Good god brian, your better than me! I made some bass cranks from balsa and it took me all winter to make 4 hahahah Gonna do it again though because one colourway was friggen unreal(black head, glow in the dark green) Its friggen hard to hand carve a lure that runs true. But super fun and amazing when it hooks lips!

Why do we keep shooting ourselves in the foot?
manitoubass2 replied to Dave Bailey's topic in General Discussion
Agreed My bad. Around here "birders" are hunters. I did not realize it was bird watchers. So again, are bird watchers super lazy? Why are they watching a pond? Get out in the bush ffs -

Why are people hunting a pond? Even if its legal, thats just silly. The part of hunting I love is the chase, just like fishing. Id never fish a pond unless I was teaching a 3 year old to fish. Even then I probably wouldnt bother. Most these birds also land in fields. Makes no sense to me??? As I type this there is maybe 200 geese to my right, IN A FIELD -
What are you watching lately, TV, Movies..etc

Sounds like a great excuse doug!!! Best of luck on the future hunts. Lay down some tobacco on the north side of a tree, see if that luck changes! I made 5 gallons of chilli with 4 seeds of ghost pepper 4 days back and brought it in to work for the guys/gals in the field. Boy o boy did they appreciate that!

Dont speak in that tone to your elders??? -
Good on ya! My day started off great! Got progressively worse(work related) then even worse(two daughters involved in a high school brawl) then better when my youngest wanted to come out, then WAAAAAY worse to get home to find the wife crying and barely moving after having suffered some sort of back injury???? Then the realization I have to take time off work to watch karsten(our 7 month old) because wifey cant barely even move. Brutal day

I was joking about worms??? I only eat walleye around 27-30" ???
-
Its all cooked who cares lol
-
I back this. Good crappie have a very subtle sweet taste(at least up here, im sure it varies with waterbodies to a degree) Cook a perch, bluegill, walleye and crappie, with no coating whatsoever. Its funny we all love walleye so much. Do this and guess what? Thats all breading seasoning and cooking. Walleye has about .25 outta ten on the flavour scale lol
-
Anywhere from 8" to 15" Most crappie on the backlakes here are about 10"s, so thats mainly what ill keep. If im crappie fishing im keeping a limit, regardless of size. Even a 15"er tastes great!
-
Yep!!!! Ive been filleting the same way as you sinker since I was a kid. Its a common method here. I fillet northern different but for walleye, yessir thats the technique! Also, get a good knife guys/gals. A good knife not only works faster and more accurate, it will hold its edge FAAAAAR LONGER than cheap knives.

Where were you on September 11th 2001 at 08:30?
manitoubass2 replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Remember it very vividly. I lived at my grandpas after my gma passed. I moved in to look after him. We had a solid routine. I was up at 5am and got the grapefruit cut and ready. Heated up the skillet for eggs and klick. Woke gramps up at 530am and we had our grapefruit, then klick and eggs. Next up was always cbc then cnn for an hour or so. Gramps hit the washroom and thats when the first plane hit. I never bothered him because in all honesty I thought it was one of those CNN docu movie type things. By the time I realised that it was real we barely left our chairs. By 530pm I went on a beer run and gramps asked for a 12 pack instead of his 4 pack. I bought a case, knowing he was shook and it was gonna be a long night. That was one of three times I seen my grampa cry, one talking about being in ww1, two when gma died. It was so sureal and shocking Unless I get dementia or alzheimers Ill never forget every little detail of that day.
