  1. Assuming you are committed to going and/or committed to staying, my experience has been it is anything but a career limiting move. Sharing your ambitious plans and offering your current employer the courtesy of not just receiving a resignation letter is generally appreciated, especially in smaller companies.
  2. I have had nothing but success albeit I found their shipping a little expensive.
  3. In a past career my lack of advancement prompted me to look elsewhere within the same company. I was surprised when my VP called me in one day and said don't sign anything (had no idea anybody knew I was looking) and I received a promotion from him within the week. I concur with the messages above in that blackmail or threats won't work. However, if you receive an offer and then approach your employer with a sympathetic tone about leaving, you won't burn the bridge and they just might look to compete with the offer. Just don't share any news about an offer until they show interest in keeping you. Another point, my wife works in the tech industry and in her experience, she found sometimes making a lateral move will open up a better opportunity that wouldn't have come along otherwise. So you may not eventually retire from the bank but it may pave the way to a better career path. Good luck.
  4. I just traded my '03 GMC Envoy after almost 8 years and I loved it. It had the big 6 in it and towed my 21' Procraft with no trouble at all. If it had a 3rd row of seats I would have definitely bought another one. I debated the Acadia vs. a used Yukon and ended up getting the Yukon...I just wasn't convinced the Acadia would be able to handle regular towing of 3500lbs. The Yukon is great but I too am getting to know the gas station owners pretty well these days.
  5. I hadn't fished since I was a kid and have been re-aquainting myself with the sport over the last couple of years as well. Mostly bass fishing but last I year decided to take a serious run at muskie fishing. A couple of words of advice: be careful! If you thought you spent a lot of money on fishing gear before, you have no idea what you are in for with muskie. Having said that, your family will never struggle to buy you a gift again. For organization, I use the Plano big gear box for muskie and a big soft bag that will hold 8+ trays for everything else. The plus about the soft bag is it has a shoulder strap which will free up a hand for rods et al when moving a lot of stuff. I also swear by the soft bait bag binder and spinner bait box.
  6. Funny, I just received this today from PokerStars... As you may have heard, due to recent developments in the USA, we had to make changes to our website address. We have moved the PokerStars website to www.pokerstars.eu. Our Support email address has also moved to [email protected]. These developments do not have any impact on your ability to play real money games and tourneys on PokerStars - it is business as usual for all players outside the USA. Sit & Go's, Multi-Table Tourneys and cash ring games at all stakes and limit types are running normally. You can rest assured that player balances are safe. If you have any further questions, please contact us at [email protected]. In the meantime, please continue to enjoy playing our games! We thank you for choosing PokerStars. The PokerStars Team Find the Poker Star in you!
  7. I had not logged into my account for a while and when I finally did after reading this thread, PokerStars had a message saying they have changed their domain address to '.eu' instead of the previous '.com' They also claimed business as usual and everybody's account balances were safe. Fortunately I only have about U$200 in my account so it's not a huge deal if it's eventually lost but you have to believe this is going to hurt business since players with thousands in their accounts won't likely chance staying with the site. Having said that there are currently more than 110,000 players in games as I type. I too will be interested to see how this plays out.
  8. no duty on boats built in u.s., just taxes
  9. Excellent debate. Personally, I think you have to strongly consider your past experience. If all you have fished in is a boat with a console, you will miss it by choosing a tiller and vice versa, if all you have fished with is a tiller, you will miss the lost space in a boat with a console. Either way, be sure to test run each of them before you buy. I drove to Alabama to buy my boat and it was over 5' longer than my previous boat. During the test drive my first thought was "uh oh, this thing weighs a ton". I had done my homework though and after a lengthy test drive and putting the boat through it's paces I warmed up to it pretty quickly. The moral of the story is don't buy something you haven't tested or had any previous experience with. As far as advice, you can't beat this site as there are a lot of great comments throughout the thread Good luck.
  10. If you are looking for a reel, good luck at Bass Pro. Was there on Saturday, day 2 of the reel-trade-in sale, and they were already sold out of Shimano Core reels - all models!
  11. I have one of the Costco Wetskins...don't know the price as it was a gift but I am very happy with it. Has some vent zippers in the jacket that help prevent getting too warm. Like dressing for winter, moisture wicking clothing underneath helps a lot...avoid cotton.
  12. If you want a rod to last you forever Ugly Stik is your rod. If you want a rod to catch fish then I have to paraphrase Cudz "don't buy an Ugly Stik". I have 2 that I have owned for years and ever since I have added better rods they only collect dust. Spinning is definitely the way to go in that price range and BPS or Shimano would be my rod choice. Any Shimano rod I have broken, regardless of how, Shimano has replaced it without question (granted they were all Compre rods - not sure if same applies to Sojurn or Convergence) and I believe BPS has an excellent return policy for their rods although I have never personally tried. Regarding reels, a 2500 Shimano anything will serve you well. The reel trade in is coming up at BPS just before the Sportsman's show....do your homework and one place or the other should net you a deal ;-)
  13. Probably a good thing you didn't catch him...or you would be up on assault charges now!
  14. I picked up a boat in Alabama, accompanied a buddy about 8 months later to pick up another (coincidentally in Alabama again) and finally a couple of SeaDoos from Illinois. The moral of the story is the link below was all the info I needed. http://boating.ncf.ca/buy-usa.html Good luck.
  15. See link for a bit of background on both the Upper and Lower. I mostly fish the Kawarthas so the Upper is more like what I am used to. The falls play on you the first couple of times out but you get used to it after a few visits. The river can get surprisingly rough between wind and current - be sure to know your boat and it's limits. Have caught a couple of small musky in addition to bass, perch etc but no trophies yet. I usually launch at the old Shipyard Marina on Niagara Parkway (2400 Niagara Parkway, Fort Erie) - it is a good launch protected from current and wind. http://www.niagara-f...ra-fishing.html
