  1. is that still inch park? I remember going when I was maybe 12..... 23 years later, and going strong I see. awesome stuff!
  2. i know i could get another 5 years out of my furnace...at least. but part of the sham/concern with HVAC is they will always try to convince you that you need a furnace at the same time as well.... after reading tons of info on the net, it truly does sound like sometimes you do, but other times you don't. that's one of my concerns relating to finding someone reliable and honest.
  3. C2F, I've read that story likely 10 times from different people. I don't trust the government to ever give me money..... I own the house. I will own the system. I don't need to government to give me money because I'm buying something for my house. I just don't want to get ripped off on my purchase....HVAC, Roofers, and Plumbers all need to be carefully reviewed.
  4. so then.........who can I call not to get ripped off? I'll get a quote from boonstra.
  5. Need new central AC for sure. May upgrade furnace at same time. I'm located on Hamilton Mountain. HVAC is a trade that I'm very leery about. Anyone have any trusted recommendations? Not looking to skimp out on quality. 3 years in my home and plan on being here for a while. So I'll pay the $$$ required for top quality. Just want to ensure I'm dealing with a good, reputable company.
  6. Karma. examples like this one helps prove it exists. Glad to hear the positive news Cliff.
  7. I'm so sorry Jen that you have to go through this pain. Wayne, Leah, you two have been through more than any parent should ever have to deal with. I don't pray, but Wayne, for you and your family, I will.
  8. you guys said it. nothing beats fishing with dad...especially when the fish are biting as well as they were Saturday morning another week or so and the fish will have left the shallows.....but it sure is fun while it lasts.
  9. Mid last week Dad asked if there would be any fishing this weekend? Saturday morning was the time he had available. Launched and found water temps between 42-43 degrees, less than 6 degrees colder than last weekend...but the conditions were what we had...so we went at it! Setup a four rod spread...typical spread for me in the shallows. 2 long lines out the back and 2 lines off the inlines. This time we kept the leads even shorter, only 65' behind the boat and 55' behind the boards....this allowed us to come in even tighter and focus on the shallow shorelines where I knew the fish would be. Many boats were working 15' to 20' of water....but we kept to a spread that would allow us to work water as shallow as 5'. Like last week, we found many trout, both browns, and lakers, in tight. I kept dad very busy, taking approx 12 or 13 trout on our stick baits.....found a couple of screaming silver trouts as well. bonus! We didn't get on the water for sunrise....but we were fishing by 6:30am. The first fish took all of two minutes and a long line with a spinning rod bent over. the next one came right after the first. Lakers were next up in the schedule....a number were caught while looking for some more browns. They were hitting all the lines. Dad was patient, just relaxing while reeling them in. He just seemed happy to be on the water. We were sorting through some trout while the inline rod was smashed. Either this was a brown on speed, or ..... well ..... a silver shark joined our shark mission. The morning was quickly ending, 11am was fast approaching. We did a final turn and an inside long line was smashed on the turn. Fat Brown!! The morning was ending on a perfect note. I couldn't be happier with the results, and the time on the water spent with dad. I had sped up to make our way to port a little quicker while we were cleaning up the boat...you know, doing everything possible without actually taking the rods out of the water... And you know the drill..... An inline rod just started screaming....at 11am? A lost and confused King clearly. She started jumping way off the back corner of the boat and looked like a silver marlin! Tons of length on this girl. She was a bullet out there....thankfully this gave us an excuse to clear the rest of the spread and I just enjoyed my best fight of the year. A great spring King!
  10. make sure you have two friends with you....take it slow....think a bit before you do every action. it'll become second nature soon enough...for now, just take it easy and double check everything while launching and taking the boat out.
  11. they'll refurb reactor B at Bruce before rebuilding another OPG plant .
  12. addict since 2005. sweet ride! that'll handle Lake Ontario
  13. hmmm, Lake Medad by chance, lol.
  14. Canuck2Fan, how do the insurance companies that are private, and do not have shareholders, fit into the equation?
  15. oh if they are doing a full remediation, all the better.
  16. before they can seriously consider what to do with the site/land upon decommissioning, they'll have to do some serious soil tests so they know what they are dealing with.
  17. well, browns are prolific feeders...they eat a wide variety of food sources. but yes, more spawning grounds would be great.....so would allowing them to spawn at current spawning area's without .... well .... nevermind
  18. all part of the future plan for power management. even with pickering's closure, nuclear will continue to play an integral role in "turning our lights on". Bruce Power would likely play a bigger part in our provinces nuclear power needs, if needed.
  19. i guess my first piece of advice, read your policy. property policies are written in plain language (read: not lawyer mumbo jumbo). a court decided a few years back that insurance companies had to issue policies in easy to understand language. many feel a little fear when it comes to reading policy wordings. have a go at-er. if you have any questions, just ask on here. I'll try and help. Every insurance company has their own property wordings. This is very important to understand. Unlike auto insurance, which has government legislated wordings, property wordings can vastly differ from company to company. That is why it can be difficult to provide accurate property coverage advice. Also, pricing for property policies widely differs as a result of the various coverage and wording options. An insurance policy is a contract. Who enters into a contract without reading it? If you're not comfortable with "anything" related to your policy, ask your broker! that is what they get paid commission for. That is commission you pay for in your policy premium.
  20. lol! Simple, yet effective.
  21. i've been lucky enough to be shown the photo of the 30lbs brown caught over easter weekend. i'm not going to comment on the size in the photo, because photo's can be deceiving, but the fish was massive....by far the biggest brown i've seen since our big one in 2011. it does look as big, if not bigger, than our 24.5lbs brown. there are some big browns on our side (the US side, all the browns get kept and eaten, but at least on our side, they seem to get released....now if steelhead anglers could stop raping the females for eggs....we'd really see some big browns).
  22. Lake Ontario is down about 24" from this time last year.
  23. it was a great time out there... with the winds screwing everything up today, not sure how much longer they will stay in the shallows.... but they sure are fun when they are in tight.
