  1. Unbelievable! Truly a giant fish (well both are), congrats! Thanks for posting the videos.
  2. I had a pair of those for about a year, liked them a lot but now they're at the bottom of Moira Lake.
  3. One 50 might be luck, 2 50's has got to be skill! Way to go, that's awesome!
  4. I caught a 31" musky casting in Kash on monday, lost one trolling and caught a fiesty little musky in Head lake that just hammered my lure with everything it had.
  5. I saw that, Congrats guys! Also nice shout out to the handlebarz lures. What I'm wondering is why are they not bragging about this? I certainly would be if I outfished all the musky hunter guys!
  6. I've seen tons of them swimming around in the Moira River right in downtown Belleville a few years ago, haven't looked lately though. The water isn't deep there by Front St. , you should be able to wade out and sight fish them.
  7. Hey everyone! My name is Christopher, I moved to Belleville about 6 years ago, grew up in the Bancroft area. I did a lot of bass fishing from shore growing up. I didn't fish much after moving down here until a couple of years ago. Bought a 14' tin boat with a 9.9 last spring and got into walleye, pike and musky fishing. I upgraded to a 16' starcraft with a 40hp tiller last fall and other than some trolling for lakers early this year I've been pretty much just focused on pike and musky. I still have a lot to learn and I'm up for fishing for anything though musky fishing really gets my blood pumping and I'm determined to get better at catching them! I still have to get around to catching some of those big quinte walleye, especially since I've never even caught a 20" walleye and I live so close to the bay!
  8. I wouldn't feel comfortable using less than 80lb.
  9. Hahaha, it really is ridiculous how racist/prejudiced many people still are these days.
  10. Happy birthday Paul!
  11. Thanks guys. I'm going to be stopping by the body shop tomorrow to take more photos with a better camera. Hopefully they haven't started working on it yet. I'll also take pictures of the intersection and where I was hit. Talking to people at work and who are from around here, EVERYONE knows who this cop is and he has a very bad reputation for being a jackass. Even other cops hate him because he tries to ticket them all the time. Even the guy at my insurance company knew his first name and laughed when I told him that was the cop, seems this guy is just an all around idiot.
  12. Just got a call from the bodyshop, over $4600 in damages and it will take 7 days to fix once they get all the parts in. Thank God for insurance!
  13. Not good for me! He was at fault, I was driving straight in my lane when he moved over and hit my vehicle because he never checked his mirrors. So I'm stuck paying the deductable for his mistake. There was no damage done to his trailor since those bars are nearly indestructable so he drives away without a problem and it doesn't cost him a dime. His insurance should be paying for this if I had a competent police officer, not mine. How can charges be laid against me? Because I turned into an empty lane and drove straight for 15-20 feet and another vehicle decided to change lanes without looking, hitting me?
  14. Ughh, yesterday I was driving home after running some errends and I was planning on fishing for a bit before the storm hit. I'm turning right on a red, I stop at the corner and make sure the way is clear. There's a transport in the center lane coming up through the light but my lane is clear so I turn and drive about 15-20' in the curb lane while the truck passes me....until he decides he's going to change into my lane without looking in his mirrors. I slam on my brakes but his back right trailor's bumper (which is solid metal) hits the front left side of my truck, bending my fender, ripping my left headlight out, bends my grill in half so it's sticking out. I don't know how he couldn't see me since I turned before he even went through the intersection! He turns down the next road on the right so I followed him thinking he might try to take off but we both pull over off the busy street. He got out and says sorry and admits that it's his fault and he never checked before changing lanes and asks me if I'm going to call the police! I couldn't even open my driver's side door! Of course I'm calling the cops! So 20 minutes later a cop arrives and asks for a quick story, now the truck driver is saying he's in the curb lane all along! If that were the case and I cut him off the front of his truck would have hit me, not the very back of his trailor. I figured by the damage to my truck it's OBVIOUS what happened and the cop would see that my story was right. He gets his information first, then lets the guy leave, I give him my info and he says "You realize you're at fault, right?" I almost lose it! How can I be at fault for driving straight in my lane and someone changing lanes and hitting me?!! I said look at my truck! I explained to him again what happened so the cop starts backpeddling and says "Yeah, I can't in good concious say that you're at fault so I'm going to write nobody is at fault. I can't say anybody is at fault since no witnesses stopped." Even though he was pretty quick to accuse me (probably because I'm young and the other driver was in his 50's). So now it looks like I'm stuck paying the deductable because some idiot doesn't check his mirrors or use turn signals when changing lanes! That cop was so unprofessional, he never even went and looked at where the accident occured (where pieces of my truck were still on the road). He just kept saying "I understand your frustration but I can't say he's at fault without a witness". Apparently you can't solve crimes based on EVIDENCE anymore, and this guy claimed he used to be a traffic collision cop! Honestly?!!
  15. Nice fish! I bet those are going to taste great!
  16. Yep, fallfish. I catch those from time to time around bancroft while bass fishing. Put up a decent fight for the size of them.
  17. I saw a boat either being launched or coming back to shore in Centre Lake severel years ago, walked past the launch to go swimming. When I came back the boat was completely melted and sunk in the launch and cops were there. No idea what exactly happened but pretty freaky to see. Thankfully nobody was hurt.
  18. Sheesh! Looks like Stoco is the destination since it's more convenient for us next weekend anyway. I know there's huge fish in there but I've been stubbornly fishing Moira a lot this year, trying to get to know that lake really well. I've raised plenty of nice fish there, but only been catching the smallest fish in the lake lol. I've also fished Haliburton several times when I'm up in that area and those fish just aren't cutting it anymore, need to catch some solid fish. What are Stoco's numbers like? I've heard of 10 fish days from there, but that was by a very experienced musky fisherman/guide so that's not a normal occurance.
  19. The Larry seems to have pretty good numbers too though considering it's also a trophy water, though it's gotta be harder to catch as many casting as you can trolling just based on the size alone. For those who have fished both waters, how does Scugog (and the Kawarthas in general) compare to Stoco? There might be a change of plan and we might end have to end up fishing Stoco instead. I've only fished there once for a few hours last year so I really don't know the lake very well. I've heard of some big musky caught out of there and the fish typically aren't skinny around here, but I'm also wondering what the numbers are like since my brother has only gone musky fishing once before so we're hoping for some decent action too, as well as a good chance of catching fish over 40". Thanks for all the replies guys.
  20. I'll probably be launching out of Port Perry.
  21. Hey everybody, I'm heading to Scugog next weekend to go fishing with my brother. Never been there before (or any of the Kawartha lakes for that matter) and was just looking for some advice on what to expect. We'll be targetting musky if it's not too hot. I hear Scugog is pretty shallow, are there lots of logs/rocks that I should watch out for? What are the weeds like? I often fish in lakes where the weeds are extremely thick with no defined weed edge/lots of fish holding in the pockets, is it the similar in Scugog or could I effectively troll the weedlines and be productive? My plan right now is to use mainly bucktails/spinners (if I get my bucktail reel back from the shop in time) and sledges/jerkbaits in the deeper weeds and any rock stricture I can find, and maybe trolling a bit to start. I'm not looking for any hotspots but anything in general that works for that area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  22. Sorry to hear about that Mike, I know how hard it is seeing someone you thought was so strong suddenly look weak. Seeing my dad in the hospital before he passed away last year from a stroke was the hardest thing I've ever experienced. This year my mom was intubated for over a week too, thankfully I was back home at the time she got sick since she couldn't/wouldn't have gone to the hospital on her own. It must be very hard to be unable to do the things you've loved doing for years and most elderly people don't want to feel like a bother to other people, so make him know that you just want to spend time with him and not "take care of him". Ask him if you can go shopping with him so you can get some good deals too, instead of "I'll take you shopping Grandpa". And enjoy the stories, even the ones you've heard a hundred times because some day you'll be doing the same thing to your son and grandkids lol.
  23. Experienced that for the 1st (and second) time yesterday after casting wasn't producing anything. I've caught them trolling before but always rod in hand. There isn't a nicer sound while fishing, especially when someone gets their first musky that way. Awesome fish! Imagine how big it's going to be in late fall....
  24. Last year when I had my 14' tin boat with a 9.9 tiller I launched at Elephant Lake, had the boat on the dock when me and whoever was with me at the time climbed in. Well my old motor was tricky and you had to twist the throttle all the way to get it started after it had been sitting awhile, so I opened the throttle and pulled the cord, not realizing the boat was in forward, not nuetral. I missed another boat that was tied to the dock by about 4-5' and there were a bunch of people sitting by the docks in lawn chairs, man did I ever feel like a jackass lol.
  25. Wow, I'm super jealous. I'd love to go there someday. Good luck!
