4 in our hut -
Can't wait for the Tyler derby. We've had so much fun the last few it's become the highlight of our hardwater season. Going to move the hut this week to try and get on some fish as it's been slow were we are. Only 7 or so whitefish a few herring a bunch of perch and NO trout so far this year were it is. (87 FOW) Hoping for a great turnout. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL.

Sad to see so much destruction on the lake. A lot of huts have been damaged or destroyed by the melt/wind/freeze more wind. I saw a few on their roofs frozen into the ice. Some just frozen in. I ran across one of my cousins collecting pieces of his hut, it must of tumbled to bits. Real sad because he made it with his father just before he passed away. There were quite a few smashed up ones. Some huts just seem to be missing, Adam's rental hut is not were I last saw it, I hope he moved it. A loss to a lot of people. The Ice was great and dry the snow is knocked down allot but drifts of new snow are a couple of feet deep in places. oh Yeah I'm talking about the innisfil side. No fish but banked and secured the hut and will try again tomorrow.

Hey you guys aren't helping. I'm trying to talk my wife into going out and your spooking her. What wind it's only a little breeze.

Saw this on the local news last night. A average humble Canadian. Said he did what anyone would. (We all wish) A real hero. Hope he gets the Karma he deserves. Hoppy

Can of worms open. I don't have enough information to jump to Ian Thomson's defense in this matter. Is it just another example of a urbanite "retiring to the country" and not fitting in. He's been fighting with the neighbor for 6 years, who else in the community has he been fighting with? City people who move to the country are use to the clearly defined property lines & fences of there subdivisions more than country folk let alone free range chickens. You seen his property in the video, it's no better homes and gardens, what harm could a chicken do? Has he threated gun violence in the past. We don't know. we know nothing of his other interactions with the local cops. We don't know why the locals are trying to drive him out. That brings me to the next point. The attack doesn't look like a serious attempt to burn him out, down or to death to me. More like a message to move on. A lot like me putting the for sale sign on the front yard of the kiddie porn dude down the street from me. (he got the hint and moved) Remember it's reasonable force you have the right to use. On the other hand if I feel my family is threatened who cares about the law at that point. Protect my kids and pay what it costs later in terms of money or liberty. Period. I see no mention of protecting anything other than property in this case. Secondly he should have grabbed a long gun. He is a trainer and knows hand guns owners swear up and down there only for sport, target shooting NOT personal protection. If this is the premise for ownership why the surprise when the handgun is used in this matter you have to justify it in court. Hoppy

They seems to be many OFNer's named Terry. My question is: How many are there and can any of them catch fish? Thanks Hoppy

Oh and for the record I don't drink on the Ice very often but I smoke cannabis every time. Peace Hoppy

Well pot is legal for sum 3000 or so (the numbers keeps climbing) Canadians for medical reasons. It should be legalized not decriminalized for all for personal freedom if not just to get it out of high schools. It's easier for kid to get pot than beer. Get it. The law is wrong for our communities, wrong for or kids. The get them "hooked on the laced joint" propaganda is just that, propaganda spread by cops and there unions who realize if the drug war ended 1/3 of there funding would vanish. Face it cops and there unions just want to build more jails, pass more laws, hire more cops, make the police union & lobby groups more powerful..... and repeat.....and repeat. They won't be satisfied till the only ones left on the street are cops. Just ask any cop, they believe all citizens are criminals. OK Back on topic. I've spent my whole life here fishing the ice of Simcoe. It's only been recent years (OK 2 or 3 decades) people have used vehicle to get out on the ice, and a lot of locals still walk to there huts. Remember there are people who live here and are not commuting to fish. Who's business is it if they drink in the huts or get hammered for that matter. Some people do cause problems when drunk but we have lots of laws to deal with those problems including severe drinking and driving laws. Peace Hoppy

Adams rental hut is real close to mine. I got a few whitefish and a bunch of perch (strange not the norm) in our hut so far so you should have some action. Good luck Hoppy

Thanks for the welcome. I fish the Tyler event the last 2 or 3 years now and am looking forward to it. Great day on the ice Funny thing is I am Terry just another one (that catches fish)... and my fishing partner and wife is TJ.

Hi all, peeps call me Hoppy, I am basically a grumpy old man. I live in Innisfil and Ice fish when I can. I use to love steelheading rivers but can't anymore because although I still have two legs I have only one knee between them. So wading has been out the last almost decade now. I find the Ice the easiest access to fishing now and look forward to the hard water each year. Hope to see you all @ the fishing for Tyler event. Hoppy

My brother-in-law sells china bikes @ the 400 market. He told me they get license at the local offices "no problem" but a few of his customers got rejected in TO and then tried in Barrie on his suggestion and succeeded. So it sounds to be not a sure thing to me. Hoppy
