Well, I have many hobbies keeping me broke; electric guitars & amps, knife collecting,etc. You just gotta go with your seasonal priorities. Skiing & ice-fishing in winter, boats & bikes in summer, salmon & trout in spring or fall. Now if you Hunt as well..archery stuff, guns,decoys,camo... Thank God we live in a country so lush with outdoor pursuits.

Your trolling speed is probably too slow. Warmer temps call for faster lures to trigger fish to strike. Anchor & cast next time you mark lots of fish. It could be Drum,Carp,Catfish,Smallies,whatever. Try fishing close to bottom first. If fish are "suspended" then you have to fish your lure a bit shallower. for them to see it. Use something with a spinner to send out some vibes.

6'6" mh rod..i like Fenwick HMG. Reel, Daiwa TD advantage. Line #10 Super Silver Thread. Great for bassin & average pike. Don't use braid lines until you get the hang of Monofilament 1st. Daiwa Zillion if you win a lottery.. Luna for heavier fishing.

Take the rod with ya & put the reel on it there. Then you'll know for sure.
