tambo Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 have had my boat for a week, and want to start putting it to use. gonna try balsam tomorrow, launch from the provincial park. never fished this lake before, is there any advice you guys can give? i guess i'm gonna fish the weed edges. anyone else going out, or want to join me? tambo
musky66 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Yep- weed edges are always good. What are you targeting? Just about everything in there can be found near the Park. Lots of good deep weeds as well.
Radnine Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Find structure and you will find fish (do you have a map? If no, get one) Jim
Skud Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I target 8-12 fow with weeds spread throughout and cast/retrieve 3-4 inch deep diving crankbaits and thread them through the gaps in the weeds. You will catch just about everything the lake has to offer.
tambo Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 thanks for the advice guys, i will put it to use tomorrow, and let you know how i do
ciceri Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 walleye grubs and jig heads worked good for us close to shore for small smallies. I pitched a spoon over a weedline for a while and got a 34" pike
tambo Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 well, my expectations were not high as i am very new to fishing in the summer out of a boat..............i got one perch lol marked a ton of fish, but that was it.....talked to another guy and he said the same thing oh well until next time tamo
