone 15 is quite extensive.

they should be cruising the shorelines looking for easy meals like winterkilled baitfish etc...

First thing i did since i dont usually go up this early. But yea im good.

I was out Sunday in Bancroft and got one nice laker. The was fully off the the lake Sunday
