Many of you might remember I went through the ice on the rainy river this past winter. Thankfully I was wearing my float suit. Well today nature decided, once again, for whatever reason I needed another wake up call. The last week water levels dropped over 6ft allowing me to fish my favorite spots best spots for bass. Well 30 or so minutes in, for whatever reason(I cannot remember exactly) I ended up in the water above the manitou rapids. Here is what I remember... 2 boats fishing nearby below the rapids for the international falls bass tourny. Thinking how silly would it look if I fell in? Well, by the end of that thought I was feet first down the rapids smashing what seemed to be every rock in the vaccinity... Then im on shore. Broken and battered, confused. It all took what seemed like 1 second. Ashore, both boats arrived to make sure I was ok. Good on ya fellas and many thanks! If I could remember names Id contact the local papers and tell of your good deed. Im alive, well and no worse for wear other than an undiagnosed knee injury( yeah it hurts falling on and hittin rocks). But im alive? Anyhow, all you shore anglers, steelheaders etc. RESPECT THAT CURRENT! For reference, here is a photo of my brother in law I took two days ago. Where I fell in was about 20 feet east of that location

Its usually june when they explode here as well, usually lasting 2-3 weeks. As for the jellies, possibly aqarium but it be from quite some diatance away lol. The lake is 3 hours+ down bushroads and isnt heavely fished as its fairly hard to get into. With the lakes we have not alot of anglers tourist or not are interested in portaging 3 times to get there lol. Its a puddle of a lake too (some of these lakes you can paddle a 14" tinny one side to the other in 15 or 20 mins

I know there is still time yet, but is anyone else noting a lack of mayflies at your fav local waterbodies? I havent seen a single one this year. Its been hot/humid as well, thats usually indicitive of an early and substantial hatch. Kinda weird, just one of many things Ive noticed this year. Also in cool/disturbing news, we stumbled across a massive collection of small jellyfish on a small lake near the lower manitou. Be interesting to find out what type, why and how they suddenly emerged?

Speaking of runoff... I wonder, with the amount of organic and inorganic substances entering the watertable, are any new substances being created? Its fairly easy to test what you are looking for in water, BUT These chemicals and organic matter like to make friends. Who if anyone, is looking at and databasing new substances?

Ah forgive my memory. Cant believe I forgot it was you that sent all those awesome seeds, d'oh! We actually didnt have room for them in our new place, but dont fret! We made a system of shelving type units to grow them on the side of my dads garage. Made sense also because he loves peppers as much as I and was already growing a few strains. Similar issues here. Too hot. But ive got a good amount to survive on and it looks much better weatherwise now. Im actually heading in to town today, ill try to remember to take some pics These are nasty nasty peppers bro, nasty!!!!
