  1. I almost live at the South Bay area. 4 miles west of Powassan cells are dead. Bell and Rogers anyway. Fish Bay is a dead zone (even for my recent Rogers cell) and sections of Hunters Bay can be bad too. Once out on the main body of the lake it is OK, I suspect the line of sight to North Bay allows it.
  2. Ha ! You must get a whole bunch of them somewhere around the end of June.
  3. I will back you on your ideals Jason. Thank you for the heads up on that organization, had no idea.
  4. Just got home from out there. The traveling is pretty good. I'd still stick to regular traveled routes though . You never know when a pressure crack will show up out there. Hunters Bay.
  5. Yes they do pay taxes Dickie. I apologize for not adding that fact as well. Whereas the fishing huts do not necessarily. I was referring to fish restocking.
  6. No doubt about the MNR part of it Kevin but the fishing isn't what it was at our end of the lake. I would like to see stocking of pickerel too. Especially from those that are taking fish and giving nothing or very little back into it. The commercial fish hut operators come to mind here as well as summer outfitters that are giving nothing back as well. Kudos to those that are.
  7. http://www.nugget.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2438080 Can't say as I have ever seen a smelt inside a pickerel on Nipissing. Not saying it isn't true but it makes me wonder about the credibility of the story. Personally from what I am seeing I think Nipissing fish stocks are in trouble.
  8. Thank you Jacques. I really enjoy your handy work as well. George it's more likely an isolator mount causing your problem. They are rubber mounted and often on these oldies the rubber goes bad and they will drop down. Thanks Will. Won't be long now. Looking forward to it !
  9. Thanks guys. George My favorites were the late 50's. Top notch quality, beautiful colours and great running were what makes me love them. I have several more to choose from for another winters project but I am searching for a 1958 Johnson 18 HP right now. I'll see how well this 10 works for this summer in the meantime.
  10. Here is an update on the motor project. Well after a couple of paint ripples and masking tape problems this week I finally started to put on a couple of decals. Few more parts and pieces to put on but it is nearing completion. Here's a look so far. There is another outboard project going on in the shop. This one is being done by Jim, who is planning on taking this one to the Gravenhurst Antique Boat Show this summer. It's a 1958 7 1/2 Johnson. This one is going to be a beauty. I love those engines.
  11. Yes Joe. The safety glasses thing is what first made me ask the question why not the same thing in a polarized. So when at the show I asked at one of the booths. The lady said "yes, we have them" Good score for the reading and knot tying impaired.
  12. Last spring at the Cottage Life show I came across a set of polarized with a reading glass magnifier in them. They seemed like good quality so I bought 2 pair, $25 each, and they are great. I can now tie on a new jig without having to get my regular glasses. Had expensive ones before too, honestly didn't find them to be any better than a cheaper pair of polarized. And at $25 it isn't a great loss if they get lost or damaged.
  13. I hope there are a few more years in mine. They advertised at the time they were 99% efficient. I believe it. Cut my heating costs to 25% of what the previous oil hog was. It was quite a lot more money at the time but it was a great investment.
  14. Monsters? In what way?
  15. I have a Lennox Pulse furnace. It is sneaking up on 25 years old. The only thing I have ever needed to do on it was a blower motor. My parents had one as well and the heat exchanger finally had gone on it, but it was a year or two older than mine. His was still under warranty and they honored it. Pretty good I would say.
  16. If its a steel rim and it hasn't bent the position of the inside flange it might be OK to straighten it. If it's an aluminum it may break when trying to bend it back depending on the severity of the bend.
  17. You guys are wussies.
  18. This is one after Art gives a donation at Lakair.
  19. One liter of propane liquid makes 270 liters of explosive gas. It's not to be taken lightly.
  20. Did midnights driving transport for 6 straight years. Loved it. No traffic, only moose to watch out for.
  21. In chat we can post stuff like this. Conversation in a Oklahoma Bar A guy walks into a bar in Tulsa and orders a white wine. All the hillbillies sitting around the bar look up, expecting to see some pathetic Yankee from the north. The bartender says, "You ain't from around here, are ya?" The guy says, "No, I'm from Collingwood, Ontario." The bartender says, "What do you do in Canada?" The guy says, "I'm a taxidermist." The bartender says, "A taxidermist? What in tarnation is a taxidermist? Do you drive a taxi?" "No, a taxidermist doesn't drive a taxi. I mount animals." The bartender grins and hollers, "It's okay boys. He's one of us."
  22. Keep talking like that and they will have to get the chat back on line.
  23. Ya. I can't swear at Dawg on the forum.
  24. Jack. When a propane cylinder of any description is filled it is only done to 80% of the volume of the container. The 20% is there to allow for heat expansion as a safety factor. If it was topped right up as a liquid there is no room for that expansion to take place.
  25. I hear there is about a foot of ice. May have lost some in the last day or two though. And the rain runoff will erode some in certain places too. Don't think I would be heading out on it with a load just yet.
