Radnine Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Guys, I have heard that the inner bay on Lake Erie has sand bars that can present a danger to the newbie. What is the best way to learn the bay without risking the boat? Thanks, Jim
Gerritt Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 GPS/Chartplotter with a hydrographic map would be a benefit...Erie is big water.. G
danbouck Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Get a chart! I've seen way too many people hit the sandbars and nearly get killed!
Sandbag Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Hi Radnine. That sandbar can be a real pain. Also, depending on water levels it can't always be visible. It you are launching from the old cut, stop in and see Ronnie at Rotten Ronnie's bait and tackle. He will be able to walk you around it. Cheers Craig
